HEAVYWEIGHT INTERVIEW: Bill O’Reilly vs. Colin Powell

In an exclusive interview, Bill O’Reilly spoke to Colin Powell. The former secretary of state told O’Reilly that he voted for President Obama twice because he didn’t think the economic plans put forth by the Republican campaigns were “suited for times we were in.”

O’Reilly said he’s perplexed because President Obama’s plan hasn’t worked. The Factor host cited several statistics regarding African Americans and told Powell, “So you basically said to yourself I’m still going to support the guy even though his economic policies haven’t worked for African Americans and pretty much anyone else.”

Powell responded, “I’m not speaking as an African American. […] But we have seen a doubling of the stock market, the financial system has stabilized, the economy is starting to improve.”

Speaking about those at the lower end of the economic scale, specifically including African Americans and Latino Americans, Powell said they can begin to rise economically if they receive the education needed for the jobs in higher demand.
