Poll: Paul, Perry on move in SC

Print Friendly

Mitt Romney leads the GOP presidential field in South Carolina, but his rivals are closing in fast.

Newt Gingrich is close behind the former Massachusetts governor, while Ron Paul and Rick Perry have posted impressive gains over the past week, according to an American Research Group poll released on Friday.

Romney came in at 29 percent, followed by Gingrich at 25 percent, Paul at 20 percent, Perry at 9 percent, Rick Santorum at 7 percent and Jon Huntsman at 1 percent.

Paul has climbed 11 percent in the last week and Perry has gained 7 percent. Santorum, who was tied for second in last week’s poll at 24 percent, plummeted into fifth place in the current poll.

Since South Carolina is part of the Bible belt and has a heavy population of Southern Baptists they should know better than to vote for Romney — a pro-abortion RINO!! The people in South Carolina need to wake up and start smelling the coffee. Because if we keep voting leaders into office who support killing the unborn, America’s future, we’re not going to have a future. Because, abortion IS killing America!!! Paul and Gingrich are the best candidates for the Republican presidential race. See website: http://www.haasstrep68.com

Do you forget that Newt was an advisor to Freddie Mac just before they ran over the cliff and required bailing out by the tax payers? Not a very good advisor if you ask me. Even President Bush was trying to stop the maddness of Freddie and Fannie. Why didn’t Newt know?

      • gtx13

You are wrong ! Everybody is working for his family living ! Newt didn’t steal this money ($$ 30 K per year is nothing), because he had a real company !He did not take the money from Federal Reserves as Solyndra did it !
You don’t see a lot of crooking people behind the doors as Romney did it into obscurity of Bain Capital, when made millions and fired the people !! !!

      • gtx13

…Right ! Freddie and Fannie Mae have failed because Newt was paid as consultant $30,000 per year ! …Not because the crooking banks into real estate industry, the two wars and trillions $$$ spent for TARP, bailout or other entitlements !! It’s just ridiculous and non sense !

      • David

You all have to think about this. Bush knew things were in trouble, but Dodd-Frank and the boys were running ruff-shot through congress saying “All is well”. When congress is controlled by Harry Reid don’t you think that he is going to do what progressive socialists do…Hmmm? Most dems are progressive, socialists, communists, deaf ,dumb, and blind LIARS!!!

      • just sayin

who said newt didn’t know. he said he advised and they failed to follow much of his advice. companies hire advisors all the time including attorneys and accountants and do not always follow their advice, don’t be foolish.

      • Patricia Kelley

Joyce, you are delusional. Before you spread your venomous lies about Gingrich and his relationship to Fannie and Freddie, check out the facts. Do not write without knowing all of the facts. As it is, you embarrassed yourself with your ignorance.

    • T-Texas

My own personal thought but I am starting to like Perry a little more than the others.Reason being Perry is a God fearing man even though I think he is wrong his immigration policy.

      • http://thpatriots.blogspot.com/ Anne

T-Texas: I AM convinced that Perry is the one to get us out of the mess we’re in, but I’m curious as to what “immigration policy” you’re talking about.

You would think they would know better than to vote for Romney or Gingrich, but who knows the results in both Iowa and New Hampshire have surprised me.

The only candidate that wants to restore America to one of limited government is Ron Paul. Give us back our Constitutional Republic, one of liberty and freedom

There isn’t another candidate running that even comes close.

I live in South Carolina and I am definitely voting for Ron Paul. After years of frustration with the main line candidates, I got suspicious as to why the media on both the left and the right either marginalize Ron Paul or make fun of him. I went to his website, watched him speak on You Tube videos, etc. I realized why they hate him. He would cut off the politicians’ gravy train with his cuts. He’s the only candidate who has proposed real cuts. He’s the only one who actually reveres the constitution. The media and those afraid of him are lying through their teeth about his foreign policy, statements he made, and his position on drug use in America. Dr. Paul was an air force surgeon and served 5 years in the military. He gets more donations to his campaign than all of the other candidates combined. And he’ pro-life! He believes that the states should have power to decide on the things that directly affect them instead of the federal government. To get the truth, you have to go his website http://www.ronpaul2102.com. Gingrich scares me with his membership in the Council on Foreign Relations. The CFR is a globalist think tank that seems hell bent on the U.S. and all other countries being under the control of the UN.

      • http://thpatriots.blogspot.com/ Anne

Diva: Paul scares a LOT OF PEOPLE with his cockamamie foreign policy.

        • William

Anne, in hopes of helping you better understand Ron Paul’s views on foreign policy, I would like to mention that America’s prosperity has been on a steady decline ever since we abandoned America’s original position of non-interference in the first part of the 20th century.

We’ve all heard the stories of the immigrants who came to this country throughout the 1800′s , leaving behind everything that they owned for a chance to live in the land of Freedom and Opportunity. America today is not the America of yesteryear. While it is certainly far better than many others, I fear we have lost our way. Our freedoms are vanishing at an alarming rate, our economy is on the verge of collapse. Surely if we continue along the path we are currently following, all that made us the land of “dreams” will be lost.

Please allow me to take you back to America at the end of the 19th Century and reveal to you that a foreign policy of non-interference may be our best hope of restoring this nation for all of us and securing those blessings to generations yet to be born.

I have posted below a speech given by then Rep. politician Carl Schurz. If you take time to read it, it is my hope that your views maybe enlightened. Thank you for your time and consideration.

          “The True Americanism”

What is the rule of honor to be observed by a power so strongly and so advantageously situated as this Republic is? Of course I do not expect it meekly to pocket real insults if they should be offered to it. But, surely, it should not, as our boyish jingoes wish it to do, swagger about among the nations of the world, with a chip on its shoulder, shaking its fist in everybody’s face. Of course, it should not tamely submit to real encroachments upon its rights. But, surely, it should not, whenever its own notions of right or interest collide with the notions of others, fall into hysterics and act as if it really feared for its own security and its very independence. As a true gentleman, conscious of his strength and his dignity, it should be slow to take offense. In its dealings with other nations it should have scrupulous regard, not only for their rights, but also for their self-respect. With all its latent resources for war, it should be the great peace power of the world. It should never forget what a proud privilege and what an inestimable blessing it is not to need and not to have big armies or navies to support. It should seek to influence mankind, not by heavy artillery, but by good example and wise counsel. It should see its highest glory, not in battles won, but in wars prevented. It should be so invariably just and fair, so trustworthy, so good tempered, so conciliatory, that other nations would instinctively turn to it as their mutual friend and the natural adjuster of their differences, thus making it the greatest preserver of the world’s peace. This is not a mere idealistic fancy. It is the natural position of this great republic among the nations of the earth. It is its noblest vocation, and it will be a glorious day for the United States when the good sense and the self-respect of the American people see in this their “manifest destiny.” It all rests upon peace. Is not this peace with honor? There has, of late, been much loose speech about “Americanism.” Is not this good Americanism? It is surely today the Americanism of those who love their country most. And I fervently hope that it will be and ever remain the Americanism of our children and our children’s children.

          — Carl Schurz, Wikisource-logo.svg “The True Americanism”, address delivered in New York City at a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce of the State of New York, January 2, 1896.

I don’t understand why Ron Paul’s foreign policy would scare *anyone*. Ron Paul’s got the only sane foreign policy among the candidates! It’s the current isolationist foreign policy that should scare you. We are currently over in the middle east pissing people off and making enemies by killing civilians (and nuclear scientists), isolating ourselves from the rest of the world instead of openly trading with everyone so that it’s not in their economic interests to cause issues with us. That’s what you should be afraid of!
Most experts agree that it was our government’s foreign policy that caused 9/11, and now we’re fast approaching another event like that based on the damage we’re doing over there now.

How many nuclear scientists and american citizens we can assassinate before we start seeing attacks over here again?

      Dr.Ron Paul 2012 for the ONLY PROVEN HONEST(for Well Over 30 Years)running for President,PERIOD !!!

      • Dood

All the more reason Dr. Paul cannot be the nominee. If he is truly always honest, then his foreign policy will get us all killed!

Obama stated that America is not a Christian nation and the slanderous things that are being said about Rick Perry and the insults he suffered for having a prayer group in Houston would seem to prove Obama right. Will we ever have a Christian elected President again?

  • Maxine

That is right Romny is a rino if he gets in we will hav another 4 years of Obummer look at his record and see all the bad things dont listen to the news or fox listen to the judge he is so right

Pick: NONE / The both are liberal establishment republicans. One of them was born into the Congress and did nothing for American people, except he was taking as wage the federal money for living ! All his family was infiltrating into “big money politics” !
The other one , was born a liberal republican from a father RINO and all his life was living on Wall Street and Bain Crooking Afairs. Now, the both want to become the President, for making more extra money from Federal Reserve ! Vote Newt or Rick ‘s, all of them real Conservatives !

Are you certain that they meet the Definition of a Conservative?

After having listened to each of them, I can only think of 2 candidates that meet the criteria of the Definition above.

  • JackK

Romney is just like Obama for the most part. He passed a state law healthcare in Mass. , that is not a conservative or constitutional goal. Not much will change with him. We need a change, someone who does not lean the progressive, socialist, way. We need one is more into the constitution and only will follow it.

    Newt – 2012

  • Ann Wilson Kingsley

Newt Gingrich is a Neo-Conservative Globalist New World Order Progressive whose life-style is a disgrace. Presidents of our country influence the moral character of the American people, as well as citizens of other countries. We need to elect a president who is a good example. Endorsing or voting for Gingrich is utter hypocrisy. It is no wonder people are gravitating away from our churches when faith-based people are willing to elect a leader who is such a poor example. The people who make this type of endorsement need to consider the type of witnesses they are making for Christ. Most people with Newt’s lack of moral character would not have considered themselves an appropriate example for the American people to follow, but Newt is a Narcissist who has poor ability at self-evaluation.

Ronald Reagan stated the philosophy of our Founding Fathers was Libertarianism. Please endorse Ron Paul for president!

If Ron Paul is honest, then he is incompetent as a manager in my opinion. Here is the fact. Please don’t blather on about NWO, Neo Cons and the like. Just make your determination which one he is and then temper your future comments using common sense rather than Mantra! His views that were written about in HIS newsletters for years with HIS name on them are scary. He claims that he did not know what they were writing for years. To me, that sounds like irresponsible management AT MINIMUM. How can someone who cannot even supervise his OWN newsletters manage international affairs and the US government. So IF he is honest, he is irresponsible and incompetent AT THE LEAST. My belief is that he DID know what was in his newsletters for YEARS and did supervise what went in there. THAT would make him patently dishonest by claiming that he did not know. What would the average person think if they were not a PaulBot or a cult member? My guess would be the latter but the former is possible. Which do you believe, since you claim he is the ONLY honest one? Is he irresponsible and incompetent or dishonest?

      • Bob in Boston

Ron Paul was managing a very successful medical practice while the company he put together was publishing those newsletters, and some bad material, obviously not written by him, got through while he wasn’t looking. Sorry, but that just doesn’t sound like that big a deal to me when his whole voting history shows that he’s looking out for regular people, including minorities.

    • just sayin

you don’t think ron paul is a narcissist as well?

    • Patriot Diva

You are exactly right Ann. Gingrich would push us over the cliff, just at a slightly slower speed.

    • Patricia Kelley

I beg your pardon Madame, people are not gravitating away from the church because of people like Gingrich for heavens sake. They are gravitating away from the church because of hypocrites like you that condemn a man who has asked for forgiveness from God. You are a hypocrite because you do not follow the very fundamentals of the teachings of God. Check out Luke 7:47-48, if you have a bible and can understand what Jesus said.

As I was watching the news the other night and reading on the internet all that is going on in our country – appointments being made outside the Constitution, numerous rulings by the courts, requests being made to raise the debt ceiling again – I nearly felt a feeling of helplessness and frustration try to come upon me. It was like “if our elected officials will not do anything to stop this, what are we supposed to do about it or is there even anything we can do?” The elections seem so far away and what damage might be done until then!

Then this feeling arose inside of me that said “You know what, Enough is Enough! It is time for God’s Warriors, His Church, the Body of Christ to shake off their slumber and take a stand! Stand together as a unified body, with one voice”. And I mean that literally.

We need to have our own grassroots National Day of Prayer. This is what I would like to propose: On Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 1:00 pm Central Standard time, I would like each one of us to come before the Lord, at the exact same time, in unity. First (with a resounding voice) to praise and bless His Name, proclaim His Awesomeness, to honor His Faithfulness, to thank Him for His Grace, His Mercy and for all He has done for each one of us, our families and for our Nation. And then, standing in agreement and unified, cry out to God – ask for His Divine intervention on behalf of our Nation and each of her citizens and for protection against anything that might cause lasting damage to our Nation!

“Again I tell you, if two of you on earth agree about whatever they may ask, it will come to pass and be done for them by My Father in Heaven” (Matthew 18:19). “For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment” (Luke 1:37). No matter how difficult or impossible the situation may seem, God can always bring change and restoration!

It is time for this “sleeping giant” (the Church) to arise. If you will stand in agreement with me on January 19th (1:00 pm. CST), please copy and re-post this everywhere you can. E-mail it to friends. Lets get people all across our Nation, at one specific time, who will stand together in Spiritual unity and pray with a mighty voice!!

Then we will watch as the miraculous takes place!!!

    • GladysMP

Rick Perry gathered just such a group here in Houston before he even decided to run for President and he got vilified but good by the Press. Gays gathered across the street from the group gathering. But 30,000 people came and enjoyed the Christian fellowship. Let us hope that Obama is wrong when he says that America is not a Christian nation. The way Perry is being slandered in posts on the net makes it look like Obama is correct in his statement, but your suggestion, just like the group that Perry organized is a great idea. Prayer changes things.

  • Bett

Paul is right on in Economics and even his personal stocks are doing well and you call him incompetent! He is Constitutional and the only way we will get our country back! NDAA is signed as Obama threatened Congress to do and could they have stood against him, he said will do it w/or w/o them, DICTATOR! Next Amend. 2 gun rights which Paul is ONLY supporter. He will not deny his oath to protect the Constitution or America and will revoke all unconstitutional removing our sovereignty: AGENDA 21 that our gov’t sold us out to the New World Order. google it and see if your city is also on the list. It didn’t get there by accident. We have been set up and time to get back to the constitution and no more lies to get the vote should be considered. Truth and integrity, Paul is the right one for what we need to do, regroup our economy, support our troops and bring home to work on our own borders and get all branches under Constitutional authority and rule.

I just got back from the taping of tonights Huckabee show in SC. Folks from the audience asked individual candidates specific questions. Each candidate got 12 minutes and 12 questions. Without a doubt Perry was the most engaging, positive, and well prepared candidate there. He should be. He’s been running a state for 12 years. That’s 3 terms. You have to ask why has he been re-elected each time he’s run. Because the people of TX are happy, they’re employed, their taxes have been decreased, they have a balanced budget, employers are hiring, folks are moving there. He has been the most consistant candidate all of his political life. He is a man of faith who loves and has served this country. Some have been turned off by his position on immigration. I can’t see how he could have handled it any differently. The Feds weren’t helping TX, they had no choice but to educate them. I think he did the right thing, by making those folks productive and not a drain on others and now they are documented as well. Oh, by the way – Ron Paul was the only candidate who refused to participate in the Huckabee show. According to his brochure he’s out to transform America (where have we heard that before). He has been in Congress 12 terms and in that whole time has only had one bill passed. What is the facination? He says he will only take a presidential salary of $39K. Wonder why he isn’t doing that now. Paul has a list of what he’s going to do as long as your arm, but no detail. From the ads he’s a good physician and that’s what he should stick to.

    • Bob in Boston

Ummm. Alice, you realize that Ron Paul doesn’t take a congressional salary and doesn’t participate in their golden parachute retirement plan, right? He doesn’t participate in their medical plan either. :-)
He also gives back most of his administrative budget too – $100k last year and $140k this year.
Oh, and look at the text of the actual bills he introduced in the house. If you read them, you would assume they would be passed unanimously, but the rest of Congress didn’t seem to agree somehow because they would restore the constitution and our current crop of politicians (and the other candidates for President) don’t like that.

  • GladysMP

Obama said that America is not a Christian nation. The language that is being used to slander the Christian Rick Perry would go a long way to proving Obama to be correct. I, too. am a Christian and I hope to get to vote for Rick Perry. I am also a Southerner and hope to see the South prove to favor the Christian candidate and prove Obama wrong.
