Poll: Supreme Court seen as too liberal and political

Public approval of the Supreme Court among both conservatives and independents slipped sharply following the court’s decision last week to uphold Obamacare by a narrow 5-4 vote.

A June 29-30 poll found that 28 percent of voters now say that the court is doing a poor job, up 11 points from a week earlier. Only 33 percent think the court is doing a good or excellent job, down 3 points from the week before.

Among conservative voters, 14 percent said the Supreme Court was doing a poor job a week ago; according to the new poll, 43 percent report that the court is doing poorly. A week ago, 35 percent of Democrats gave the court positive marks, but now 50 percent say the court if doing a good or excellent job.
