President Obama to Pull Out 10,000 U.S. Troops from Afghanistan by End of Year

Fox News has learned that President Obama will announce Wednesday evening that he will withdraw 10,000 troops from Afghanistan by the end of this year.

The president is scheduled to address the nation at 8pm, Eastern time, from the White House to lay out the details.

Sources outside the White House also say that the rest of the 30,000 surge troops, approximately 23,000, will be removed by the “end of summer” 2012.

It is expected, say these sources, that by September 1, 2012, all of the U.S. surge troops that President Obama sent to Afghanistan to try to regain momentum there will be back home.

The president has long said he would wind down operations in Afghanistan as quickly as the situation allowed, but that the pace and scope of that withdrawal would be conditions-based. A senior administration official tells Fox that in making his decision the president focused on key areas. “As the President deliberated on the drawdown, progress made on the core goal against Al Qaeda and the objectives outlined in the paragraph below were the key factors,” the official said, referring to the president’s 2009 speech at West Point in which he announced his plan for the surge forces.

    people make too much of “higher standard of living.” I think its better to be completely free of no governemt and no capitalism and live in a dangerous world than it is to live in our modern post industrial consumer society. Life here is boring anyway and people only think their free. There was graffitti that said “go to work send your kids to school, follow fashion, act normal, walk on the pavement, watch TV, save for your old age, obey the law, repeat after me you are free.” That illustrates the problem of so-called advanced society. Its just so boring to live in a country like this. AS AN ANARCHIST, I AM PROUD TO SAY DISOBEY THE LAW.

    Dumbass! I have a son who is on his second combat tour in southern A-stan. Either we kill the bastards or come home now, not this gradual withdrawal. What the hell is wrong. We have been in A-stan longer than WWI, WWII and Korea together. Either we kill the SOBs or we get the hell out of there. Let our young men do what they were trained to do or bring them home. Why are we there???????????????????? Put our military on the southern border with shoot to kill orders.

I believe he is just reshuffling them to send them to other countries. He treats our sons and daughters as if they’re chess pieces to amuse himself with. We Are Not free and havn’t been for a few decades if I’m remem ‘ing correctly but it was Obama’s predicessor’s use the patriot act that opened the flood gates to undercut our liberties USA Inc. n fed approved

        uummm, why did we go to A’stan… AFTER IRAQ and gov had no contingency plan…said no one could have forseen what happened.
        There are history books and we armed , trained n observed A’stan fightrs 4 20yrs (used or LET ‘em war with Rusia so our guys didn’t have to) + their own analysts knew and admin advised 2 facts they were aware of ( there would be an insugency ,2 avg insurge fight was 9 yrs) but Bush/Rumsfld group ignored n fed people a royal crock… can u tell me a $ figure these 2 wars cost per week(I had 2 stop looking) times 8 yrs and there is so little conservative talk about it. Please, can we/will we broaden the scope and get a real healthy discourse To Save Our people? The powerful are playing its citizens like a fiddle and we aren’t even making it hard for them. Barry never learned the lessons of Viet Nam because he was in Indonesia (where only citizens can go to school) while the war was going on. Barry never learned or wanted to think it through that the Taliban now now our end plan and will simply sit back and wait until we withdraw before coming back to Afghanistan and raping, murdering, and taking away the rights of women.

    Perhaps Barry feels he now has EARNED his Nobel Peace Prize now. But the rest of us will have to live in shame that some were not smart enough to find out who Barry “O” was before they voted for him. Shame on all of you. You ALL owe the rest of us to vote against Barry in 2012.

    Does this POS know how a soldier feels when a large number of his buddies are removed from the battle field. Either , pull all of them out at the same time, or pull no one out. I would be happier if ALL were brought back home and placed on our borders, north and south, with the same orders .Shoot to kill.

    Obama is just hopping to get more votes. I can’t see it working. For one thing it will not chance the fact there is still no jobs, gas prices to high and the cost of food . He is talking about opening up the reserves, but that will only be for votes too. He needs to go. Also his wife who thinks tax paiers are her bank account. She is to busy spending our money in Africa. Like she is really important. She is nothing.
