Cannibals in GOP Establishment Employ Tactics of the Left

by Sarah Palin

We have witnessed something very disturbing this week. The Republican establishment which fought Ronald Reagan in the 1970s and which continues to fight the grassroots Tea Party movement today has adopted the tactics of the left in using the media and the politics of personal destruction to attack an opponent.

We will look back on this week and realize that something changed. I have given numerous interviews wherein I espoused the benefits of thorough vetting during aggressive contested primary elections, but this week’s tactics aren’t what I meant. Those who claim allegiance to Ronald Reagan’s 11th Commandment should stop and think about where we are today. Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater, the fathers of the modern conservative movement, would be ashamed of us in this primary. Let me make clear that I have no problem with the routine rough and tumble of a heated campaign. As I said at the first Tea Party convention two years ago, I am in favor of contested primaries and healthy, pointed debate. They help focus candidates and the electorate. I have fought in tough and heated contested primaries myself. But what we have seen in Florida this week is beyond the pale. It was unprecedented in GOP primaries. I’ve seen it before – heck, I lived it before – but not in a GOP primary race.

I am sadly too familiar with these tactics because they were used against the GOP ticket in 2008. The left seeks to single someone out and destroy his or her record and reputation and family using the media as a channel to dump handpicked and half-baked campaign opposition research on the public. The difference in 2008 was that I was largely unknown to the American public, so they had no way of differentiating between the lies and the truth. All of it came at them at once as “facts” about me. But Newt Gingrich is known to us – both the good and the bad.

Our real enemy is the ones that circumvent the Constitution in order to get their agenda implemented. If Rommey's father ws born in Mexico that puts him in the same category as Obama. Not constitutionally eligible to be president. The same goes for Rubio also.

Tou sound like the libtards and flea-baggers. Can't sate a logical opinion so you fall back on vulgarity and prepubescent name calling. Grow up, or at least learn a little common decency.

If American and Republican voters want to lose this election to the Obamacommies 2012, keep focusing on President Reagan. As admirable as President Reagan was, he is history and we cannot win an election by focing on the past. Many American voters ages 18-42 are not even aware of who Ronald Reagan was and if we want to win an election 2012, the GOP, the candidates [ultimately nominee], the Tea Party, the conservatives, and the talking heads on radio and TV who nobody should listen to anyway, all should be crafting plans, policy and rhetoric to reach voters age 18-80. This dwelling on the past is a pathetic attempt to identify with a great president…forget about it and identify with our current issues and speak to our time.

    • stillmoral

If you don't study the past, you will be foolish enough to not learn from it and use what is good from it. You will also not know how this country has been systematically destroyed by the Democrats/Communists. You should study up on RR. He was a true patriot and true Conservative.

      • patriotrenegade

he was surrounded by globalist sob's and didn't know it. now his idiotstick kid supports a CFR for prez. wow. Oh raygun thought knewtbird was an ass.

    • independantlyMinded

Those who don't study the past are doomed to repeat it. Wish we were as Raegan was the greatest president of this century.

  • MartinRidens

"Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater, the fathers of the modern conservative movement, would be ashamed of us in this primary."

The ideal of Goldwater and Reagan was to simply get government out of the way. How we do that should be the biggest question being debated but, alas, it is not. Ron Paul would kick the pants off anybody in that debate. Maybe we should be asking that question ourselves.

  • GregF

If Mitt Romney is the nominated GOP candidate I won't be voting Republican anymore.

    GO NEWT GINGRICH!

    • Vern

I don't care if they pick Brer-Rabbit to run against Obama, I will vote for the rabbit, and you had better wake up to your comment or we will have 4 more of the "O" nightmare.

    • patriotrenegade

    Dear Conservative Byte Readers:

You may recall that during John McCain’s concession speech, there arose cries of ‘traitor’ [and worst] at the mention of President Obama. John McCain had the presence of mind to quell the crowd’s ire. ‘PLEASE friends’ and ‘friends – PLEASE’ he said repeatedly. John McCain knew that this crowd was coming dangerously close to losing control.

John McCain knew that he himself was apt to be labeled a traitor for siding with the legitimacy of President Obama’s election. Had more voices picked up the theme and the crowd become rowdy, the paramilitaries would have stepped into action. In that case, we’d have seen far more than internal revolt within the Republican Party. In that situation, John McCain showed honor even if he did act in wise desperation. What has this to do with Sarah Palin?

On the same platform stood Ms. Palin. She heard the same outrage and the cries for President Obama’s head. But Ms. Palin was totally oblivious to the disaster that was unfolding at her feet. She smiled and smiled like the Cheshire cat. Ms. Palin felt the adrenaline rush. She lusted for more.

For Ms. Palin of all people to pen an article pinning these behaviors on others — regardless of where they are on the political spectrum — is the very height of hypocrisy.

Had Ms. Palin the slightest shred of self-respect whatsoever, she would leave public life and make better of herself than she mistakenly thinks she has for the United States. In the UK, Ms. Palin would have no option to do otherwise. She wouldn’t be elected as a shop steward. That she does have that option in the US evidences a deliberate policy of concentrating all power in the hands of those least capable of wielding it. Why? Weak personalities are easily manipulated.

That may explain more candidates than Sarah Palin.

    Proud Socialist

    • independantlyMinded

You? Who eschew our Constitution and way of life here in the US while you enjoy the freedoms of our country should not talk about hypocrisy. McCain was and is a rino and he was the top on the ticket and took the lead on that as everyone expected. Should she have pushed him out of the way and dealt with it herself? You think she should have retired from politics because McCain sold us out to the liberal left and Obamination? Or maybe just because she is a woman?

  • ed france

Dear Ms. Palin, I think it is a big mistake to endorse anyone until there is a known republican winner. Your voice in the party is now going to be diminished if Romney wins. I hope you take this in the nicest way. I want to elect the person with the most experience and the most success in the area of responsibility. Right now, the economy and the future financial health of our country is literally at stake. Who has that experience and who has achieved the most success in the the private sector? I hope you will really look at that before you make an all out committment to anyone. Thanks for listening

    • independantlyMinded

Get real! Most of the establishment GOP, who have been trying to push Romney down our throats from the beginning of this primary, would never listen to her anyway. She is just a wife and mother and should stay home baking according to them. She espouses the libetires and rights of the people and common sense. Thye won't listen to anyone who does that. It would upset the staus quo and all their diryt little deals.

  • Rachelrao

Here goes – get attention at all and any cost SARAH PALIN. Why not just take a seat and watch and when the time comes and you want to support the nominee or don't. Why interject yourself into everything?? You were a person I greatly admired and thought you would go far, but you fell a dollar short for the fame and fortune instead of being the woman who not just cracked but got through the glass ceiling. Your support of Chritine and Angle cost us the Senate. You tried to take away Romney's big announcement day with your twardy bus tour, and now using Todd you are interjecting yourself and talking of VETTING? No this is not vetting. This is GIVING 4 more years to BHO because YOU want to be King Maker……….. I am very very disappointed in you – you were my hero, but knocked the rose colored glasses right off my face. STOP interferring. Let the process take place. IF YOU LOVE YOUR COUNTRY, allow events to unfold with a TRUE CHRISTIAN mind and belief.

    • independantlyMinded

Sour grapes! You believe you have a right to voice your opinion and you do. Why shouldn't she have a right to voice hers? Just because more people will pay attention to her opinion than yours you defame her. The liberal democrats don't believer everybody should have the same rights they do. How are you any different?

  • wpb83481pt

Mitt Romney is a part of the ESTABLISHMENT GOP. The out siders need to break down that wall around Romney. The news media also needs to learn a lesson on how to report the news correctly using th 5 " W's " of news reporting. These are as folows; WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHO AND THE LAST WHY. I learned that in Journalism class in High School. Has this changed or are the news media so left wing oreiented that they can't see the forrest for the TREES? Time to wake up news media. John Q. Public is watching and will enloghten you when 2012 election time comes.

    • patriotrenegade

have you made it to college yet? Mitt never worked in DC, is clean on globalist treason, never took a salary as gov, his health plan cost the taxpayers zero. knewtie boy supports amnesty. What do you say to that?

      • independantlyMinded

You need to check your facts. Romney has nearly bankrupted Mass. with Romneycare and the state of the medical care system there is horrible. Talk to somebody from Mass. before you start spouting the Romney party line as facts. You sound just like all the negative Newt ads that they have been spouting. Spewing trash without any factual basis.

  • Ann Wilson Kingsley

The Tea Party is Establishment Republicans, otherwise they would not be backing Newt. Sarah is also an Estabishment
Republican because she endorsed Newt.. Newt is not a constitutionalist as Sarah claimed. Right now the presidential contest is a race between 2 RINO New World Order Globalist Republicans who are both as establishment as anyone could ever be. The RINOs are trying to make us believe we are being given a choice. The one candidate in the race who is really a constitutionalist and is not an Establishment Republican is Ron Paul. LIbertarianism, the philosophy of our Founding Fathers is Ron Paul's philosophy and policy. If Sarah and the Tea Party want to be George Washington conservatives, they will endorse Ron Paul. George was not an Establishment Republican..

    • independantlyMinded

The Tea Party is NOT establishment Republicans, much the opposite. The Tea Party is made up of regular tax paying citizens of which I am one. The basic belief is in the Constitution and individual rights and freedoms and honest political representation, of which we get very little from the GOP establishment. That is why the GOP establishment hate us so much. Maybe even more than the liberal left.N

Romney is a Democrat and will tell you whatever you want to hear. Vote for anyone but Romney.
