Penelope Soto: The Lack of Respect Epidemic in America

Courtroom-500x281

On Tuesday, we showed you video of a teenage girl cursing out and flipping off a Miami judge during a drug possession hearing. Penelope Soto was sentenced to 30 days in jail by Judge Jorge Rodriguez-Chomat. In tonight’s Talking Points Memo, Bill O’Reilly charged that there’s a “lack of respect epidemic” in the nation.

“It is clear that the judge was fed up, not only with Ms. Soto, but with the entire atmosphere that we have in this country,” O’Reilly said. “Many Americans simply are disrespectful; they feel they can do whatever they want to do and Ms. Soto is a good example of that.”

What’s the reason for this so-called disrespect epidemic? O’Reilly believes it’s because of the public school system in America. He said educators are soft when it comes to discipline.
