The term “Christian” is thrown around loosely these days. There are many who say they are Christian but who really aren’t. This is evidenced by the fact that although this is a nation where 83% identify themselves as Christians, Jesus said that only a “few” will make it to Heaven. Someone asked Jesus, “Lord, will only a few people be saved?” He answered them, “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many. How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few” (Luke 13:23, Matt. 7:13-14). He even said that some who do ministry in His name will not be in Heaven. “On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’” And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity.” Matthew 7:23-24
So then, what makes a person a Christian? Jesus also answered that question when He said “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but those who do the will of My Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 7:21.
So then, what is the Father’s will regarding homosexuality? Leviticus 20:13 “If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.” And in Romans 1:26-27 “Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.” (“In themselves” can either mean experiential or physical through STDs). In fact the Bible even says that God is the inventor of AIDS and that death is a just punishment for homosexuality. Romans 1:32 “Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death” (e.g. AIDS), “they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.” (Here is a condemnation of liberals). Therefore Obama has no credibility in claiming the Bible as a basis for his pro-gay marriage stance.
Therefore, Romans 1:32 says that although Obama said that he consulted with his Christian sensibility to come to a pro-gay marriage stance, he is not a Christian and doesn’t have a “Christian sensibility” (aka the Holy Spirit). He has his own sensibility. Franklin Graham (Billy Graham’s son) said, “Obama has shaken his fist at God with his stance for gay marriage.”
Also, 2Thess. 2:12, says that if a pro-gay marriage person were to die today with that stance, they would not go to Heaven. “Then everyone who did not believe the truth, but was delighted with what God disapproves of, will be condemned.” And one way that a person expresses that delight is: how they vote … especially if it’s for a candidate who supports gay marriage or any other sin. Of course there is always the hope that they will eventually change their position before they die and do what is necessary to be eligible for Heaven.
There are many who make up their own theology, saying that God accepts homosexuality because He is a God of love and He is a forgiving God. Both of these are true. But He is also a holy God. Love just means He’s bonded to those He’s created. So because of that, He works with them towards a good end, which is: living a holy life and ending up in Heaven. Forgiveness just means that He overlooks a person’s sin IF they repent. For example, in our lives, it’s one thing to forgive someone who has done something wrong against us. BUT, we don’t have restored friendship with them unless there has been an apology. Otherwise the Bible directs us to not have friendship with them anymore. 2Corinthians 6:14, “Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?”
Now here is a very important point for the “cafeteria Christians” who make up their own theology. If ANY of the verses that I’ve cited here aren’t true, then that means that the Bible is not a perfect document from a perfect God and therefore any of the other verses in the Bible are suspect … including if there is a Heaven. Therefore, a person can’t have assurance that there is a Heaven awaiting them if they aren’t totally behind all of what the Bible says.
So because of that, I utilized my backgrounds in science and psychology and set out to see to what extent the Bible can be proven to be a document that is all true. I was able to accomplish proof that it is all true and have spelled this out in my book THE PROOF that God exists and the Bible is true.
As a result now, as part of my mission, I try to make the culture and individuals aware of the point in this article, which shows how to determine who really is a Christian and who is claiming that identification falsely.
