Gingrich Scolds Gregory and Media for Making Limbaugh ‘The Great National Crisis of This Week’

With all that ails the nation, Meet the Press host David Gregory actually began his interview with Newt Gingrich by asking him about contraceptives and Rush Limbaugh.

Showing obvious disgust for the topic, the Republican presidential candidate marvelously responded, “You know, David, I am astonished at the desperation of the elite media to avoid rising gas prices, to avoid the President’s apology to religious fanatics in Afghanistan, to avoid a trillion dollar deficit, to avoid the longest period of unemployment since the Great Depression, and to suddenly decide that Rush Limbaugh is the great national crisis of this week” (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

        Churches are exempt, businesses are not. If you want to run a business in this country then you have to follow our laws.

          No. Rush Limbaugh does not represent anyone but himself. He is not anybody’s spokeperson. He is what is referred to as a “shock jock”, just like Howard Stern and many others. Extremists on either side of the fence don’t really represent the views of the majority of the group. They are just the loudest because they have access to the forum.

            There is not a constitutional contradiction involved at all. Congress has the right to regulate and religions do not have to go into for profit businesses. It is their choice and if they choose it, they have to follow the law.

          Oh come on??? no Daves, Republicans didn’t pick the fight…Rush Limbaugh did. He happens to be a republican…but even us that aren’t understand that difference. He is very vocal and sometimes says bad things just to get higher ratings. Just as some of the Democratic (80%) media tell untruths or half-truths to get their message out there.
          And about following “our” laws..They aren’t all “OUR” laws..some of them have been born behind closed doors on a Friday night so as not to draw any critic until it’s too late. I believe we should all try to do our research before so critically chastizing our oposition.

      I was listening to the program the day he made his comments and on the following days since. At NO time did Rush call her anything…..he stated what would you call someone who admits in front of TV cameras that she and her friends at Georgetown are promiscuous. He let his listeners make up their own minds.
      You know what I grew up calling women like what she admits to being?? A whore or slut….you make up your own mind.

        He shouldn’t have done this just for ratings and he did apologize for offending her. But REALLY, aren’t we faced with much bigger issues than Rush Limbaugh and Ms. Fluke?       All true what you state, but I believe Gregory supports anything Socialistic. That includes Obama and Islam which now(temporarily) finds it convenient to ally itself to Socialism because it’s anti- America.

      Jews respect all people of good will and faith, including good Muslims, NOT the barbaric terrorist types who are ready to destroy Isreal for it’s existence. The rest of the civilized Western world, including every American , is also part of their plan.

      @tod: Don’t be a dufus tod; have you ever sat down and talked with Newt? I didn’t think so. I have. I have also sat down with EACH of the candidates (even some who have now dropped out). Ron Paul talks well, but frankly, he has had the opportunity of 20 yrs experience to effect changes and failed miserably. So I fail to see how 4 more years will allow him to effect any meaningful influences on a corrupt DC.

      Newt on the other hand has ‘been there done that’ and Newt GOT IT DONE. He balanced a budget with a Democrat majority. He marched welfare reform through that same hostile environment and GOT IT DONE. Newt is not the same man he was in the mid 90s, and that is a good thing; he has matured and become a much more enthusiastic and principled leader; one that we desperately need. So although I like Ron Paul, and frankly I have ‘liked’ all the candidates…there is only one who can win AND get it done against this occupier currently in the WH: that’s Newt.
