Obama’s “Jedi mind meld” gaffe stirs jokes on Twitter

JediMind

President Obama set the Twitterverse on fire when he mixed science fiction references during a sequester-related press conference Friday.

Obama said he couldn’t do a “Jedi mind meld” to force Republican leaders to come to an agreement over the sequester, which will cut $85 billion from the budget this fiscal year and $1.1 trillion more over 10 years.

CBS Boston reports fans were quick to react to Obama’s mix-up of sci-fi references and the term “Jedi mind meld” quickly went viral on Twitter. The term “Jedi mind trick” is from “Star Wars,” while “Vulcan mind meld” is from “Star Trek.”
