Cantor: ‘We Shouldn’t Be for a Gov’t Shutdown’
Keeping this in context will be rough. You can be sure this statement will be used against him.
Check it out:
On Fox News Sunday, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) said he would not be for a government shutdown during the next round of budget negotiations that will take place when Congress returns from its August recess. The current continuing resolution that funds the government expires on September 30 while America is expected to hit its debt limit shortly thereafter.
“We shouldn’t be for a government shutdown,” Cantor said, saying he felt that was the belief of most on the right and left.
Cantor said the most important thing was “keeping our eye focused” on the “growing deficit.” He also noted that raising the debt limit was like raising the credit card limit, which is a reality Washington has not grasped.
