What’s Happened to Ann Coulter?

Print Friendly

On a Sunday morning appearance on “Fox & Friends,” conservative columnist Ann Coulter tried unsuccessfully to explain why Romney got beaten by Newt Gingrich in the South Carolina GOP presidential primary. Here’s what she said:

“Apparently, South Carolinians would rather have the emotional satisfaction of a snotty remark toward the president than to beat Obama in the fall.”

When I first heard this, I thought the article was about Catherine Coulter, the mystery writer.

Ann Coulter is the queen of the “snotty remark.” Her entire career has been built on the quick retort, the turn of a clever phrase, and buckets of snotty remarks. Coulter is the epitome of the put down. She has described herself as a polemicist who likes to “stir up the pot” and does not “pretend to be impartial or balanced, as broadcasters do.”

You go Ann your right on newt can’t beat Obama

    • http://Conservativebyte.com Freedom_road

A gnat and a Newt could beat Oblamer!

      • USAF VET

Ann Coulter has been in the tank for Romney since the begining and has a closed mind to the fact that Mitt Romney is not a Conservative. He even admitted it himself by saying that he was a Moderate and a Progressive. He will push a lot of the things that Obumski has been trying to get through since 1/20/2009. We need someone who will eliminate Obumskis executive orders, push to repeal Obamacare, stop Cap and Tax, fight against the Illegal Trespassers. Romney will not do that.

        • singer23

Sorry, she hasn’t been for Romney, “From The Beginning,” she’s only been for him since, “Chubs Christie’s” been for him! She has been on his trail and tail, she’s made a fool of herself, ever since! Christie isn’t a Conservative but Coulter has been, “Ga,Ga,” over him, I don’t get her! Her attacks on Newt Gingrich have been fierce, she has been vicious and unfair, she’s beginning to sound like Arianna Huffington! Don’t forget, Huffington began as a Conservative!

          • patrice

good point there on huffington beginning as a conserv..i notice ann is acting strange these days also.

    • Dennis

All I've heard out of Coulter's mouth for years is "We need a real conservative in the white house!" Now she wants Romney? She has lost her mind!

    • gparra9

How do you know, is that what your crystal ball tells you???

    • madog2

So tim, What gives you and skinny minnie the inside to who is and who isen't going to do what? It has become boring to hear all the elite experts tell tell the public who is going to win or loose in the elections and exactly what all of the American public is thinking. It's as if these know-it-alls want the people to think that they are nearly as smart as the muslim/marxist con man in the dark house.

      • madog2

Excuse me, I should have said the doomed house with the wonderful garden that can feed thousands

    • Mr Jack

The Key Word here is Queen.

    • Mr Jack

Anybody can beat onumbnuts dumbass. As long as they have a pulse. Unlike many onumbnuts voters.

  • Art

    She drink the koolaid.

  • http://Conservativebyte.com Freedom_road

A dead fish could beat Ocommie, all you to do is look at his record! Everything he has done is against this country and every chance he gets he bashes us. All the flowery telaprompter speaches helping people or loving this country, then he turns around and has done the opposite 100% of the time. I hope Georgia forces this imposter to disclose his full and fraudulant records!!!

    • BUD

EVEN THE BLACK PEOPLE AND HISPANIC PEOPLE HAVE LOST FAITH IN obummer.

  • Virginia

For the first time, I'm ashamed for Ann. Especially after her screeching defense of Romney on Bill O'Reilly the other night.

    • Jos C Moore-USN Ret

You actually watch O'Reilly after his big government stance and acceptance of Obama as legitimate?

      • Carol Dunson

I agree and haven’t watched O Reily since he had Obama on his show before the last election. As far as I’m concerned he sold him to the conservatives and independants. Not all of us however. Oh, me.

    • Mark

you're right, virginia. Until now, I thought she was the consummate conservative. She's said some silly things in the past, but now I'm rethinking my admiration for her.

  • Sama

She is "ALL for PARTY" and the Republican Party wants Romney regardless of the Tea Party's influence. Romney has 'earned' his shot. The PARTY wants to leave the TEA PARTY behind. The Party feels o will win re-election so they are more interested in the House and the Senate. For some unfathomable reason they think having Congress will slow down obama. obama has already shown and also promised that he wants a government that doesn't rely on Congress. We don't need another appeaser like McCain. It is going to take a steel spined stand up guy to get the job done from the White House on down.

    • Guest

I am tired of the Republican Party and the Congressional Careerist telling US, the United States citizens who we are going to vote for. Should they continue, Obama will be re elected!

  • jerry1944

Maybe she found a liberail old man and she swiitched over for him but i know for sure i will never vote for romney. Still wish Bachmann hadnt droped out

    • gullah

I agree Jerry. She was really good on the issues. Saw her speak a couple of times and she was great. Santorum has seen the light on illegal immigration. Go to NUMBERSUSA to view their grades.

  • Jlcapps

Ann is just showing her true colors. She’s just another establishment type. Romney is sooooo weak. How can he defend obamacare against obama? He can’t. He’s another McCain. He couldn’t beat McCain who didn’t beat obama. What’s changed? Same ol same ol. What a joke!

  • Gin7

Ann Coulter is not a conservative! I realized that when I found out she supports & advocates for “Go-Proud”, a pro gay republican interest group. That is her prerogative if she wants to support them but don’t call yourself a Conservative. That is why she is supporting Romney because he was in favor of gay marriage as governor of Massachusetts.

    • Sylvia M. Auten

Noooooo HIS DEMOCRAT LEGISLATURE PASSED THAT. LOOK IT UP THE SAME WAY AS HIS DEMOCRAT LEGISLATURE TRIED TO GET HIM TO DESTROY LIVE EMBRYOS. THAT IS WHEN HE SAID FOR SURE, HE NO LONGER SUPPORTED THE SUPREME COURT RULING OF ROE VS. WADE WHICH GAVE WOMEN THE 'RIGHT TO CHOOSE' TO CHOOSE TO DO WHAT????? TAKE A BABY OUT OF THE WOMB AND LET IT DIE. HE HAS FIVE
CHILDREN AND JUST BECAUSE HIS MOTHER HELPED ASSIST UNWED MOTHERS AND BECAME INVOLVED IN PLANNED PARENTHOOD HE CONSIDERED HER VIEW AT THAT TIME AND RAN PRO CHOICE. HOWEVER, HE
SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER, AND DID COME TO REALIZE JUST WHAT THAT MEANT. NO HE IS NOT PRO CHOICE AND NO HE IS NOT PRO GAY AND IS PRO FAMILY NO MATTER WHAT ANN COULTER SAYS. AFTER SHE HAS RAISED A FAMILY WE WILL SEE WHERE HER TRUE COLORS ARE.

  • ariz 41

why is everyone worked up about newt & mitt. i'd vote for hagar the horrible if he was running against obummer..

  • Rita65

Personally Ann has brought the ‘wrong’ attention to the definition of Christian. There was a time when she spoke out of her “Christian beliefs”; now it’s almost as though she put that aside and chose to just criticize everyone for everything….not thinking how gross it makes her appear.

  • tina

She is stuck somewhere between a RINO and a DINO. She has lost credability big time.

  • Larry White

Ann Coulter has departed my pantheon of trustworthy conservative voices. Newt2012!

  • Dennis

My comments were not harsh, threatening or racist. So what is the problem? Seems to me the title of this whole web page suggests a little violence.

  • Ann

Ms. Coulter seems to have let her fame and ability to turn a snitty phrase go to her head. One would almost dare to imagine she received an especially marvelous gift from Soros at Christmas time.

I used to have respect for her.

    • meralu

Anne is as perplexed as the rest of us. Dems can divide and conquer us for sure because we are so easy. As well, it is hard to think exactly as we do on every issue.
I do not want Ann to shut up now or ever and would like Christy as well. Cain, Bachman, Sarah or anyone except Obama. Back to Ann, I am glad she is a bitch.

  • stringercb

down here in the south we've always refered to Ann Coulter as ACID annie under cover LIB.

    • Mr Jack

What can you expect from a “Chick” with an Adams Apple? She/He dosen’t have a period, so that is no excuse.

  • http://Conservativebyte.com Clinging to My Religion and My Guns

This is exactly what the Demoncrat Communists want! They want to Divide and Conquer. Whoever the nominee winds up to be, we ALL have to get behind him and do everything we can to get out the vote. Every single man and women who loves their country has to get out and vote this Communist Imposter Usurping Despot out of that Oval Office which he never had claim to and stop the bickering amongst ourselves. Then we can go about handpicking Conservative candidates and get down to the business of healing our beloved country and ridding her from the likes of Reid, Pelosi, Holder, and the rest of Obama’s Progressive Henchmen. The immaterial will become the immaterial. Do it not, and your children will wake up slaves on the continent their Forefathers conquered. It’s Showtime!

  • Thunder92

Ann has an obsession with Mitt Romney. She had the same problem in 2008. Ann girl, lighten up!

    • Sylvia M. Auten

Then she better get a life. She does Mitt Romney no favors. She needs to keep her head. If she wants to vote for or support Mitt Romney that is a choice, but everyone needs to come to their own conclusion.

  • Thunder92

JIcapps, I've always said that McCain is the best Republican, the Democrats ever owned. His record proves it. He only turns real Republican during re-election season. 2010 proved that. Compared to what he said and did, and voted on, in the years before.

  • Kimmy

I do not care what she said about Newt. Nobody will buy her books anymore. She is RINO like Romney.

  • Golferj

I would marry her in a nano second. My kind of lady.

  • FlaJim

Coulter doesn't get out often enough. She maintains residences in NYC and DC, reads the NY Times and Washington Post every day, and isn't in touch with real America. She's spent too many years on the cocktail circuit in that corridor and finally been coopted. She's now just another navel gazer among the crowd that truly believes the rest of us are anxiously awaiting their pronouncements on any given occasion.

  • Dorothy

Ann needs to step back & listen to what she is saying she is so busy trying to get her point across that you can not have a conversation with her

  • KnowTheTruthToday

Who would care what this fake conservative thought. She is a ranting idiot.

  • Eli Jones

Nothing personnel but I have always considered Coulter to be a little dingy.

  • johnparry

WHO WROTE THIS PIECE ??? man up and take credit ! or criticism ? stop hiding !!!

    • Sylvia M. Auten

      Good point.

  • Steve

Not surprised. Long before the primary cycle started Ann was predicting Romney as the winner. I couldn't believe it when I heard it. Made me fell sick to my stomach that we would have to settle for the lesser of two evils yet again. But things have changed. Perhaps we will have a candidate besides Romney that can truly clean the floor with Obama and Lead.

But I am still convinced that the "establishment" in the GOP/RNC wants Romney and given the recent change in rules as to how a candidate wins the R nomination it is clear they are blatantly attempting to rub Romney in our noses. I am also convinced the GOP/RNC had better accept the fact it is they that are out of step with the people and should begin to listen unless they want to become a has been party.

  • Allyjayne

Shes an elitest liberal. Any questions? It’s amazing how the leaves are changing color as these debates go on. Vote for the one the media and establishment hate the most.

  • maquignon

I have bought my last Ann Coulter book and i have cancelled my subscription to Human Events. Annie has gone over to the other side!!!!

  • Rockin' Rick

Its a sad day today…Romney is now going to win the nomination…God help us…A true moderate who has the money to spew lies day after day to tear down any of his opponents and will stop at nothing and say anything to get elected…Wonder how many more times he will flip flop just to try to win the general election..When Obama wins a second term in Nov I dont want to hear ANY whining from you all….A true concervative would have at least had a chance at beating obama….Obama is going to eat Romney for lunch in the debates and the election.

  • Karen

Ann Coulter seems to be the only one who gets it–she knows what is important in this race and the man who can do it. That's Romney. People should try to listen to her sound arguments. She is brilliant! Thank you, Ann, for NOT drinking the KoolAid!

    • big jack

Are you kidding? She is delirious because of the KoolAid.

  • WARancher

I enjoyed Ann Coulter's columns for the entertainment factor until she started campaigning for Romney or against Gingrich. Lately I don't bother with her blather.

    • Terry Elliott

WARancher, You have a lot of company here. I have studied Newt Gingrich for nearly 30 yrs & in spite of his ‘warts’ he is the kind of person we need @ the helm – he’s brilliant, principaled, dedicated & tough as nails. We would drill for oil HERE & put the lunatic Ahmedinejad in his place – on his ass or dead !!!!

      • singer23

I agree with you completely! Newt is the only candidate with any chance of beating Obama! Romney and Santorum, stink and Paul lives on another planet!

  • michael

She needs to get OUT of politics! She only thinks about what the GOP wants. Not America!

  • MarcJeric

Ann Coulter is not so much pro-Romney – she is just convinced that Gingrich would lose to Mullah Obama.

  • NoPaulNoPork

What a shame. The poor woman has finally lost her mind.

  • AC7880

Ann has now become Rachael MadCow. Must be a brain tumor.

  • judy

Yeah, johnparry! Who is the sneak who wrote this inflamatory piece on Ann. Stand up and be counted or are you a drive by snot?

  • nannyroo

I am no longer a fan of Ann Coulter. I have bought my last book by her.

  • Ron Alford

Coulter is a looney tune. She thinks homosexuality is ok.

  • Millie

    Ann sees the whole picture.
I cannot understand how everyone is screaming that Newt is the conservative here. There is a lot more to being conservative than is being portrayed by many of you and the media. Does it not count to have high morals any more?
Newt is sinking because of his X wife's comments about an open marriage. The fact that he was carrying on with infidelity when going after Clinton for the same thing shows he is not the caliber guy to be president. We do not need a deceitful man like this governing America!
I forgive him, yes, but he does not deserve being our president! I don't care if he is a devout Catholic now, with 2 other previous religions. He's a mixed up man.

  • sclose

Anyone who considers themselves a conservative kneels at the altar of the late William F. Buckley. His first commandment was to nominate he/she who is the most conservative candidate with the best odds to win. As any sane person [this eliminates all lefties] can see, the top priority is to send Obama back to Chicago with the rest of the mob.

  • ELI

Nobama has no good record to run on! Nobama will be the "biggest loser" in 2012!

  • S Heal

It makes me sad that so many people are brainwashed by the Media including Fox that only Romney can beat obama.
Does it not make people wonder why the "establishment" so wants Romney to be the nominee. Here we go again……..Dole, McCain, lose. I hope I am wrong but Romney is no conservative and I'm afraid it will be the same oh, same oh if he is even elected. Newt is the only person who ran for office and actually did all the things that he said he would. do.. Romney just seems too slick for my taste.

    • r.n.d.

“Does it not make people wonder why the “establishment” so wants Romney to be the nominee?”
      —————-
Wodeing why Bush 41 endorsed Romney …

Think … Jeb Bush 2016 …… with the hope that the 2016 will be an election without a sitting POTUS ….. that’s RINOs’ and their associates thinking for 2012 ….

  • Lois MacLaren

BEFORE she was in favor of Romney, Anne Coulter was against him. At the very beginning of the campaigns, Anne Coulter said: “Republicans will nominate Romney. Then we’ll lose.”

  • Big Al Pal

Why don’t you Newt lovers spend a few hours on the internet and discover who he really is?
Who he thinks the greatest president is and who he has patterned himself to represent. I doubt you will call him a conservative after you “do your homework”. What about his support of Skozafava, the individual mandate, bailouts, illegal aliens, jumping from one woman to another while the one has cancer or the other MS, changing one church for another until he finds one in which he can purchase forgiveness. Yes, this man was instramental in pushing “gatt and nafta” through the legislative process; how has that worked out. If you do your homework you will find numerous “PROGRESSIVE” accomplishments in his resume. He worships the progressive presidents, FDR, Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson. PLEASE find out who this man is before you blindly support him. HE IS A PROGRESSIVE.
    What isw Obama?

    • singer23

That’s a load of bull! He is the only candidate with actual Conservative accomplishments! The other, “Candidates,” tell you what they’d like to do, Newt, has done everything he’s said he’s done! I guess you’ve never heard of, “Political Expediency,” It’s called that because in the political arena, one never gets everything one wants, so you have to compromise, otherwise, you end up getting nothing accomplished! Example, just look at the condition Washington is in at this time! A total impasse!

      • Albaby

You got it right! Mitt is Obama with less pigmentation.

  • big jack

Ann is part of the republican party elite. Much like the elite in the democratic party who think fly over Americans need a nanny so do the elites in the republican party think they need to pick our candidate ,well they gave us Dole, McCain and now Romney. They talk a good conservative game until they have the nomination sewed up and then turn milk toast RINO’s . Our country is in deep dodo , we need a third party and need it now. If Romney is the republican nominee Obama will be reelected , so you can say Ann is doing Obama’s bidding. Then she can go on criticizing Obama and make more millions selling her books. What a phoney.

  • Phoebe

Ann is witty and intelligent. However, she is ego-driven and has a low tolerance for others’ opinions that differ from her own. That’s her biggest shortcoming.

  • same ole

Haa All, Remember Romney stepped down to let McCain lose against Obama. At the time I felt better about Romney over McCain than Romney stepped down. I can not understand why he gave up the thrown for MCCain who handed the Presidency to OBummer…
    I get it now…

  • Terry Elliott

I have long been an ardent fan of Ann Coulter but it seems that she has wandered off the reservation, 1st by wanting Chris Christie to run for president – let’s face it, New Jersey is not a breeding ground for conservatives & w/Christie endorsing Romney, that sealed it for me – I do not support Romney nor do most real conservatives – he has no core beliefs & I don’t think nor hope that he will get the nomination – however, if he were to gain the nomination, I will hold my nose & vote for him, for just about any republican is a far better choice than the illegal Kenyan commie/lib/socialist/fascist bastard the the dummies in this nation voted into office in 2008. He just HAS to go – this nation cannot survive another 4 yrs of this miscreant – he won’t be concerned with any reelection needs & will shove everything we don’t want down our throats & we will end up living in a nation unrecognizable as the one we know & love. No matter which man or woman gets the republican nomination, we must get behind that person – our very survival & freedoms are @ stake. This is the most important election in the 76 yrs that I have lived, ain’t no doubt.

    • meralu

Christy can convince people to listen to him. We need him.

  • Buck

Sure , Newt could beat Obamass , but would you want him and his lies in the White House ? Personally , I believe ANYONE the republicans put all their resources behind could and would beat Obamass . But the progressives in the republican party want an effective republican president anymore than the progressive demon rats . The ONLY clear choice we have for an EFFECTIVE CONSERVATIVE president is the libertarian RON PAUL .

  • Alexandra Mark

Has it occurred to anyone that Ann may be in love with a liberal? She sure isn’t the conservative I used to admire. Her crush on Chris Christie was embarrassing, and the transfer on to Mitt even more bewildering. Has she become a card-carrying member of the ‘Establishment’? In the annals of cosmic questions, that isn’t even merit a blip, but just curious!!

  • Shang

The only agreement among we Republicans is to keep Obama from becoming re-elected in November, 2012. With this as our priority, what then among the four candidates, Newt, Romney, Santorum and Paul are the priorities we seek in a Republican president?

The leadership with a strong and steadfast resolve to return our country to its once former greatness, a return to our constitution as it is meant to be followed, a return to economical soundness which will open up employment for the many who are in need of work. Once again, have a military force with the might to such an extent that no country dare provoke America as has been done repeatedly for the last several years without retaliation.

A leader that will not tolerate the pettiness and political games being played by those in our congress who have failed miserably to represent we citizens and in doing so have brought our country to an all time low in the eyes of the world. This country has been weakened by the inaction of this congress in passing any positive legislation…legislation such as Obamacare, is a monster which will be as a vacuum sucking more and more money along with our freedom of choice from all of we citizens. Cutting military spending, eliminating needed resources for our military.

It would be advisable for all who vote to shun the pundits and polls. Rather, vote your inner conscience, follow the dictates of your conscience. Vote your own thoughts as an individual…toss aside those who endorse this candidate or that candidate. Follow your own lead, your own moral principles. We, as individuals, know best what affects our lives…we would do well for ourselves if all would take a good look at each candidate…listen closely with each word spoken by the candidates. Make a list of things each candidate says of how and what their plans are to make America great again, how those plans will benefit all of us. After having done this, check your lists of plans as given to us by each candidate and make a sound decision of who best will have the plan you will be comfortable. One such important plan is to listen to our candidates on the oil situation…it is imperative for this nation to take advantage of all our oil resources here in our own country. We have the land and resources in oil for this country to be self sufficient without dependency on any country. But, the past administrations have ignored these resources and because of their inaction (political) look how it has effected our being dependent upon countries that would kill all of us in a minute. Yet, past administrations have kept sending money to them while those very countries are our worst enemies.

As we all know, this election is most important to rid ourselves of Obama…we must work diligently to oust him and all those who have weakened our country by destroying all that has made us great!

As for Ann Coulter and those of her ilk, we should just ignore their opinions. Its only their opinions, not yours nor mine. Vote your mind, do not be lead by others. Please remember we need a leader of strength, one in office who will do battle with those domestic or foreign who purpose is to undermine our freedom and way of life as was written out in our constitution.

Best to all and God Bless America.

  • Albaby

She also considers Ron Paul an expert on the Constitution. I think she’s gone off the deep end.

  • smilingavenger

    PARTY LINES
Let’s build up huge government programs like ‘No Child Left Behind’ and put colonies on the moon! Santorum / Gingrich

Let’s fire the Washington beaurocrats, lower taxes, repeal Obamacare and go back to the constitution. Romney / Paul

  • Lois MacLaren

Before the campaigns began, Anne Coulter said:  ”The GOP will nominate Romney – then we will lose.”  Since Santorum and Gingrich -between them – recently won about 70% of the vote in Alabama and Mississippi, it looks like Anne Coulter is about ready to learn that she was correct the first time she made an observation about the GOP nominee.  In spite of the fact that a growing number of registered Republicans are indicating that they do NOT find much about Romney to support, GOP party leaders appear to be determined to push Romney as the preferred nominee anyway!
