Teacher’s Disgusting Homework Assignment: Pretend You’re a 9/11 Victim, Write ‘Goodbye Letter’ to Family

This is disturbing on so many levels.
Check it out:

A teacher in Alvin, Texas is under fire for a controversial assignment that has some parents fuming. The language arts instructor asked her seventh grade class to write a goodbye letter to loved ones from the perspective of one of the victims of the September 11 attacks.

“They were supposed to pretend like they were either in the Twin Towers or on the plane and they weren’t going to make it out … This was their ‘goodbye letter,’ recalled Kate Gurka, the mom of a 12-year-old in the class. “This was almost like [reading] a suicide note … she showed me the paper, and I thought it was absolutely ridiculous.”

The Alvin school district issued a statement apologizing for the assignment.
