Gallup Editor: Romney Lead ‘Collapsing’

Gallup’s top editor told MSNBC this morning that former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s lead in the polls is “collapsing” across the nation, citing polling numbers that have changed dramatically over the last few days.

Frank Newport, Gallup’s editor in chief, appeared on the MSNBC’s “Jansing & Co.” to share the results of Gallup’s national tracking poll. The gap between Romney and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is quickly closing, according to that poll.

“We’ll see this gap closing more,” said Newport. “Romney was up 23 points over Newt Gingrich. Now it will be down about 10 points. So clearly, things are collapsing.”

Gingrich is just a much a crook as Romney, both carry a Globalist agenda!

    • Concerned Citizen

At least Gingrich has the experience to run this country better than Romney. When Romney was Gov. of Mass. he supported abortion and same-sex marriage. He surrendered his state over to Britian. He has a shakey foundation. I think Gingrich is far better and he was mentored by Ronald Reagan. Of course he’s not perfect, but no one is. But, he’s getting endorsed by great people like Chuck Norris and Michael Reagan. He’s getting endorsed by my company and my website. See website: http://www.haasstrep68.com

      • Howard

You get Gingrich and you will get another insider from the Council on Foreign Relations. He’s so phony his breath stinks. Wise up and quit spouting the party line CC.

They are all crooks but what do you do. He has to be better than Obama

    • Rodger in WA

Define crook and please include a little tangible proof for that statement.

    • Edward Hunt

I agree. Both are liberals. It is a sad state for the Republican Party. Again they force us to vote for the least of two evils. Neither can beat Obama. If Obama wins he will finish the destruction of our country. Even if we win both houses he has the power to appoint Supreme Court Judges. If one more liberal judge is appointed to the bench, “Kiss it Goodbye for a free Republic!!

    • Frank

Romney is a self proclaimed “moderate” Republican (read: liberal). Gingrich has a checkered past. Romney supports big government. Gingrich at times shrunk government & helped balance the budget, but at other times flip-flopped supporting more big government.

My #1 is still the only small government, Constitutionalist who wants to balance the budget in 3 years: Ron Paul. But if he doesn’t get the nomination, I’ll go 3rd Party rather than vote for Romney if he is the nominee. If it’s Gingrich, he might be acceptable.

      • jim

Well if supporting some one who seem to recently emigrated from outer space, I’m sure he’s glad he has your support.

        • The Traditionalist

Is that your assessment of anyone who is a real conservative, a strict constitutionalist, opposes big government, high taxes, taxpayer funded bailouts for wall street banksters, and does not belong to the CFR/Trilateralist new world order type? What planet are you from?

    • kimmy

I’m sure you are Obuma’s guy because libtards. were uninformed, see too much msnbc propaganda & lies. People with low IQ do not know even a basic common senses, nobody surprise why Obumer got elected because these kind of uninforms voters.

      • jacy

Kimmy: Sad to say, but I agree. I cannot believe some of the things liberals say in defense of Obama and liberalism – yes, they are uninformed as to what a Republic is; what the Constitution says and means and have no idea of the total effects of Marxism/socialism. Many of the fools who voted for Obama voted because he was black – maybe to prove they were not racist – the other set of fools voted because they believed Obama, in his Hope and Change, meant more government support – welfare and entitlements not realizing that at some point other people’s money soon runs out. The third set of fools listen to the MSM who daily denigrated Bush and called him a liar until these fools believed that Change meant simply getting rid of Bush.

Bush was not perfect – but he loved this country and was not hell bent to destroy it – like Obama whose associates are a terrorist, Bill Ayers, George Soros (who turned against his own people, the Jews, and sold them out to the Nazi’s – or didn’t join an anti=American group in 1988 as Obams did! Uninformed fools!

    • John Hand

‘Both carry a globalist agenda.’ By your negative, derogatory comment, I can only assume that are either one of those radical and getting tiring Paul supporters, or you…(GASP!) support Obama.

In Bermuda, Romney served as president and sole shareholder for four years of Sankaty High Yield Asset Investors Ltd. It funneled money into Bain Capital’s Sankaty family of hedge funds, which invest in bonds and other debt issued by corporations, as well as bank loans.

Like thousands of similar financial entities, Sankaty maintains no office or staff in Bermuda. Its only presence consists of a nameplate at a lawyer’s office in downtown Hamilton, capital of the British island territory.

“It’s just a mail drop, essentially,” said Marc B. Wolpow, who worked with Romney for nine years at Bain Capital and who set up Sankaty Ltd. in October 1997 without ever visiting Bermuda. “There’s no one doing any work down there other than lawyers.”
Today, Bain Capital manages $60 billion in assets, according to a spokesman. The total includes $23 billion in Sankaty debt and credit funds. Half a dozen Sankaty affiliates now are active in Bermuda, corporate registry records show.

The Sankaty debt hedge funds are organized as partnerships in Delaware that produce taxable business income by investing in fixed-income bonds and other debt instruments. Under tax law, even tax-exempt U.S. institutions may face a 35% tax if they invest directly in such hedge funds. By investing instead through a Bermuda corporation, the taxes are legally blocked, experts say.

Now copy and paste this for all of you that are for Romney and see if you change your mind about him. I mean it copy and paste it and everyone will see he could hid alot of the United States money and no one would know it. He has lawyers working for him and they hide his money.

      • Mary

Of course all of this is perfectly legal.

So nobody gets into trouble for any of this.

By keeping money offshore, even those managing these kinds of funds can avoid being taxed.

Victor Fleischer, a tax professor at the University of Colorado Law School, recently explained how this works….

“The idea behind some of the Cayman Island strategies was that the income that the fund managers receive for managing the money would be kept offshore in the Cayman Island — and the chief benefit is that you can defer when you recognize that income until a later date and you can reinvest the money from the Cayman islands and none of those reinvested funds get taxed until you bring them back either”

        So was Romney doing this?

We may never know unless he shows us his tax returns.

What we do know is that Romney has millions of dollars of his own personal wealth invested in offshore tax havens.

The following comes from ABC News….

In addition to paying the lower tax rate on his investment income, Romney has as much as $8 million invested in at least 12 funds listed on a Cayman Islands registry. Another investment, which Romney reports as being worth between $5 million and $25 million, shows up on securities records as having been domiciled in the Caymans.

But Romney does not just have money invested down in the Cayman Islands. Apparently his money is invested in a whole host of offshore tax havens.

The following quote comes from a Reuters article….

Bain funds in which Romney is invested are scattered from Delaware to the Cayman Islands and Bermuda, Ireland and Hong Kong, according to a Reuters analysis of securities filings.

So is there anything wrong with this?

Well, it depends on how you define “wrong”.

What Romney is doing is perfectly legal.

But it also stinks. Washington lawyer Jack Blum recently told ABC News the following about Romney’s finances….

“His personal finances are a poster child of what’s wrong with the American tax system”

So now we may have a few hints as to why Romney may not want to release his old tax returns.

But as noted above, what Romney is doing is just small potatoes compared to what the ultra-wealthy do.

The U.S. Congress has been trying to clamp down on offshore banking, but the ultra-wealthy are always two or three steps ahead of them.

The ultra-wealthy will go to just about any extreme in order to avoid paying taxes.

In fact, the Washington Post has reported that an increasing number of wealthy individuals are actually deciding to renounce their citizenship rather than face the wrath of the IRS.

The ultra-wealthy aren’t really concerned that much with national citizenship anyway. If they want to influence an election, they can have far more influence by donating a few million bucks to a “Super PAC” than they can by casting the few votes that they have.

In a previous article, I described how the ultra-wealthy use offshore banks as a “shadow banking system” that plays by rules that most people don’t even know exist….

It is a shadow banking system that most Americans don’t know anything about. Most Americans don’t have the resources to be able to set up shell companies in half a dozen different countries so that they can “filter” their profits. Most Americans don’t know a thing about complicated tax avoidance plans that tax lawyers use such as the “Double Irish” and the “Dutch Sandwich”. Most Americans would have no idea how to eventually have most of the money that they make end up in Bermuda so that it can avoid taxes.

Most among the global elite simply do not care that U.S. debt is climbing into the stratosphere. All they care about is keeping as much of their own money in their pockets as they possibly can.

Of course there are always exceptions to this rule. Warren Buffett recently wrote a check to the U.S. Treasury for a little more than $49,000 to help pay off the national debt.

But considering the fact that the U.S. national debt is increasing by more than 100 million dollars an hour, that didn’t exactly do much to help.

Our system is deeply broken and the global elite are getting away with bloody murder. Over the decades, they have carefully crafted the rules so that as much wealth as possible is funneled into their pockets, and they have carefully crafted the rules so that as much wealth as possible stays in their pockets.

Of course if we got rid of the personal income tax and the corporate income tax entirely and replaced them with a completely new system we could get rid of all of this game playing once and for all.

But what do you think the odds are of that happening?

        • http://ghlcom.com Layne

Only stupid people would keep their money in the USA right now. Any investor with more than 20,000 dollars is doing similar things to protect their money from the oppression of our tax and spend government. That is called wisdom.

Are you saying we shouldn’t vote for Romney because he is wise?

Come on people! Get over the jealousy. Get someone like Romney in the presidency who can change the rules so that business can come back to the USA.

Most wealthy Americans are hoping that the government will wake up one day and become friendly to business, so they can bring all that foreign money back home and create more jobs, and help the country grow.

These tax problems that cause investors to shift their money outside of the US is what Romney would love to change.

That change would be great for all Americans!

          Come on! Wake up people!

      • John Hand

Mary Mary Mary….no one really cares if Romney makes money, heck, they all do. I personally think Romney is hiding his tax returns for ANOTHER REASON. Can you figure out what that is? I think it might be so that no one can see how much he donates to the Mormon Church.

Mitt needs to learn to say, “Invested capital is taxed at 15% because it is money that has been taxed already, it is at risk, you can lose it as many did in October 2008, and the economy needs it so have a low tax on it makes sense many ways.

Mitt is toooooo nice to battle Team Obama and the teleprompter. When Mitt speaks, he lacks the passion and fire in his belly needed to battle with Obama. The American people want a fighter who calls Obama what he is….Communist, anti-American, liar, fraud, Muslim, and so on. When a candidate takes the fight to Obama, that candidate gets noticed and their popularity rises…like Newt. America needs the meanest dog in this fight against Obama…not a well grommed poodle.

    • Rodger in WA

Romney is too slick. He seldom answers a direct question he doesn’t like. First sidesteps, changes the subject and then speechifies.

      • R.Cook

Whoever wins the Republican nomination had better take a lesson from McCain’s failure last time. Mr. nice guy will not stand a chance against the machine Obummer is putting together. They are already digging for any dirt they can find on every potential Republican candidate. What we need is a trench fighter, a Pitt Bull or a pissed off grizzly unchained and running free. The Democrat’s campaign is going to be the dirtiest most corrupt campaign in history. We need a street fighter to rip their Socialist ideology to shreds and bury it in a deep dark grave where it belongs.

Everything about Obummer’s history, eligibility, past associations and current record must be on the table for investigation and use during the election campaign. If he is to be defeated it has to be a no holds barred down and dirty battle. If we are to win; we need to get the dirt, vet it for accuracy then bury them with it

None of these folks can beat Obumer. The party is now too fractured to wage an effective battle. A house divided cannot stand! Four more years of Obumer and we are doomed. What to do, you ask? I wish I knew the answer to that myself. Good thing I’m an old man and won’t have to live through the horrible things Obumer will put on this country. Unless the citizens of this country are willing to protect themselves by ANY means necessary, there is no hope.

Whoever votes or supports Newt for President is out of their mind; you can believe in redemption, as I do, but you are not thinking seriously if you support a person for President with the baggage Newt is carrying. What an example for our chidren and future generations when we dismiss character as the foundation for leadership. Character, Judgement and Humility for are the top of my list for a Presidential candid. Newt fails in each case. It is pitiful; he doesn’t have enough sense to not run! And we make light of other countries who have stupid leaders. The country deserves far better…

    • N.N.

Sorry but Jesus is Not Running.

    • Clara

Dear Louis Kramp and anyone else who reads these comments: if you’re convinced that Newt has too much baggage, I suggest you watch a DVD I recently bought called the Founding of America (I found mine at Costco). It’s a 5-disc package and is loaded with information about the character of our Founding Fathers. There’s not one of them that was lily white; every single one was flawed in some way because they were, after all, human beings. But, they were geniuses when it came to the task at hand; plus, every one of them was a staunch Christian and proud of it. They were highly educated, extremely talented men who, aside from their personal proclivities, had the best interests of their new country at heart. They strove with every fiber of their beings to find the ways and means to bring about her independence. They put everything they had on the line, even their very lives… because now England regarded them as traitors and candidates for the firing squad. They created a form of government that was unheard of in the annuals of history up to that time. They had to start from scratch; and, led by their faith in God, they not only found the path, they cleared it for all who have come after them. They created a govenment run by the people…not the aristocracy. Unheard of!!!!

We are now at such a crossroad. We have among us the Evil One who has come to destroy us (the Bible says he would do it in 3 years…and it’s been 3 years, right?). He started with the banking system and brought it to its knees; moved on to the largest and most well-known corporations in this country and made them nothing more than puppets to his command; now he has blocked every effort on the part of business to put people back to work, think Keystone Pipline: 20,000+ jobs lost (and when you figure for every job lost there were an indeterminant number of people in industries supportive of those 20,000 jobs, it could number over a million people without work); now he’s attacked the coal industry which will not only put thousands more out of work (refer to my previous statement) but escalate the price we pay for heat and air conditioning and power (and without jobs, how do we do that?); our court system is being eroded with judges who either twist the law or ignore it altogether; education is on the line with Sharia Law and Islam being introduced into the classrooms at the 7th grade level (make sure you know what is being taught in your child’s school) (as Hitler told Germany, “Give me your children and I will control the country within 10 years.” Of course, with the help of thousands of machine guns, he did it in half that time); the ACLU has been striving for decades to eliminate God from every aspect of our lives to unbelieveable detriment to us and our heirs (hence our Freedom of Religion). And by the way, just as the government has no right to REQUIRE us to worship in a particular way, it also has no right to PREVENT us from worshipping in a particular way (two sides of the same coin); we are being disarmed, the first step to tyranny, that’s why we were guaranteed the Right to Bear Arms…to make sure no one could prevent us from protecting ourselves; we have been put in harm’s way by the new law that John McCain co-authored recently that allows the military to cart us off in the middle of the night to unknown locations for indeterminant periods of time. And the list goes on.

If you don’t think we are already in the middle of a war, think again. We are being attacked on all sides. Therefore, I state boldly, if we are to survive as a people and as a culture, we need a fighter…I mean a street-smart, down-and-dirty, in-your-face, no- holds-barred street fighter. I believe Newt is that man.

I saw the video of his reply to John King’s question, and I agreed with him. Who gives a rat’s ass what he and his wife may or may not have discussed in the privacy of their home 20 years ago? I could not care less. All I’m interested in is…how hard will he fight for this country? Will he have the guts to put everything on the line to drive this imposter from our midst? Will he use every tool in the arsenal to clear out the garbage and restore us to a semblance of sanity and unity so badly needed today? I believe he will.

The important thing to remember at this juncture is: he’s an American, born and raised, who loves this country. He knows his way around Washington. He authored the Contract for America which made the Democrats so angry, they nearly tarred and feathered him because it took away most of their power. It matters not a whit that he “has baggage”; that’s a relative term. There has never been, nor will there ever be a candidate for public office who does not have “baggage”. Paying attention to that sort of thing is like trying to drive your car by looking in the rearview mirror…who does that, for Heaven’s sake?

If you judge a man’s love of country by how well he walks on water, then we’re lost and should be applying for our new passports to the country of our choice. But…if we’re really interested in saving our nation so that our beautiful grandchildren will be able to achieve their highest goals, we need to back Newt Gingrich with all our might; and pray, yes, I said PRAY to God for His divine assistance.

God said that any nation that turns its back on Him will be destroyed, but if that nation turns to Him again, He will come to their aid and save their country. I’m not by any stretch of the imagination a street corner fanatic, but I am smart enough and old enough to have seen what happens to people when they turn aside for their God and their responsibilities.

Believe me…it’s no accident that we have the saying, “What goes around comes around.” It’s an unavoidable law of nature, and we ignore it to our destruction!!!

Therefore, I suggest two things each one of us can do immediately: 1. Work as hard as you can to get Obama out of office, whatever it takes; and 2. Pray as hard as you can for God’s intervention; because if we don’t, this will be the last chance we will ever have in our lifetimes or the lifetimes of our children to reclaim our country…and I’m not exaggerating.

      God be with you all.

Romney is not a conservative, he is however, a democrat “colabarator”! He agrees with most of the left wing, democrat agenda and is reluctant to oppose them on many of the most cruical issues of today, including “Obamacare”. If elected, he will endorse it. However he won’t be. If he selected to run against Obama he will “cave in like a house of cards”. He has no stomach for the hard fight from Obama that is on the way. Gingrich is mean! For us, that is a good thing. He will fight Obama to a standstill and defeat him on every issue. Gingrich may not be the “perfect candidate”, but he is the best we have for this election. Too many people are like the fellow who goes to check in a n look around at,” Honest Bob’s Used Car Sales Lot”, honest Bob and his staff are professionally trained on how to con him and are aware of all the latest manipulations to land themselves a sweetheart of a deal, regardless of whether the car being sold is on it’s last legs or not!

That is what is happening to the public when they listen to the talking heads of the bought and paid for Lame Stream Media presstitutes!
They simply use mind control to get the public to throw their vote down the black hole of giving up their Constitutional Rights, Freedom and Liberty!

Of all the campaign promises I have heard made, Ron Paul seems to have the right idea to turn this country around and save it. I have heard numerous plans stated but very few explained. But when Ron Paul stated that he believed we should get out of the UN and stop Foreign Aid, I felt he was the man for the job. What has the UN or Foreign Aid done but cast a bigger burden on American taxpayers while giving money to countries that hate our guts? Then when he said he would eliminate 5 cabinet departments that have proven to be worthless drags on our economical system, I started to listen to the man. Since then I have completely changed my mind from the other choice I had decided on to pay closer attention to Ron Paul. His ideas are everything this country needs to put it back on track to once again be the power we once were. I believe anyone that is truly concerned about the path our country is headed should at least listen to this man and his ideas. They show far more sense than trying to appease some who are more concerned about same-sex marriage and abortions because why worry about these things when we no longer have a COUNTRY to worry about?

I agree with a lot of Ron’s ideas, now tell me how he would manage to get Both houses of Congress to go along with him, when, in 23 years in the House, he couldn’t get any of his ideas passed, even in the House, let alone signed into law.
For weeks I’ve been asking for examples of leadership accomplishments from Ron Paul. Since none of you has offered a single example (other than the claim that his voting record is good), I looked up his record.
      112th congress – introduced 47 bills – none passed
111th congress – introduced 61 bills – one passed to convey a parcel of land to Galveston Hist. Foundation.
      110th congress – introduced 70 bills – none passed
109th congress – introduced 71 bills – one passed to commend NASA on a Shuttle Mission.
WOW, What a record of leadership, 249 bills introduced and two (2) passed. Did you see how historic they were?
Is that the kind of leadership we can expect if he gets to the White House?
