Obama Jokes at Jobs Council: ‘Shovel-Ready Was Not as Shovel-Ready as We Expected’

President Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness met today in Durham, NC at Cree Inc., a company that manufactures energy-efficient LED lighting. One of the Council’s recommendations to President Obama was to streamline the federal permit process for construction and infrastructure projects. It was explained to Obama that the permitting process can delay projects for “months to years … and in many cases even cause projects to be abandoned … I’m sure that when you implemented the Recovery Act your staff briefed you on many of these challenges.” At this point, Obama smiled and interjected, “Shovel-ready was not as … uh .. shovel-ready as we expected.” The Council, led by GE’s Jeffrey Immelt, erupted in laughter.

    Of course these two find the current plight of America amusing; it means their goals are being realized. I can’t believe so many people voted for this criminal without the even slightest curiosity as to who he really is. Evidently the Progressives plans to dumb down Americans has worked pretty well for them too. Shame on all of you and damn you for aiding and abetting in the destruction of America.       I read an article in the Canadian Free Press, which said something to the effect that America could survive a president like Obama, but America may not be able to survive a citizenry with such a sense of entitlement that they would elect a man like Obama. Sadly, I agree.

        Too many of the people who put Obama in the WH in the first place still believe that if they wait long enough he will give them a free house and put free gas in their car. If he is re-elected they are much more likely to find themselves with no house, no car and no gas as our social welfare system will be one of the first things that collapses.

      2011: Obama unConstitutionally seeks authorization from the United Nations to declare war on Libya for ‘humanitarian’ reasons, altogether bypassing a Congressional declaration. It is my understanding that he also sought authorization from the Arab Council (or was it the Arab League?)

      I didn’t put “quotes” around these, because I didn’t look up the EXACT wording…but Obama did say these things which can easily be verified online by anyone who would like to see/hear the exact wording.

      Let us not forget that Obama also said in his book (and I’m paraphrasing again) that ‘should the political winds shift in an ugly direction, he would stand with the muslim people.’ (or something very close to that).

      Notice he didn’t say he would ‘stand with the American people?’ I sure did…

    Sadly I am an older person in construction. (average age is 50 in construction) I have waited for 3 years for those shovel ready jobs to begin. Even the Teamsters Union here in the pacific northwest isn’t doing real well. So much for all the perks and jobs for union employees… Not happening. What really chaps my hide is all the “funny” remarks this president makes. Like the one featured above. I am not laughing as my job is gone and my house goes to auction in a few days… But gee wasn’t he trilling about all those McDonald’s jobs that opened up last month when they got the healthcare exemption? Think they want a 56 year old construction worker to flip burgers? hint; I don’t think so.

    I wasn’t laughing when he talked about “shared sacrifice” when the only sacrifices are being made by his “human capital.” I don’t notice he or any of his cronies making any sacrifices. They seem to be living it large, even larger than before!

    I wasn’t laughing when he laughingly told us to buy a Volt when we could afford it. It wasn’t funny when he said that he didn’t know what to tell all of us who had to commute to work in a non-Volt car that didn’t get good mileage. With his “necessarily skyrocketing” electric bills, how exactly are we to pay the electric bill, adding a Volt to it? He already told us that we weren’t going to be able to heat and cool our houses to comfort levels no matter where we lived. Was anybody listening to that? I wasn’t laughing.

    He thinks ALL of this is a joke. We are a joke, we are nothing but human capital. Our needs and comfort are as nothing to him, merely a subject of not funny jokes and inappropriate laughter! (This is the respect we get for working hard and supporting the whole damned world on welfare!) While this monster spends money that we don’t have on endless expensive vacations for himself and his family, the rest of us slaves are wondering if we can afford to eat! Oh wait, didn’t he snicker about how we weren’t going to be able to eat as much as we wanted any more? We are all too fat? I wasn’t laughing then either.

    I have been out of work since September 2008, my company cut 18 people off a defense project as soon as it looked like Obama’s poll numbers started to rise. I was working on the FCS project and when Obama made his speech that he would defund it, the company took an early out.

    I have been seeking work ever since, lots of jobs are listed at the employment office but they do not seem to be hiring.

    As for Obama’s “Shovel ready jobs” quip, as far as I am concerned the has been President can “take his job and shove(l) it”.

The “shovel” ready jobs didn’t have any shovels, the shovel factories closed up shop. There was no orders for shovels. Really this President has villianized the banks, wall street, and the wealthy.     I was eating lunch on the 20th of February with my 10-year old niece, and I asked her, “What day is tomorrow?” She said, “It’s President’s Day!” She is a smart kid. I asked “What does President’s Day mean?” I was waiting for something about Washington or Lincoln … etc.

    She replied, “President’s Day is when President Obama steps out of the White House, and if he sees his shadow we have one more year of unemployment.”

      don’t just vote volunteer to work at the polls watching for fraud, offer to drive people to polls who have no other way to get there. Tell people you work with the lastest thing he has done to destroy america. I have had people at work ask me about certain things that they have heard and want to know what I know about it. Educate people about what the need to know and have sources to back it up. If the American people would have taken time to investicate their canidate Obama would never had been elected. If you listen to the liberal media you will remain ignorant. Tune into Fox News. Listen to Rush, Hannity, Levin, Cunningham, Savage and any other conservative talk show host. Check out what they tell you. Check you Internet for the lasted politcal happenings. Keep informed. Dont let some party leader to make your decisions.
