Romney’s $55 Million Negative Attack Machine Now Targets Santorum

Mitt Romney and his supporters are spending more than $4 million in the battle for next Tuesday’s must-win Michigan primary, funding a barrage of negative attack TV ads aimed at Republican presidential rival Rick Santorum.

But the spending spree is nothing new for the Romney campaign, which spent $18.8 million in January, while a pro-Romney super PAC dished out nearly $14 million in Florida, 20 times the amount spent by any other group — mostly for attack ads against Newt Gingrich.

Overall, the Romney campaign has spent more than $55 million as of early February, with negative advertising accounting for much of that amount.

Yet Romney doesn’t have a lot to show for all that spending. Of the nine GOP primaries and caucuses held so far, the former Massachusetts governor has won just four. Santorum, meanwhile, pulled off stunning victories in three states on Feb. 7, winning the Missouri primary and caucuses in Minnesota and Colorado.

Mitt Romney is just like Obozo. He’s a DemonRat in an elephant suit. He’s not a true conservative. He’s a RINO!!! Now, I really dislike him even more for wasting big money on attacking Santorum in slanderous attack ads. He needs to save his money for attacks on Obozo. I don’t like what Romney did to Newt Gingrich. It seems that the more money one has that person wins. I don’t think that’s right. And Obozo has billions of dollars at his disposal. Does that mean since he has more money he’ll win the election in 2012, or will he steal it? See website: http://www.haasstrep68.com

If your campaign plan is to attack and try to destroy your GOP opponent in the primaries I question your ability to perform. Romney’s plan sounds quite a bit like someone else I know who currently occupies the Oval Office. We don’t need that type of candidate. We need to change Washington not continue the madness. We must also replace the establishment republicans who accept the minority role as long as they are still in office, the democrats will essentially destroy themselves with their radical agenda. Come on America, let’s set things right. I’m voting for Santorum.

I am with you. I laugh when people say Mitt is a conservative.

To me it would be more productive to spend the money on ads explaining what they stand for and what they hope to accomplish, than on attacking an opponent. They seem to spend more time attacking each other than Obama. This way, Obama will win in the end.

char…. we understand that it would be better to run ads on what THEY STAND FOR…..not degrade the next guy or gal……….WHAT IS IN THE HEART …therefore is what a person is…….if you have to spend millions to degrade another person….keeps the folks off what you are really all about…. ROMNEY IS JUST ANOTHER RINO……why other wise is the establisment pushing him into our face……did you hear his econmical speech today…?????lock stepwith the imposter……great!!!!!get one deceiver out …put another in….. he can fool some ……some of the time……..but not all ……all of thee time….. better be careful what you wish for!!!!!!

  • The Zen Patriot.

Santorum scares the crap out of me, he’s a zealot and zealots are Dangerous in positions of power. Mitt Romney. hmmm not sure but he is a VERY good money man and he’s honest.
Newt Gingich is a dishonest slimebag. A serial philanderer. Newt took money from the tax payers as a lobbyiest.
Ron Paul. he’s a great doctor but in 20 years in Congress has yet to get a bill passed. He needs some prune juice and lots of bran. Paul as President? Are you freaking nuts?

Santorum is a big government liberal. He believes the government can solve all our social problems.

  • Dorris

I have been doing a LOT of research on all of them for the last 5mos.
    Romney,
He is just a Republican Obama, and very evil with his remarks ,any time you waste precious time on slamming other candidates you are hoping if you say enough on all the other people running, your deflecting people away from your past. And I promise you he is running neck and neck on how well he can either avoid the truth are tell a lie almost as big as Barack, and believe me that is saying something.

    Ron Paul
Really like him and he has a lot of good to give to the office,I just don’t think he could stand up to a debate with Mr. CURRUPTION Barack, He has the direst people writing on his Teleprompter, remember Chicago crooks? The buy and sell people.

    Santorum,
Really like him also, but I just don’t think he has enough life experiences to understand the dirty mines of Barack and his cohorts.
In the future I would definitely vote for him. But for right I would Love to see him as Vice President and get more experience.

    Last but not Least,
    Newt Gingrich,
He has a lot of experience and knows how to handle the politicians, the dirty and the clean.
The Dems. don’t want him in because he would make them stick the CONSTITUTION, you do know he knows it by hart, and will stick to it.
They have said a lot of things that are NOT true, the things that he was accused of have been proven to be fake, but they don’t tell you that.I found this out by researching back to before he was speaker of the house, and when he became the Speaker of the House, when he was the Speaker and the investagation was complete all the charges that were made ,after all said and done he was exonerated from all the charges. But they aren’t telling that part of the story.
So after all said and again ,My Vote as an Independent I will cast my vote for NEWT GINGRICH.
TO ME A VOTE FOR GINGRICH, IS A VOTE FOR AMERICA.

At this point in order to get this Regime out of OUR HOUSE and COUNTRY Id vote for RINN TINN,TINN,or Lassie least they he would tell you some one is fell in the well and needs help. What we have in there now would laugh and walk away.

    • mamagrizzly”sfriend

dorris……you are so right ..and you said it so well…….GOD BLESS AMERICA…….GOD SHED YOU GRACE ON THEE……we are at the point that if god does not step in ……….this point of no return is real…… party should not come into play in this election……research …and besure of what that person really stands for……

  • Dorris

The only way Mitt Romney has gotten to where he is, is by slinging MUD at all of his opposition.
His opposition has no chance to sling mud back. If they do, the MUD comes back at them, 2 fold,, in more mud and muck from the Romney camp.

  • The Truth

The Romney attack machine will continue with is policy of trying to drag the front runner into the mud with him, since Romney has no real solutions and cannot possibly defend his own past liberal policies as gov. of MA to any conservatives. Like obama, and in typical Romney fashion, he will continue to blame others. We don’t need another obama and Romney is too similar in all the worst ways.

  • Nanci

Just read these silly posts. Mitt and the GOP crowd has everyone in the republican party at each others throats. Obama laughs in your faces to see this ridiculous chatter about the GOP candidates and how they’re not conservatives. The most liberal GOP candidate is far better than the most conservative demo. Ya gotta choose one person and lend your support or it’ll be 4 more years of the Obama dictatorship. Remember, his 2nd term as president, will surly be the worst for America because he’ll do even more damage to America as he’ll have nothing to lose unless he usurps the Constitution (again) and somehow gets to run for a third term.
