Army dad who promised his sons a treehouse before deploying to Iraq is ordered to tear it down

After paying a total of $3,200 in building permit fees and construction costs for a treehouse for his two sons, officials told a father the house must come down due to its placement in their front yard.

Mark Grapin, a U.S. Army Aviation Specialist from Virginia, says the project was a promise to his two boys, aged nine and 11, before he made his last deployment to Iraq.
‘I built the treehouse as a kept promise to my boys,’ Mark Grapin told MyFoxDC.
