The shocking resignation of General David Petraeus as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, ostensibly due to an extra-marital affair, has thus far been handled with admirable discretion by most in the media, out of respect for Gen. Petraeus’ long service to this country in times of war, and due to the intensely personal nature of the scandal. Old reliable Rupert Murdoch-owned The New York Post, however, has put on a solo clinic in one-upmanship with a series of characteristically crass Petraeus-related covers, culminating in Sunday’s Austin Powers-themed tabloid tableau.
