Warning: Harvard says Fourth of July parades could turn your kids Republican

Democratic political candidates can skip this weekend’s July 4th parades. A new Harvard University study finds that July 4th parades energize only Republicans, turn kids into Republicans, and help to boost the GOP turnout of adults on Election Day.

“Fourth of July celebrations in the United States shape the nation’s political landscape by forming beliefs and increasing participation, primarily in favor of the Republican Party,” said the report from Harvard.

“The political right has been more successful in appropriating American patriotism and its symbols during the 20th century. Survey evidence also confirms that Republicans consider themselves more patriotic than Democrats. According to this interpretation, there is a political congruence between the patriotism promoted on Fourth of July and the values associated with the Republican party. Fourth of July celebrations in Republican dominated counties may thus be more politically biased events that socialize children into Republicans,” write Harvard Kennedy School Assistant Professor David Yanagizawa-Drott and Bocconi University Assistant Professor Andreas Madestam.

    So, what is wrong with this? When I was growing up with the parades, I loved them because of the parade, not the political party. If that makes me more prone to be Republican or conservative, than so be it. It is a shame that democrats must be so caught up in turning our country into Europe that they cannot appreciate the love we have for the good ole USA. Maybe if patriotism would catch on in the democratic party we wouldn’t have all the “changes” coming at us they want to make. I love America. It is the best country in the world, and the only time I would ever possibly be ashamed of our country is when people apologize to other countries for us being AMERICA. As for Harvard, maybe, it would help if you would go back to your roots.

For many years I called myself one, but, now I’m just a Roman-Catholic American and I will vote only for the man or (woman) that will (hopefully) support us true Americans once again. I was so happy when JFK became president, but, later, when I found out that he was a scum-bum and not worthy to be in office and along with Clinton(s), I knew that I had to quit believing the “news” media. It took me a few “years” to wake up, but I’m afraid that with all the pollution that is being taught to our kids: no respect for the flag or the pledge of allegiance; homo-sexuality; “sex-education”; birth-control; abortion; okay to lie, steal to get ahead; parents are not to believed or trusted, etc. this country and our God-given rights and freedoms will be taken away from us. +JMJ+

    It is a great idea to make them bigger and better every year. I wish people would continue to display the Flag like after 9/11. Several in my neighborhood still do. For Memorial Day and the Fourth of July, my home is decorated inside and out for these holidays. The inside is decorated from Memorial Day until Labor Day. For the Fourth Of July, we have the outside done in one large Flag, with 50 smaller flags around the driveway and walkway. One for each State in the Union. We all wear a lot of red, white and blue patriotic tee shirts this time of year. So many of my neighbors decorate their doors with patriotic wreaths and bows. Even some of the cars have decorations on the hoods. We are PROUD AMERICANS! Let’s show the world we are an exceptional nation. I am all for a parade in each neighborhood across America.

    It takes a college educated liberal socialist to realize that attending Independence Day parades will encourage youth to become patriotic, and thus maybe support Republicans’ values. Does it take a genius to figure out celebrating Independence Day is a patriotic act remembering the moral and ethical values of our Christian forefathers? Isn’t it obvious that anyone opposed to our freedoms of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness would be offended by a national holiday celebrating the birth of such a nation? Liberals are suddenly scared of the sacred history of the United States of America that they are even attacking the patriotism surrounding Independence Day festivities like parades and fireworks. Can we tell little Johnny that some bad men don’t want him going to see our flag pass by held by a veteran, big school bands playing a little Chicago, floats covered with symbols of freedom and lastly going to see some amazing fireworks? Can we tell little Johnny some big bad men don’t think he should go see the Boston Pops playing the 1812 Overture while cannons and fireworks explode on the banks of the River Charles because… it is TOO patriotic?     I wouldn’t let my kid go to Harvard if he got a four-year, fully paid scholarship. It is rife with liberal, left-wing, marxists extremists who are indoctrinating the youth. And, college kids think they have been “blessed” with being so much smarter than any other generation, coupled with their newfound “freedom” of other opinions than the ones they may have been raised with, they are vulnerable to these treasonous thugs in liberal universities and colleges.

    What the progressive, Harvard intelligencia fails to remember is that the 4th of July is actually “Independence Day”, a day we ALL celebrate our independence from England. I guess Harvard teaches their own brand of revisionist History, where the founding fathers never existed and Independence Day never happened. I do, however, find their take on the 4th to be perfectly acceptable and with the “boosting of the GOP adult turnout on Election Day”, hopefully in November, 2012 we can throw off the tyranny and have our NEW Independence Day.

    So, if I understand the findings of the study correctly, only Republicans are supportive of the United States, only Republicans are Patriotic, and only Republicans support our men and women of our Armed Forces. Therefore, Democrats hate the United States, are unpatriotic, and DO NOT support our men and women in the Armed Forces. In reading this “report” by this Harvard professor (is there any other school in the world that is more “liberal”), one would assume that the professor is “warning” to keep children away lest they become patriotic Republicans – OH GOD! NOT THAT! It has come to a point that anything out of any of these “Ivy League” schools is anti-American, anti-Capitalism, and anti-Military. This, ladies and gentlemen, is perfect evidence that the education our “students” are receiving at said schools is purely “Liberal Socialism.” And we wonder why Washington D.C. is the way it is…just saying.

    The entire world knows that the 4th of July means The Day The Americans as a Nation declared their (all citizens of the United States of America) Independence from England and that every citizen was in one accord and indeed they all sang out aloud ~God bless America! One Nation Under God! There was no discrimination nor fear that any child might become a GOP member ~ Lincoln was not yet born and there was no Republican Party nor was there a Democrat Party. However, there was a Wig Party. Harvard University ought to be ashamed of its graduates, it should quickly closes its doors before more shameful things visit its front door! This country can’t afford more useless and mindless graduates from Harvard that whose goal is to seek the ruins of this Mighty Country! This Mighty Nation is loved by every Republican, as well as some Democrats, people of other political parties and all the independents are included, we all love Our Country ~ except for the Harvard graduates who are Democrats. Any Harvard graduates who happens to have a brain might be insulted, hopefully who might decided to do something about it.     Charles Stanley (a nationally known pastor, for those who are patriotic, but not church goers)said, “Get down on your knees and pray, then stand up and get involved.” If you are serious about turning our country around, do both. “Getting involved” can be done in many ways: 1.) Join the Tea Party; 2. Support it with showing up at their functions so our politicians will be aware of their magnitude. Strenght of numbers will alert the politians of the potential of their being voted out of office; 3. Send money–it does require money to get the message out and thus win elections. If you can only send $5.00, don’t let that stop you from donating. 4. Give your time. Volunteer to help. 5. VOTE — and get your friends and relatives to do so! 6. Run for office, particularly the school board. Fight back on the curriculum being taught to our children.

    I’m off to travel 400 miles from my “home” in Lousy-ana to a part of this great land where the FOURTH OF JULY means what it is suppose to: celebrating the freedom our people have. I don’t understand liberals being so against the hand that feeds them. But, I guess they are just not smart enough. Harvard and others Ivy League schools, at some point, turned into Hilter Youth Camps. Do those people really come out with a better education? Or do they just think they do? I can’t wait to partake of a parade, and picnics etc in a town and county that respects our flag, our country, our sacrifices and our God, and isn’t ashamed to wear the red white and blue and shout God Bless America. After all, what else do we have to celebrate?       I agree completely. July 4 is the day we should ALL be proud to be Americans. This is one day where politics and ideologies should be set aside and we celebrate the independence we have to think as we choose, and to disagree about those thoughts.

      The problem is that those on the far left (and to a great degree, those on the far right,) can’t accept any divergence of thought from their own stances, and to do so will be the fall of the world. The major difference between the two, however, is that the far left tends to be far more controlling, far more violent, and far more militant. Just like the Stalinist/Leninist cowards they model their behavior after.

      Perhaps if we all stand in solidarity against the intellectual terrorism these people tend to foster, against conservatives, moderates, and even those who are center-left that they deem not “liberal” enough (don’t laugh, I’ve seen it happen working in education,) then we can completely discredit these buffoons.

    Check Harvard’s history. They brought a Carl Marx professor over from Germany
    to teach, he later taught at Columbia or New York university before moving on to
    Berkerly or one of the University of California campuses and thus spread the
    socialism to most of the Colleges in our great country.
    The 4th of July celebration started in 1777, there was no Republicans at that time.
