Mitt Romney and charges of Medicare fraud

Winning Our Future, a Super PAC supporting Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, has released another attack on rival Mitt Romney’s business practices. A one-minute “trailer” and a 30-second TV ad (see below) that amplify the themes of corporate malfeasance accompany the nearly eight-minute video, “Blood Money.” (The title refers to the fact that a company once partly owned by Bain Capital, Romney’s firm, was found guilty of charging Medicare for unnecessary blood tests.)

We were highly critical of Winning Our Future’s “King of Bain” film, awarding it Four Pinocchios, in part because it focused on business failures in which Romney was only tangentially involved. And anyone living in Massachusetts would find this Medicare fraud case to be old news because the case first emerged in 1992 as an issue in Romney’s successful race for governor.

Still, this time Winning Our Future gets closer to the mark. The case concerning Damon Clinical Laboratories is relevant because 1) Romney was a director of the firm while the fraud took place; 2) the fraud appears to have ended only after Bain sold the firm; 3) Romney earned nearly $500,000 from the sale of Damon; and 4) Romney’s statements about what he knew and when he knew it have been inconsistent.

Newt Gingrich, Herman Cain, and Bill Clinton are all in the same category with John Edwards.
If anyone wants to make a damaging video, these are the ones who need to be looked at with a very truthful ad, and not
a prejudiced report like this one. Will Mitt Romney try to ruin these men further than they have already ruined themselves
    and those around them?

    Probably not.

But it would make very interesting videos, for sure.

actually Romney HAS done it, and tried to deny knowledge of it at a debate. it was put out by HIS campaign, not a PAC, etc. it was about the "ethics" violation that DIDN'T happen. Newt wasn't "fined" he paid for the cost of the investigation, and there is NO group claiming it happened, it was POSSIBLE to have happened and he was cleared by the IRS of all groups!!!! yes he lost his speaker ship, and yes he divorced his sick wife to marry someone else. We don't know the whole circumstances on the marriage/divorce angle, or probably on the speaker angle either. one thing for Newt, they ran on the contract for America, won on it and got 9 out of 10 items done. while i didn't agree with 100% of his actions, i don't think they disqualify him for President. Heck President Clinton was IMPEACHED but didn't have the honor to acknowledge it.

The Washington Post is a liberal rag and it "awards" it's "Pinocchios" selectively.
I am telling you….folks…..The liberals WANT Romney because he's a copy of Obama.
They fear Newt and will do ANYTHING to make him irrelevant.
Reading the last paragraph above should convince you that there is more going on at the Washington Post than meets the eye.

I agree and have been trying to tell folks for months – the Left want to run against Romney – all of them cohesively say that from every soundbite they can get off any channel – "Oh, Romney is who we fear" – yeah, right! Romney is a copy of Obama with having raised taxes (ok he calls them fees 88 times in 4 yrs),& romneycare.
I support NEWT – I see the news against Newt bring up old past, but out of context – this is intentional to get people off the idea of Newt – the left knows Obama cannot debate Newt. The old elitist have spent 16M on Romney w/ 88 different ads against Newt – now would they fight so hard if Obama could easily beat Newt????

    Return of Rockefeller
“I have ways of making money that you know nothing of.” John D. Rockefeller
“The best slave is the slave who thinks he is free.” John D. Rockefeller
“Competition is sin.” John D. Rockefeller
John D. Rockefeller was a "republican" like Willard Mitt Romney, a republican out of touch with what the elite-establishment republicans like to call "lunch pail republicans," and "soccer moms." To people so out of touch with "main street USA" the public is an obstacle that only requires lolly-pops and pole-tested oratory of patriotism to control. In this GOP nominee process, you have Willard Mitt Romney who is a Rockefeller republican, supported by Ann Coulter, Chris Christie, and Nancy Polosi, or you have Newt Gingrich whom "did" balance the budget, "did" help put us "lunch-pail" republicans back to work, and "Is" a man of action with a track record of "major" policy reform. So the choice for we members of the GOP is between the Rockefeller and the lunch-pail candidate. Since Newt is the "only" leader to have actually achieved "conservative" policy as compared to Romney whom achieved "socialized" health care. Romney is the candidate that, "has ways of making money that you know nothing of," as Rockefeller boasted. Newt has offered the American people an opportunity to keep your money out of the hands of people like Polosi and Romney.

The Mormon Church teaches heretically that man can become a God, and that God was once a man. Joseph Smith taught, "First God himself who sits enthroned in yonder heavens, is a man like unto one of yourselves, that is the great secret…. I am going to tell you how God came to be God. We have imagined that God was God from all eternity…. God himself; the Father of us all dwelt on an earth the same as Jesus Christ himself did,… You have got to learn how to be Gods yourselves;…No man can learn you more than what I have told you." This teaching is one of the root evils of Mormonism. Think about it- isn't this very idea, that man can work his way up to being a God, a major tenant of humanism and new age belief? Think about it again- where is the first place in the Bible that one finds the idea of a man becoming like God? It was whispered by the serpent to Eve; saying eat of the apple and "…ye shall be as gods…"(Genesis 3:5) This was not whispered as a good thing, but as an enticement by the father of lies himself! The Bible does not teach about a changing God who once was a man, once died, and once sinned. It does not teach that a man can become a God. It teaches exactly the opposite.

Is the conservativebyte.com an extension of the Newt 2012 campaign? Everything it puts out slams Mitt Romney. Newt has no morals (extramarital affairs), was removed as speaker of the house, took 1.6 million from Freddie Mac (when the housing market was being run into the ground), he loves FDR and Woodrow Wilson (founder of the American progressive movement), he thinks that government is the answer to all of our problems. At least Mitt Romney knows how to run a company. He would definitely be to the right of Newt in governing and I honestly think he has the best chance to beat Obama. Cut him some slack conservitivebyte.com!!! If Newt becomes the nominee I will NOT vote for him. This from a staunch Reagan conservative!!

We will not hear Romney say anymore about Obama than "he's in over his head." The man is as soft as a creampuff!
If it's Romney as Republican candidate when these primaries are over, the Democrats are ready to clobber him with their usual brutal weapons. Romney's response will be a wet noodle.
If the ejection of Obama is most important to a voter and I hope it is, then the most electable will be the survivor of the Republican primary campaigns. Romney stands the best chance. That's about it. Exciting, isn't it?

  • No fool

    He's just another obama

Where does the GOP get these candidates, anyway? It's another running case of the good old boys (and girls) choosing our prez for us. Where are the quality people these days?

  • GregF

Barack Hussein Obama should dump Biden. Mitt Romney would be the perfect VP for Obama. Besides there isn't any difference in them. Obama and Romney are both big government, big spending Hitler era Socialists. They are both LIARS. I won't vote for Mitt Romney the PIG!
