Victoria’s Secret Investigated by Homeland Security

U.S. investigators are conducting a preliminary inquiry into forced child labor used in an organic and fair-trade cotton program that supplies the American lingerie retailer Victoria’s Secret, a federal law enforcement official confirmed this week.

Victoria’s Secret’s parent company, Limited Brands (LTD) Inc., said in an e-mailed statement yesterday that it continues “to take this matter very seriously as we do not tolerate child labor.” Those practices were disclosed in a Dec. 15 Bloomberg News report about the program the company buys from in Burkina Faso. Fairtrade International, the Bonn-based organization that certified the cotton, said in a statement last week that it has “prioritised further training on child labour and child protection for its members” beginning in early 2012.

At the same time, both Fairtrade and the company have disputed elements of the story. Bloomberg News stands by its reporting.

    This is the same kind of thing that happened to the Gibson guitar manufacturer, one of Gibson’s main competitors a big Obama supporter while the Gibson folks are not, the government trumping up problems regarding Gibson’s use of exotic woods while their competitor uses the very same wood but wasn’t investigated.   That’s just it! Victoria’s Secret isn’t some “other agency”. It is a business, a corporation, a job-producer and contributor to a free-market/capitalist-based economy. As Obama and his cronies have so flagrantly demonstrated already, they are not about going after and prosecuting corruption or illegalities in the gov’t or any of it’s agencies – they are all about going after big business and free enterprise. Whether these allegations are true or false my question is: “What in the heck is Homelande Security doing investigating this activity?” I thought their charter was something completely different like helping to ensure our nation remains safe. Unless they discover that Victoria’s Secret is secretly making exploding panties or booby holders to be sold to women all around the country only to be detonated remotely (for what ever “evil” reason Victoria’s Secret may harbor) I see no valid reason why Homeland Security would be utilized in this endeavor. The only somewhat viable reason I can come up with is that there isn’t enough for Homeland Security to do because they’re under entirely different marching orders under this administration (i.e. being ordered to look the other way if and when they actually “do” find a threat to the American people) so they’ve decided to keep the idle minds and hands busy with some diversionary tactic. Of course the only real threats they ARE concerned is if it’s something coming from an American citizen and directed at our government. According to HS, practically every American citizen now is labled a “terrorist”. Maybe they’ve uncovered the diabolical plot by Victoria’s Secret to “seduce all men to do their (Victoria Secret’s) dirty business by hypnotizing us with spinning tassles in our bedrooms and strip clubs.

Beside the child labor thing, I just want to know, how does child labor come under homeland security, and if it is in another country, don’t you think that you have over steped the boundries of your so called powers?

Obama will be able to further divide the country along racial lines by giving undeserved credence to the disastrously false myth that the only thing men of color want to do is get into a white woman’s pants. Why is Homeland Security concerned about child labor…at least someone is working. As far as the organic and fair trade cotton program goes there isn’t that much material used in their product anyway. It seems Homeland Security does not care about our porous borders only porous underwear.

Obama is trying to stop child labor on american farms. This plays along with that. If you read the rest of the story, it was all about child labor on the farms where the cotton was grown and if he can stop this in those areas of the world, then he will be more able to stop farm kids from driving tractors, feeding the livestock or helping their parents out on the farms here…He thinks this is child slavery. He doesn’t realize that the farm kids learn to work, learn discipline and respect… I was raised on a farm and proud of it..I was driving a tractor at 10 years old, learned how to survive and make something of myself. It didn’t hurt me or shorten my life, I am 75 and still give a full days work. By the way mooshele I am not overweight either…

We USED TO have huge acreage of cotton in OUR OWN country.

We USED TO have hundreds of thousands, if not more, people working in fabric manufacturing.

We USED TO be able to shop in most stores and purchase USA-made garments, and we very, very rarely had to snip hanging strings, re-attach buttons, etc.

We USED TO wash garments made from USA-made/dyed fabrics and not see sploches of fading after a few washings.

We USED TO have all those workers as taxpayers and contributing to OUR economy.

This administration will stop at nothing to destroy this country. Half the citizens are takers and the other half are the workers. The takers will vote for Oboma and the workers will vote for American values. Our nation is uninformed BIG TIME!!! When people on the street are interviewed, most of them can’t answer simple questions about our country. That’s sad. I went through school in the fifties and early sixties. I knew the states and capitals, Mason/Dixon line, La. purchase, largest state, longest river, sputnik etc. etc. My grandkids only know about facebook, youtube. Ipads google, smart phones…………..and the list goes on. Don’t ask them what time it is, they have to go find a digital clock. What are senators and congressmen, they go to the computer and look it up. THEY ARE IN HIGH SCHOOL!!!! I’m affraid they will become takers because they don’t have any life skills or ambition. They have been taught that the gov. will take care of them in our schools. To many progressives teaching our kids. We only get to see them at Christmas and there’s no time to erase their mental tapes and teach them the truth about America and her values and that hard work is rewarding. GOD HELP US PLEASE
