What’s happening as the congress raises the debt ceiling explained in a very easy to understand and short video. Congress will consider rasing the debt ceiling on our borrowing streak for the 78th time in less than a hundred years and as the debt goes up so does the interest on the debt. No one in their right mind would do this, but Congress does because it’s not their personal money or debt and it allows them to continue to spend and remain in power.

      It would be a much better primer if the fictional scenario used were in any way equivalent to the actual situation. Gated community in Florida? Going into debt for pool and pool table? Hardly a reality-based comparison.

        I think it fits rather well. The gated community is the group in DC who constantly manages to get more and more pork for their favorite projects–the EPA, FDA, AFT, DEPT of Trans., DEPT of ED, and a bunch more. Their frivolous regulations dumped on the American people are the pool table, etc. Maybe I just have an active imagination, but I can certainly see it.

          The gated community = The Beltway and those fat bureaucraps taking and taking our tax $$$ for their favorite earmarks. I sure hope in 2012 all of those fat career politicians are kicked out so they can get a real job. I saw a schedule of work for the Congress for the week and it looks like they only work Tuesday through Thursday with morning coffee before they go to work. What is with that? For the money and perks they receive from We the People they need to work until the work is done then pay their own way home and hold town hall meetings to see what their constitutents are asking from them!!

        It is not necessary to create fictional situations in order to explain the problem of debt limits. Let’s use an actual scenario which, with minor differences, is played out hundreds of times a day in real life.
        Joe Smith bought a house a few years back at a price which was far beyond his means, an act made possible by politicians demonstrating their limitless “compassion” for poor Joe. “Joe deserves to have his own house just as much as someone who can afford one under the financial regulations as they exist today. So, we will change the requirements for a one third down payment to a 10% down payment. No! Make that a zero down payment. With a family of four and an annual income of $25,000, Joe might not be able to scratch together even $5,000 for a down payment.”

        Then the politicians decided to put pressure on the lending institutions to provide these loans under the new rules. After all, Barney Frank’s personal playground, Fannie Mae, can always pick up the defaulted loans.

        Now we come to the similarity between the individual with unmanageable debt and the federal government with the same problem. Just as the Feds want to raise the official debt limit so they can continue spending money they don’t have, Joe wants his credit card companies to do the same – raise the limits on his credit cards. Now , even though Joe has more income than when he bought his house, he refuses to economize on unnecessary expenses. To relieve the stress, he feels he needs to visit the casino three times a month, Samantha feels entitled to a new outfit at least six times per year. Joe wants a good steak every day at dinner time and lobster on weekends.

        Now, he is in danger of foreclosure because he will not eliminate unnecessary expenses in order to make his mortgage payment.

        Switch now to Joe’s cousin, Charlie Smith. Charlie fell into the same trap as Joe when he bought his house but he had a few more smarts than to lose it when a little more common sense would prevent such loss.
        He didn’t need to go to the casino at all, let alone three times a month.
        He replaced steak and lobster with hamburger and whitefish. Margaret agreed that one new outfit a year would be sufficient and they both agreed that their four year old car, with care, probably wouldn’t need replacing for two more years.

        Switch now to the Federal Government. A quick analysis of Congress

    I do not expect Obama to submit a Debt Plan because he doesn’t have one. A Debt Plan will cause him to state where cuts will come from, what programs. But more importantly, he has never had to write a Debt Plan. You have to have some knowledge of writing budgets in order to write a proposal. Obama lacks that knowledge. Therefore, do not expect one.

    The other issue is that the White House Speaker wont answer the question?? where is Obama Debt Plan. He has surrounded himself with inept people whom does not understand that talking about a plan is not a plan.

    Hmm, let’s see…….our household budget is out of control…we owe more than we make in 10 years, and in that 10 years we will continue to build up more debt. Our credit cards are all maxed out and the monthly interest is much more than the monthly payments totaled up, which is also much more than our monthly income. Hmmmmm….I know!!!! Let’s get a new credit card….then we’ll have a new debt limit and can spend a lot more!!!!!!! Yeh, that’s a great idea!!! No need to cut our spending…..we can just spend more!!!!         Wake up moron. Tax cuts actually create jobs and revenue. If an employer pays less taxes, he is able to hire more people and pay higher wages. This increases the number of people paying taxes and increases tax revenue. There are some businesses that are greedy and hoard the money, this is true, but most businesses don’t. Is it right to punish all businesses for the actions of a few?

      I have had to cut back on spending and no more charging. I lost my retirement in a ponzie scheme, lost my house and now live with my daughter and her family who are barely making ends meet. I only have my SS payment. I can’t work because of going through cancer treatments and severe osteoarthritis in my hip. I have learned to do without. Before all my money ran out I paid off all my charge cards and my car. I use to spend money like there was no tomorrow and I have had to learn to be content with what I have. It is with God’s help that I can do without and be happy.

    Look at his Czars…anti-business..anti-american.

    As Glenn Beck correctly predicted from day one, Barack Hussien Obama is following the plan of Cloward & Piven, two professors at Columbi University .. They outlined a plan to socialize America by overwhelming the system with government spending and entitlement demands. Add up the clues below. Taken individually they’re alarming. Taken as a whole, it is a brilliant, Machiavellian game plan to turn
    the United States into a socialist/Marxist state with a permanent majority that desperately needs government for survival … and can be counted on to always vote for bigger government. Why not?
    They have no responsibility to pay for it.

    Universal health care . The health care bill had very little to do with health care. It had everything to do with unionizing millions of hospital and health care workers, as well as adding 15,000 to 20,000 new IRS agents (who will join government employee unions).
    Obama doesn’t care that giving free health care to 30 million Americans will add trillions to the national debt. What he does care about is that it cements the dependence of those 30 million voters to Democrats and big government .

    Who but a socialist revolutionary would pass this reckless spending bill in the middle of a depression?
    Cap and trade. Like health care legislation having nothing to do with health care, cap and trade has nothing to do with global warming. It has everything to do with redistribution of income, government control of the economy and a criminal payoff to Obama’s biggest contributors.

    Those powerful and wealthy unions and contributors (like GE, which owns NBC, MSNBC and CNBC) can then be counted on to support everything Obama wants. They will kick-back hundreds of millions
    of dollars in contributions to Obama and the Democratic Party to keep them in power.

    The bonus is that all the new taxes on Americans with bigger cars, bigger homes and businesses helps Obama “spread the wealth around.”

    Make Puerto Rico a state. Why? Who’s asking for a 51st state?

    Who’s asking for millions of new welfare recipients and government entitlement addicts in the middle of a depression? Certainly not American taxpayers.

    But this has been Barack Hussien Obama’s plan all along. His goal is to add two new Democrat
    senators, five Democrat congressman and a million loyal Democratic voters who are dependent on big government.

    Legalize 12 million illegal Mexican immigrants. Just giving these 12 million potential new citizens free health care alone could overwhelm the system and bankrupt America . But it adds 12 million reliable new Democrat voters who can be counted on to support big government.

    Add another few trillion dollars in welfare, aid to dependent children, food stamps, free medical, education, tax credits for the poor, and eventually Social Security.

    Stimulus and bailouts. Where did all that money go? It went to Democrat contributors, organizations (ACORN), and unions — including billions of dollars to save or create jobs of government employees across the country. It went to save GM and Chrysler so that their employees could keep paying union dues. It went to AIG so that Goldman Sachs could be bailed out (after giving Obama almost $1 million in
    contributions). A staggering $125 billion went to teachers (thereby protecting their union dues).
    All those public employees will vote loyally Democrat to protect their bloated salaries and pensions that are bankrupting America . The country goes broke, future generations face a bleak future, but Obama, the Democrat Party, government, and the unions grow more powerful.

    The ends justify the means. Raise taxes on small business owners, high-income earners, and job
    creators. Put the entire burden on only the top 20 percent of taxpayers, redistribute the income, punish success, and reward those who did nothing to deserve it (except vote for Obama). Reagan wanted to dramatically cut taxes in order to starve the government. Barack Obama wants to dramatically raise
    taxes to starve his political opposition. With the acts outlined above, Barack Hussien Obama and his regime have created a vast and rapidly expanding constituency of voters dependent on big government; a vast privileged class of public employees who work for big government; and a government dedicated to destroying capitalism and installing themselves as socialist rulers by overwhelming the system.

    Add it up and you’ve got the perfect Marxist scheme — all devised by my Columbia University college classmate Barack Hussien Obama using the Cloward and Piven Plan ..

      And what Obama doesn’t even consider is this simple FACT: when the private sector is totally drained of its economy, who’s going to continue to fund the government’s expenses to MAINTAIN the costs it takes to KEEP everyone dependant on the government?

      The government will run out of money at that point & collapse itself too…And the same will be true if the NWO manages the goal of “one world government.” When EVERYONE is dependant on government, then who’s going to pay the cost to keep the NWO running?

      Yeah, maybe Obama is smart when it comes to REACHING such a goal, but how does he have it figured out to hold onto that goal once it’s reached? I’ve heard a description of what it takes to be a demon (in the religious frame of reference): A demon’s reach must ever exceed its grasp, else what is Hell really for?

      Anyone read the Bible’s Book of Revelations recently? As the old Chinese curse goes, we are indeed living in “interesting times.”

    What is really dumb is running up a debt that you can’t possibly pay back. It’s like maxing out your credit cards and having no income to pay the bills. THAT’S DUMB. REALLY, REALLY DUMB. Money does not pop up out of thin air. At least not for most people. The stinking government, however, is the exception. They just print it which would put the rest of us in jail. They not only have no clue how they are going to pay the bills, they do not care if the bills get paid. (Except for their paychecks of course).

The Democraps answer is to keep borrowing and keep borrowing. That isn’t going to put this country back on an even keel. Pretty soon no one will loan us money and that pretty soon is closer than you think. If the rating services lower our credit rating, a lot of our T-bonds and T-notes will hit the market because a most institutional investors require that all bonds be AAA rated. If they aren’t they can’t be bought and if they are currently held, they would have to be sold. There’s more to it than the Republicans’ insistance that the debt ceiling not be raised and obviously, your fellow Democraps don’t understand that concept. They think endless credit exists. They are either 1) damn stupid or 2)don’t really give a damn about the good old U.S. of A. or 3) all of the above.

As for the “rich getting richer,” how many poor people ever offered you a job? Or are you part of the 50% of Americans who pay not taxes at all while expecting those of us who work to keep paying more and keep on paying for all of the government freebies that the rest of us are “too rich” to partake of and yet kept close to the bone by having to pay for you to have it.     I think it’s been sufficiently explained simply enough that even a politician can understand it…After all, it takes a politician to get lost in pointless, complex minutiae even as the simple core-solution of a problem stands up & screams in their faces. They truly refuse to see the forest for the trees.

    The core truth of the solution IS simple. Government is totally incapable of producing anything…It can only exist & operate when it gets its own income from the private sector economy. In short, government IS a parasite on the nation. Therefore, government needs to stop absorbing private-sector businesses, because they turn it away from the private economy production & change it into a another drain on the economy. In short, Nationalizing a business switches it from the Asset column & puts it into the Debit column.

    Also, by over-regulating the private sector, government only seeks to directly suck more productivity out of the private sector, directly into its own coffers…At the additional expense incurred to hire the enforcers & bureaucrats to keep those regulations enforced. More debit, less asset.

    The key to this really is simple…The GOVERNMENT needs to downsize & cut down everything that does NOT fall into the Constitutionally-defined category of “lawfully-incurred debt.” How many agencies, bureaucracies & enforcers are NOT specifically authorized by Constitutionally Enumerated Powers? About 90% of the size of government today is NOT AUTHORIZED…And Progressive/Liberals want to see even MORE of it!

    The problem really becomes obvious when we keep “hiring” CAREER politicians…They plug themselves into the CAREER that they’ll do anything it takes to keep themselves in a cushy job, sacrificing the nation’s “civil” sector that CREATES that job in the first place…Once the People reach a point where they cannot or WILL not support the government-parasite anymore, the government will fall too. This is a universally-occurring & repeating truth, all through human history.

    The video may explain the situation simply enough for a politician to understand, but is it simple enough to get through the even-thicker skulls of Progressive/Liberals? When people begin to despair they become apathetic and dependent….then we go into bondage…to the government, which then has become a dictatorship. He’s a puppet for those who have laid all the plans for a global government and global banking, but in order to succeed, America has to become a third world country. It’s all coming together for him and if we don’t succeed in ousting him we will never get another chance without wholesale civil war in our country again. I pray every day for our nation that we will begin to see moral, ethical officials elected to turn us around. I am afraid that time is running out.

    Government has done a good job of making it difficult to stop them. Automatic tax deductions sent from your employer. You can’t NOT PAY taxes. They set their own rules and salaries. You have no way to take away their raises and benefits. They set their own resources (taxes) to spend however they see fit to get votes to stay in office. Look at the Stimulus Bill. “Thank you for voting for me, will you do it again?” They write rules to suit their good ole boys. Read your constitution and see what you can do to change any of it. You have to ask them to change the rules so they don’t get so rich. Do you think they will? Ha!

    You are going to have to camp on their doorsteps and make them understand that they are all one term people unless they make changes. Get involved.

      Then there is the other socialist utopia of Canada where health care is also “free” provided one lives long enough to see a doctor. A six month wait for an MRI is not uncommon there. Canadians who have the means usually go to the U.S. for medical cars.

This town is less than 5000 people and in the last 5 years, the city council and citizens have approved a 4 million dollar Law Enforcement Center, 10 million additon to the HS, a 24 million dollar New Hospital, 4 million expansion for the nursing home, 1 million renovation of the court house, the building of 2 field houses at the football field, a horse arena…golf course club house, and downtown expansion of new street lamps…. that they now want to spend an additional 19,000 to put in stronger light bulbs because someone complained it was too dark on main street!!!! And they aren’t finished. Most of the people who voted and are on the board are over 60….. the population of this down is decreasing, an older population with not a whole lot of new people moving here… there is no way that any of these projects will be paid for by the people who approved these projects…. can you guess that sales taxes have increased, property taxes have increased….. wages are low, average income as well. Can anyone in government ever say NO we can’t afford it!!!!!

I just wonder if any of these people goes to bed hungany are wondering , if they will have the money to buy gas for their car. Or to take there kid to the doctor. WE THE PEOPLE.     Asking for more $$ from others is for those who need it not for those who don’t need it, i.e. our Seniors and those who’re truly on disability need it not those who’re capable of getting out and working and those multi-millionaires who quibble over pennies in Washington that serve us and not to mention their spoiled brats who don’t have a clue as to what real life’s all about. If this president thinks about it for a nanosecond he’s about to unleash many out into the streets and there’s already enough homeless out there without his help. I can’t help but to wonder how he can actually be proud of himself or his children can look up to him. But then when you’re convinced you’re a supreme being I guess anything’s possible. I just know that he wouldn’t have survived politics in the 50s and maybe somewhere somehow somebody will tell him what it was like.

    This is a great video. The comments give me pause to wonder about our educational system. I have never seen so many grammar, spelling and punctuation errors all grouped together before. Some of your posts are good, but let’s work on how we put them out in cyberspace. Most of you look like you are completely uneducated, and that in fact does nothing to lend to your credibility. Please look up words and remember high school English. I get embarrassed when my liberal friends point to your errors.

    First the income tax is not a fee. A fee is something different from a tax. My 8th grade government students know this. Social Security while the narrator says puts away money, in reality doesn’t. According to two Supreme Court Cases by a conservative court at the time, you are not entitled to Social Security you do not pay into it like an insurance policy. Check out the case Flemming vs. Nestor. Again my 8th graders know that. I won’t go into the 2nd Liberty Bond Act which did a LOT more than just set the debt limit. Wow interesting how the little graph they drew is wrong. The debt limit is not an upward slope. Truman lowered the debt limit during and after the Korean War which was funded by tax payer dollars not bonds. See Truman thought his generation should pay for the conflict, unlike Bush who thought his children and grand children should keep paying for his wars. Again, the graph is wrong, Truman was able to pay off on the interest…you know what this is silly.

    Wow…Congress wants to raise the debt limit by more than a trillion. Unlike in 2003 when it raised it by $934 billion, or in 2006 by $896 billion. Oh I love the quotes we know better then the vital national interest of the country. You know quotes like these:

    Really people voted on the issue of social security? That wasn’t just something out of the New Deal done by Congress was it. Wow I have to go reteach my 8th graders their history.

    If “WE THE PEOPLE” decided to take down those in Washington it would not be that hard. Just get around 10,000 people to show up at the next “State of The Union” Address and walk in close the doors behind us and SEIZE these bastards and start over with all ONE TERM LIMITS and no coming back later and running for office again. As for the one we Seize prosecute them all for TREASON and give them Life in prison with no possibility of parole ever!! Remember what the Constitution states at the very beginning. :WE THE PEOPLE” Not We The Government!!

    Has anyone noticed that even the Republicans sit by and allow this crap to go on and on and on when they know they can IMPEACH Obama after all he has committed offence after offence and the Congress does NOTHING!!!

    “Spend more than is earned, means going broke & kaput”.
    Then know there’s only directions:
    1. Print more money, [THE cause for inflation see 1930's Germany million Mark postage stamps]
    2. Cut spending by getting rid of duplication of Fed Gov. do we need 30 Dept’s in housing?
    3. Increase Tax rates, not a smart idea during a depression & high, unemployment and underemployment.
    So, question is: “How did we get there”? WE voted with our wallets in mind not with our minds!
    Quite simple many of us have sold YES SOLD our votes to the highest bidders the Progressives of both Parties!

    Some food for thought: Could it be that the RINO politicians and traitor Democrats will vote to raise the debt limit without fear of being voted out of office because that already know one of two things:
    One, that there will not be any more elections because Obama will eventually declare martial law and shut down all opposition to his transforming America into a Marxist controlled government.
    Or two, they have already figured out a way to steal the upcoming election by voter fraud or some other crooked and devious way? These traitors would not be acting like they are if they knew that there was any possibility of them being removed from office by the voters in the upcoming election. I am of the opinion that they know something we don’t don’t know right now that is causing them to disregard the wishes of most of the American people without fear of being voted out of office. Time will tell if I am right.

    Who stands to gain from this terrible situation? You have to ask yourself which party gains the most by continuing this barrow and spend cycle that has us in debt over $14T with an annual interest payment of over $400B (40% of our budget). The answer is, “The party that can buy the most votes with the money and not have the final bill come due”. Each party is hoping that the other one will be in power when the final ax falls and they can’t barrow any more. That is the point where our creditors say, “NO! We won’t buy your bonds or Notes. They are worthless!”. That party will get the blame and loose power, regardless of who got us there. It is a game of Russian Roulette with our financial future.
    What can the average citizen do to stoop this disaster before it happens? The only option that we have at this point is to tell congress to pass the Balanced Budget Amendment (BBA) to the constitution. That one thing will force congress to take away all the candy and favors that they are passing out to stay in power. If they don’t pass the BBA and send it to the states for ratification then we should toss them all our at the election booth. Every one that did not vote for the solution should be voted out, regardless of their reason for opposition. This could all be done in one year if every American understood the real problem. It would not be pretty and we could all have to make a lot of changes and sacrifices, but it would save us in the long run and take all that power away from a greedy bloated congress.
