Cybercommand chief opposes U.N. net control

The commander of the U.S. Cyber Command said Thursday that he does not favor giving the United Nations the power to regulate the Internet.

Some regulations are needed to protect critical networks that control electrical power, banking, transportation and other key elements of society, Army Gen. Keith Alexander, who is also director of the National Security Agency, said after a speech to a security conference.

But asked whether the U.N. should have a regulation role, Gen. Alexander said: “No. I’m not for regulating, per se. I’m concerned about it, and this is a tough question. I would say, generally speaking, I’m not into that portion of regulating as you would espouse.”

    I read the whole article. I am thankful that a General Grade Officer has spoken out against it. As the “Head Cheese” for the NSA I hope Congress listens to him and not the UN. Here is an excerpt from the article. Now why would are former Cold War enemy Russia, China that hits us with Cyber Attacks, and two other nations in Customs Union Agreements with Russia propose such an idea? Think very hard about Mr. Putin of Russia, a former KGB Agent, wanting to regulate the internet:

    Last month, Russia, China, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan submitted a resolution to the U.N. General Assembly calling for giving individual states the right to control the Internet. The resolution, submitted Sept. 14, calls for “an international code of conduct for information security.”

    It requests “international deliberations within the United Nations framework on such an international code, with the aim of achieving the earliest possible consensus on international norms and rules guiding the behavior of states in the information space.”

    China tightly controls the Internet through a cybersecurity police force estimated to be more than 10,000 people who monitor Internet users and websites.

    Russia’s authoritarian government has taken steps in recent years to curb Internet freedoms. Uzbekistan and Tajikistan also are authoritarian regimes that seek to control Internet use

          Oh, you are SO right about the “licensing.” Why do “free” people need “permission” from the government to exercise their RIGHTS, (the ones we have left AND the ones they have already tried to steal from us). We are now legally, NOT LAWFULLY, required to have a “license” to get married, to drive, to work (SS#), to go to school, (registration), to vote, and the list goes on and on. The definition of a license is “permission (from the government) to do something that is considered to be illegal, immoral, or otherwise not accepted, (by the government, of course”). We should NOT have to have ANY of these licenses. We have the right to travel w/o a license. Does having a license make people safe drivers? Of course not. Drunks with “licenses” kill people every day. Should we have to have a license to work? Of course not. How ’bout to build our own house? NO. They try to con us into believing that these RIGHTS are so called “PRIVILEGES.” Who do they think THEY are to grant us, whom THEY work for, “privileges?” Isn’t it normally the employER who grants privileges to the employEE and not the other way around? Yes, but the thing is, they *THINK* that THEY are the employER and WE are the employEE’s. Somebody needs to clue them in to what the Constitution says about how “We the people” CREATED the government, (THEIR JOBS). They did NOT CREATE us or OUR JOBS! The thing that is CREATED is NEVER GREATER THAN that which did the CREATING. Otherwise, WE would be greater than God and that is NOT possible!             Extremely well said!!!! Especially the part about upside down and backwards. When satan stole Adam’s authority and dominion, love became hate, etc., etc. Except, now we have the authority back through Jesus Christ and it’s up to us, through our faith in him and God to exercise our dominion. We still have to do the work, but the ultimate battle has already been fought and won in our behalf. That was also an outstanding comment about that which has been created can never be bigger than its creator. Actually, God is the only being that can truly create. Even the atheists and evolutionists haven’t figured out how to start life from the beginning. Whatever we do here on earth has to use elements that God put here first. Man can ponder, clone, explore science and come up with endless religious traditions, but man will always have to use matter or depend on emotions that God created. Artists don’t create, they fashion using natural or man-made materials, writers of sitcoms and dramas don’t create, they rely on the emotions and perceptions of their audience for success. No doubt about it, this is God’s universe and His Kingdom is ever-expanding. When you go against his people, you go against him.

That the created entity is not greater than the creator is a primary reason the individual states should never be trumped by the federal government, state governments originally creating and organizing the federal government more or less as a central meeting place to assemble, discuss and vote on various issues. That the feds now want to lord it over all the states is ridiculous, kinda like the kid telling the parent what to do.           While I agree with your first sentence, the reference to CB confuses me. Citizens Band WAS licensed until the early 80′s when the FCC said that anyone who wants to use the band can, no license. The FCC has also not done much to regulate the use of amplifiers or even foul language as long as the violations are not egregious. Agree with the statement about licensing, just don’t understand the comparison.

            Are we giving them power over our internet…or the ability to contorl this country in any manner… No! And what has it gotten us…..resentment and hatred.

            I continuously post about the North American Union and the One World Government. There is little comment, but people better wise up.. Our country is being taken apart, if you haven’t noticed. We no longer manufacture the things we need, as American companies are moved out of country. Our rights to grow crops and raise cattle are under attack. The goal is to make Americans unable to feed themselves. Our enemies are buying up our weaspons manufacturing companies. Our water rights are in jeopardy. Our medicines are no longer manufactured in this country. Are we to sit by and let this regime take away everything that we need to survive. All the while we sit and blog about who to vote for in the next elections (the election that won’t happen!)

            The UN is made up of a group of third world countries, and human rights abusers. Most people haven’t heard of a lot of these countries. Many are poor African countries that have a GDP less than what we have thrown away on vacations for obama, in one year. And, I doubt there are any Mensa Candidates ruling these countries…more like highschool dropouts on steroids…

            Many Americans refuse to admit what is happending. Oh, they understand the economy isn’t good, and they know we need a better candidate to run as nominee…but it doesn’t go much further than that. It is the “head in sand,” attitude and some will still have, even as their families are starving in the streets. How does one have sympathy for a nation that passively accepts its demise…

      The head fof our NSA made a wise decision in not favoring giving more authority to the U.N. His reasons were sound – though incomplete. Anytime people of a nation who govern themselves – such as our Constitutional Republic is, so far – gives up even a little bit of their sovereignty their freedom is the very next thing to go. I am 81 years young. In my 53 years service to our country, I have seen several free – relatively speaking – nations lose their freedom to varying types of dictatorship. I pray to God I don’ t see it happen to my countrry.

          Speaking of the UN.My apartment and many of the apartments in the Spartanburg area here in S.C. are going to Substainable Developement or as the company calls it going green. Our electricy and water is to be monitored seperate from the apartment rent. This is part of Agenda 21. I hope this hasn’t come to you town or city. The UN has more control in the US than most citizens realize.

I served 2 years int the Waves during the Korean War ( i refuse to call it a conflict) and never regretted that time… God Bless America.

        We may not even have time to vote the RINOs out because Obama will find an excuse to declare marshal law well before the elections. He is getting ready to start WWIII. One way or another, his plan is to suspend elections indefinitely. NC Governor Beverly Purdue floated that idea for him recently, and it was no joke. We need to push for congressional hearings on his (in)eligibility. That is the only way. Even impeachment will not work: there’s not enough time and Democrats would not allow it. However, Republicans in the House can start the hearings without Democrats’ approval, and Obama could not defend himself because all evidence against him is irrefutable. He could be out in couple weeks. Unfortunately, our Congress is completely useless.

    But there are some troubling factors all coming together right now that could conceivably trigger a real usage of the EAS system in the not too distant future. A European financial collapse could bring down U.S. markets. What is now the “Occupy” movement could lead to widespread civil unrest. And there are ominous signs that radical groups such as Anonymous will attempt something major on November 5th- Guy Fawke’s day.
    Now we know in the event of a major crisis, the American people will be told with one voice, at the same time, about an emergency.

      Here’s something that happened recently that still worries me. One day a couple of weeks ago I simply could not access the Internet. I finally phoned my ISP and was told that “they” were doing work on the Internet lines in CA, WA, ID, AZ, & OR and my ISP had no idea when the work would be completed. I asked who “they” would be. I was told to phone my land line company and ask them. I did so and the phone company had no idea what I was talking about. The representative dialed all the source phone numbers provided to me by my ISP and every one was not working . . . About 12 hours later everything was working again but I still don’t know who or what entity was messing with my INternet and phone lines . . . . This has an Obama smell to it.

      I agree that we should put into the Executive Office a man of the caliber of Dr. Ron Paul, however, there seems to be quite a scarcity of ethical, moral individuals in Washington right about now. So, in addition to voting in Ron Paul, we need to change most all of the Democrats and Republicans who currently hold office in the Congress with folks that will stand up for this country and not for themselves.

      What we really need in our government is statesmen, not politicians. Be very careful when you vote, as who you put into office can either save this Republic or send it down the tubes in the next four years, that is, IF we make it to election time…….

        Perry now saying he wants to defund the UN compared to Ron Paul’s 30+ years of saying it, and the fact that Ron Paul wrote a bill to do just that 14 years ago, just shows the political expediency of Perry. Was he saying the same thing back in ’88 when he chaired Algore’s campaign? I don’t think so.
        If America is going to be restored to her former glory we need someone who has never flip-flopped, never conceded, never changed his position. Granted, Paul became a Libertarian for a brief while but that was only after he felt betrayed by the Republican Party. How many of us here have also felt betrayed by the Repubs? I dare say quite a few. We got sloppy and elected RINOs and now we are paying the price.
        Ron Paul is the only principled candidate running for the seat of the presidency. And he is strongly opposed to illegal aliens being given entitlements. He even wrote a bill clarifying the 14th Amendment that would do away with the anchor baby problem. Perry wants to give them free education.

Why even China does not want the United States in control of the Internet that was invented here, and is creating their own Internet for censorship, just like the United Nations aught to be doing.

      Don Boyer, it is for the very reasons you described that I would want the 15th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution amended to read; “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged; ‘provided they test positive in the knowledge of American history, the U.S. Constitution and its Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence.’

      The above recommendation for the amendment shouldn’t be too difficult if taught to children beginning in elementary, grammar, high schools, all through college.

      The 26th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution should be repealed with the exception of eighteen year olds who are serving on active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States.

      Don Boyer, you are absolutely correct that there are indeed way too many uneducated idiots in this country that shouldn’t be permitted to vote. These idiots are the ones that believes in entitlements at the American taxpayer’s expense. They are better known as America’s parasites.

I can’t believe that Obama has yet to prove his eligibility to even be President to everyone’s satisfaction. We are letting America slip through our fingers. God help us all if we allow the UN the power to control the internet. If we do, they will censor the people and they will do it, all the while claiming they are doing it for ‘our’ own good. BS. Nothing the big guys do is done for the good of the people. They have one goal in mind and that is for a one world Government. It breaks my heart to think that America might not survive because the people can’t seem to get their heads of the sand long enough to look around and recognize the direction in which we are headed.     I am very proud of Army Gen. Keith Alexander for standing up for this nation against this multinational attempt to control our flow of data and information between our sovereign citizens.

    Any attempt to suppress or control freedom of the press, freedom of speech, and freedom of association by anyone needs to be nipped in the bud. NSA has a very important role in securing our national information infrastructure from foreign aggression. Sometimes we may not all understand why certain actions are taken, but, we may not necessarily all have the intel that NSA has to weigh our judgements upon.

Countries like Cuba, dodo bird African states, China and various other hangers-on got to put their two cents in – and believe me, that’s all their input was worth; perhaps even less.
    Go back to the break up of Yugoslavia and the months and months of agony as the U.N. stood by and watched people get slaughtered whole sale as it issued one empty warning after the other and timelines expired one after the other until it all became a running joke. Mean while, any country that wanted to do something to put an end to the murder was stopped by those idiots. Worse yet we had to listen to the fools at the U.N. pontificate on matters of whatever. They started pressuring all the banks to lower their standards for loans to the point that all you had to do was attend a credit management and counseling class! You didn’t even have to be employed! Then they went about to steal 6 trillion in our retirements when the bubble burst because you had millions of people who had no business buying a house going tits up on the loans, half of which were illegal aliens with no intention of paying them in the first place, in $400,000 homes!
    We don’t even belong to the U.N. legally! A couple of Senators voted for the rest by proxy during Christmas vacation when nobody was there! Look up Rockefellers and Jekyl Island. The U.N. is a bunch of Gun Running, Food Stealing Miscreants that should be tried for crimes against Humanity. It even states in their Charter that the Secretary General (the big cheese) HAS to be a Communist! That should say it all!

    Our federal parks are already being run under u.n. mandate and havebeen for several years. That was either done by billy boy or bushy boy. That is another reason that makes me get that fishy smell about washington d.c. (the rat hole) It just doesn’t bode good for our country when congress sits on their hands and realy doesn’t do any thing to straighten out the mess that the gov. and our country is in. I just read a email taht warren buffet said that just about every thing wrong with our gov and our economy could be fixed if there was a law passed that no congressman could be reelected if the debt and the economy wasn’t fixed and kept in order. Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest was to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform … in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn’t seem logical. We do not have elite that is above the law.
    I truly don’t care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop.
    The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971…before computers, before e-mail, before cell phones, etc.
    Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land…all because of public pressure.
    I’m asking each addressee to forward this Email to a minimum of twenty people on their Address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

      Carpenter, if Ron Paul were in the White House, I suspect you would see changes (for the better) like America has not seen in years. Congresses power would be restored for starters . . . the Czars would be dismissed immediately. And it is the people that should be controlling Congress and the Senate through their votes. It is up to each of us on a local level to contact our Congresspersons and advise them on our views. I think Ron Paul would have a HUGE impact in our fight to reclaim our Nation. Rather than listening to the Media, go directly to Dr. Paul’s website(s) and listen to him speak firsthand, without all of the media’s contortions of his ‘real’ message to us. Anyone that values their freedom and loves America should at least take the time to listen to Dr. Paul before dismissing him based on the media’s input. The President carries more weight than you think.

    Congressman Ron Paul’s balanced budget should be adopted by every campaign. It is brilliant. He has laid out just how we can balance the budget. He will eliminate agencies that provide no real value to Americans only special interests, end foreign aid, repeal reams of regulations, cut military spending by brings troops home to America, reduce the federal workforce, and freeze mandatory spending. Paul’s cuts would amount to $1 trillion in immediate savings. The Federal budget would be completely balanced in three years.

This time people we will need a law that cannot be interpreted any other way but TREASON, and a Congress that will do the job they swore to under oath ,so that these self proclaimed GODS can not get away with what they have now accomplished.     I see a lot of good comments, a few ignorant (don’t have the facts), and as usual some who just want to verbally masterbate and get involved in ,”one-on-one” unrelated issues. I see a least problems with the UN wanting to control the internet. First, there are now some factions , “out there” whose sole objective is to take over and control the world; the UN, Muslims and the New World Order Group(s?) and perhaps even China. Any country getting control of the internet would be letting one of “those ‘camels’ get its nose into the democracy tent” which would ultimately open the doors to having UN troops or other outside agencies on our soil, enforcing their laws, just like the Muslims, with their Isalm, is now attempting to do. The President should be directing our Secretary of State and UN Ambassador to openly, at the UN, strive for all countries to become and remain independent and controlled from the ground up, by the people—Let there always be a Liechtenstein and a China, etc. History has proven over and over again, perhaps with the exception of Japan, Taiwan, and some European countries, after WW-II, that we can not just walk in an change forms of goverment. It takes a lot of time and patience, for all none-democratic and republic forms of government to sort out what is good and bad, and we cannot do that for them. Present monarchies, tyrants and other controlloing groups mihgt not be so defensive, knowing that our suggested democratic change may take several years.

    One of our high school student where i work was working on her Senior project and needed a mentor. I agreed and she gave me the ‘contract’ to sign that her teacher had given her in the senior project package. The first line read: ‘ The mentor will be a Global Community Member’.     The American Birth control league was founded in 1932 By Margaret Sanger and I wish to discuss her book “Plan For Peace”. Back then, in her book, she calls for coercive sterilization, mandatory segregation, and rehabilitative concentration camps for all dysgenic stocks including Blacks Hispanics, American Indian and Catholics. Does anything sound familiar concerning this today as you see the present camps being built throughout the United States?
    Well I could go on and on writing to enlighten you of why various detainment camps are being built now, educational systems have been taken over already, why we are overseas at this moment and many other detrimental situations presently being enacted but unless you consider enacting/doing some kind of preventative measures now and fast it will be too late.
