Romney on gun laws: Yes, er, no

As governor of Massachuetts in 2002, Mitt Romney made a clear declaration of support for the state’s restrictions on firearms, prompting some critics to doubt his present advocacy for the Second Amendment in his run for the Republican Party presidential nomination.

“We do have tough gun laws in Massachusetts. I support them; I won’t chip away at them,” he said as governor. “I believe they help protect us and provide for our safety.”
