Marco Rubio is Top Choice for VP Among GOP Voters in Poll

Print Friendly

He has said –over and over and over again– that he does not intend to be the GOP vice presidential nominee.

But, evidently, the disclaimer matters little to the public.

Senator Marco Rubio of Florida once again has emerged in a national poll as the favorite to occupy the slot that is a heartbeat away from the presidency.

Beating out household names such as New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Rubio was the top choice in a new poll that asked roughly 800 registered Republican and Independent voters across the country: “No matter who is the Republican nominee for president, if you could pick the vice presidential nominee, who would it be?”

The PROBLEM is that he isn’t a Natural Born Citizen. But with the recent ruling in Georgia, that may change.

    • Big Ugly, Wyoming

The “ruling” in Georgia is in direct violation of the Constitution – it changes nothing.
Rule of Law is Rule of Law.

      • http://righthook38.wordpress.com righthook

Mark Levin, who is a Constitutional attorney, says Rubio is eligible. I trust Levin on this one.

        • neverwillbemypres

Rubio is NOT eligible.. Play by the rules, not the liberal playbook.

This is the only way we can win and stay America…if you throw away your morals, what good are you???

        • Captain Shays

You trust Levin and Israel firster? Maybe that wasn’t your first mistake but it may be one of your worst.

        • Carlos

pResident Obama is also a constitutional lawyer. Do you trust him?

        • David in MA

Rubio was born in Fla to two Cuban citizen refugees,
he is a native born citizen but NOT a natural Born citizen,
his parents did not become American citizens until Mr. Rubio
          was around four years old.
          He is NOT eligable.

However, this may explain why the republicans were silent over
oboz’s eligability, they plan to use it as a precidend to run Rubio.
Unlike algebra, in America, two wrongs do not make a right!

2012, ANYONE who is running for re-election must be voted out
along with obozo, anyone from both parties……out!

        • USAF VET

Mark is not always right, and this is one of those times. Marco Rubio is not elligable to be Vice President, any more than Obumski is elligable to be President.

      • RacerJim

The ruling in Georgia was also in direct violation of Georgia election law which mandates that the burden of proof of eligibility to be on the ballot is on the candidate not a challenger — in this case the candidate didn’t even show up at the hearing.

Obama’s attorney in Georgia reportedly sent the hearing Judge and the Georgia Secretary of State copies of Obama’s short-form and long-form birth certificates — but Georgia law mandates that the Judge can only consider evidence presented during the hearing.

As allowed by Georgia election law the ruling has been appealed to the Superior Court of Georgia, and we’ll soon find out if the “Rule of Law is Rule of Law.” in Georgia.

    • Lobo VNVMC

There is no requirement that the VP be a ‘Natural Born Citizen’ so Rubio could be the VP. The problem would be that he could not fill the presidency if something were to happen to the President and I believe the Secretary of State would be the next in-line.

      • Lobo VNVMC

Sorry I think you need to read the the Constitution again.

        • Lobo VNVMC

The comment to read the constitution was directed at Woolfy.

      • Lobo VNVMC

My mistake, it is the Speaker of the House who follows in line after the VP.

        • David in MA

But, if the VP is inelegable the Speaker pro tem is next.

      • Rebecca

It directly says in the Constitution that the VP candidate has to meet all of the qualifications for President. Why don’t you read the Constitution before you post and show your ignorance. Our forefathers were smart enough to cover this area. Please Read The Constitution!!!!!!

    • Rebecca

You are absolutely right, Jeff! And the people supporting him for VP are just showing their ignorance. Plus, he is turning out to not be quite the conservative that he ran as. As a Floridian, I do not plan to vote for him again.

  • http://www.fastnesteggs.com bobindallas

Rubio has that Oblamer birth problem … so he’s a no go for the GOP.

  • Dagny

The recent ruling in Georgia cannot trump out the U.S. Constitution. The natural born clause is still a requirement to be President. But both parties care very little about the Constitution. That is why this country is a mess. The fact that this traitor Rubio would even consider running, says that he is not a conservative nor a candidate that will protect and defend the Constitution. He cares not that the US resemble Cuba. Garbage in and garbage out. I will write in Ron Paul’s name in the general election because I will never vote unconstitutionally again! The currupt Republican Party will go the way of the Whigs unless they turn around and start putting our country first. Ron Paul 2012!!

    • Oregon Bill

Back in your hole, Paulbot. Rubio is a true patriot and a Conservative, also a splendid example of an admirable man. Ron Paul’s far left foreign policy view makes him absolutely unacceptable to the Republican Party, his fiscal view is sound but he could never win a state in the general election, look at the polls in Texas, he’s dead last, get a grip on reality and stop smoking that stuff.

      • Big Ugly, Wyoming

        Ron Paul’s “far left” policy?
Have you ever bothered to read the Constitution, or the writings of our Founding Fathers?
Ron Paul’s “foreign policy” is absolutely Constitutional.
You may, of course, prove me wrong by the simple presentation of the proper documentation …… or you may continue in you Obama-like stance of non-documentation.

    • http://righthook38.wordpress.com righthook

Slow down there, Dagny. Rubio is NOT a traitor. He’s a patriot. And he isn’t running…he’s said many times he isn’t. Also, if he isn’t eligible, he won’t do it. He would never ignore the Constitution in this matter. Chill out. Ron Paul’s foreign policy is very dangerous, especially now…..and, I’m sick of his opinion that everything is America’s fault. He needs to stop blaming us for the world’s ills. If it weren’t for us, half of these nations wouldn’t even exist as they do today. We help them financially and with food and other aid. So, I don’t want to hear it from Paul.

      • Carlos

I agree, Rubio is a good guy. It’s unfortunate he is not a natural born citizen.

  • PISSED OFF PATRIOT

Rubio should be the Presdiential candidate not the VP, why should this young guy with a brilliant future tie himself to these losers, ok a Christi / Rubio ticket yes or a Trump / Rubio ticket or vice versa would win. I cant believe these bunglers at the RNC are handing this creep Obama the election on a silver platter, Christ I thought Mc Cain was bad enough he looks like Thomas Jefferson compared to this crowd, DRAFT Rubio he’ll win

    • jackel

It didn’t matter with Osama,he has broken every law necessary. He and his mafia gang don’t even know what that means.

    • fordman

      IDIOT!

  • Larry N

You can’t say Obama is not natural born and then put someone else that isn’t natural born in office.

  • Captain Shays

Oregon Bill you don’t have a frigging clue. Ron Paul draws more from active military than ALL the candidates (Obama, Gingrich, Santorum nd Romney) COMBINED and nearly multiplied by three. He draws more from independents than ANY other. He draws more from Democrats than ANY other Republican. He draws more from non whites than ANY other Republican. He has his own supporters who aren’t as naive as the standard establishment voter who would never even consider voting for another candidate. So if the GOP wants to win back the White House Ron Paul is their BEST chance. Oh. By the way. I am no pot smoking kid.
Hey isn’t it great that your stupid hero Levin got bumped off the show? Let’s hope more stations follow suit

    • Woolfy

The reason he has military backing in money is because they know he won’t send them to war. The military was CREATED to defend us, which many times includes war.
Just because Paul gets those donations doesn’t make him the right guy.

  • Dolores F. Tamoria

Who says so? I thought the selected Nominee for President chooses his running Mate. Did something change when I wasn’t looking?

  • tweety

I hear Rubio was contacted by the new cardinal Dolan and asked to sponsor a bill repeal the infamous “accommodation” rule. Go, Marco!

  • joe

    not eligible

  • Woolfy

Only a Natural Born Citizen can be Prez or VP. Period. And the reason for this was to protect our country from someone that may have ties to any other country and their beliefs. I give you Obama has a prime example of a President that disdains America and its people and favors Euro and Muslim doctrines. Enough said!

    • Lobo VNVMC

Sorry, I think you need to read the the Constitution again if you ever have.

      • Rebecca

LoBo, you keep suggesting everyone go read the Constitution. May I suggest that you go and read it yourself. You seem to be woefully ignorant about what it says about the VP. IT CLEARLY STATES THAT THE VP MUST MEET ALL THE QUALIFICATIONS FOR PRESIDENT. Is that big enough for you to read??

I like Rubio. Too bad he’s not a natural born citizen.

  • AL, Orange Park, FL

DON’T BE FOOLED BY RUBIO, he isn’t what the media including these people say he is.
This guy voted FOR the National Defense Authorization Act. PLEASE find it Google it but READ it especially sections 1021 & 1022! I ASSURE YOU, you will not want Marco Rubio anywhere near the white house!
