Syria called an alleged Israeli strike on a military research facility in Damascus a “declaration of war” on Sunday and vowed to retaliate.

Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal al Mekdad went on to accuse Israel of siding with terrorists in a gambit to overthrow the regime of Bashar Assad during an interview with CNN. And Gen. Masoud Jazayeri of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said separately that his country, an ally of Assad, would also fight back.

“We do not comment on these reports at all,” an Israeli military spokesperson said.
