UN chief set to visit Gaza

Who has less respect around the world? The UN or Obama? Both are pretty much useless on the world stage.
Check it out:

Israeli troops pounded Hamas rocket launchers, uncovered tunnels and engaged in gunbattles on the second day of a ground operation in Gaza Saturday, as the head of the United Nations was set to visit the Middle East in an effort to bring an end to a nearly two-week conflict that has reportedly claimed hundreds of lives.

The Israeli military said that during its first 24 hours on the ground troops were mostly staying close to the border area and had discovered 13 tunnels into Israel — some as deep as 30 meters — that could be used to carry out attacks.

The military also said that in 12 days of fighting it has hit 2,350 targets in Gaza, including 1,100 rocket launchers, and severely diminished the arsenal of Hamas, the Islamic militant group that controls the coastal territory. Gaza militants have fired more than 1,500 rockets at Israel over the past 11 days, and rocket fire continued overnight.

“We have struck hard on the two main strategic assets of Hamas: the rockets and these tunnels,” said Israeli military spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner.
