Delta adopts Saudi ‘no-Jew’ fly policy

Delta Air Lines’ plan to add Saudi Arabian Airlines to its SkyTeam Alliance of partnering companies would require the American carrier to ban Jews and holders of Israeli passports from boarding flights from New York or Washington bound for Jeddah, prompting outraged accusations of illegal religious discrimination.

The issue, which has caught the attention of the American Center for Law and Justice already, was raised when Washington attorney Jeffrey Lovitky was perusing airline procedures for travel.

“As we learn more about the issue and facts, we are determined to ensure that American citizens do not face discrimination by airlines like Delta that are passenger code-sharing with Saudi Arabian Airlines, said Colby M. May, director and senior counsel of the ACLJ.

    Well, I publish a newsletter and will put in a blurb about this for number one. I will also begin telling everyone I meet to send a letter to Delta to deluge them with mail. If they have an email site, I will also publish this to encourage USA to boycott Delta! This is heinous in order to make money!!!! SHADES OF HITLER & HIS REICH!!!!! P.S. Obama and his Islamic worshippers would go wild and the mainstream media would be condemning Delta and organizing boycots of the airline and it’s affiliates. Eric Holder and the DOJ would be grounding all Delta flights until they reversed their policy toward Muslims, but apparently not toward Jews.

          In 1948, when Israel won the war which was started by 4 bordering Arab nation, close to 500,000 Jewish people were expelled from all Muslim lands. Israel absorbed them. Why would a Jewish person fly to Saudi Arabia? He wouldn’t be allowed in. He would have to fly back.

Much better to open up our lands and drill for the resources we already have. Do you know why socialism has worked in Europe as long as it has? Because the USA spends billions every year protecting them. Think their systems would have failed sooner if not for us? Reason why so many poor now is due to socialistic policies over the last 100 years plus. Liberal politicians don’t want you rich. They want you poor so that you depend on them and then they can control you. There are many places back in the old days where people that really needed help could go and get help. That is their govt. not any airline/travel company. I find it hard to believe that the article is entirely true and would go to the source before making any statements of boycotts.

    What if we could get every passenger planning a flight on Delta to simply take a week off from flying Delta? Fly another airline. That would teach them (and reach them in the pocketbook) that a policy accomodation to placate the towelheads (in Jeddah) is Anti-American. The Chairman of Delta should read the 1st Amendment to the US Constitution. But if he endorses a policy such as this, I may be giving him more credit that he even has a brain that functions like an American.

      The simple explanation is that a lot of the liberals believe in the “social justice” issues that a lot of Jewish people believe in, too. In that sense, I suppose you could call them “values voters-” that vote for those things they think are important to them.

      Unfortunately, many of these candidates also support things that are either un-Constitutional, un-American, or are simply bad ideas.

      To be frank, I support the idea of social justice, but not by force of government as many liberal politicians do. People should be left to come to these realizations and accords on their own, and those that don’t will simply be left by the wayside.

      True social justice isn’t liberal or conservative. It’s a concept of respect and basic dignity that all people are entitled to.

      It’s not entitlements doled out by some centralized authority (state, church or secular,) but the freedom to make the most of what you have, and a responsibility to act of your own free will to help others do the same, as much as you can, without injury to yourself or others.

      Too many people have lost sight of that. And now we pay the price as a nation.

      I make what they call on the spot moratoriums. Let’s say you get bad service, I tell myself depending on the severity, I tell myself I ain’t coming back here for 6 months!

      And I KEEP MY WORD no matter the economic or financial hardship!!!

      Sometimes it’s 3 months, sometimes a year, and sometimes NEVER!!!! Depends.

      When Panansonic gave me bad service I swore never to buy a Panny product again.

I don’t see anything about prohibiting Jews from flying on Delta to any other destination? So who is the issue – Delta or the Saudi govt?     Earlier today some Jewish and Christian readers in the blogosphere were fired up about stories that Delta Airlines, in its new alliance with Saudi Arabian Airlines, might wind up enforcing a Saudi policy of not admitting Iraelis and non-Islamic religious items like Bibles on their flights.

    Delta Air Lines spokesman Trebor Banstetter responded with its non-discrimination policy and posted on their blog:

    We’ve gotten questions today from you, our concerned customers, following an article about Saudi Arabian Airlines joining SkyTeam (the global airline alliance that includes Delta as a member). After listening to many of your thoughts today, we’d like to take this opportunity to share some information and help to clarify some of the questions we know you have.

    First and foremost, I think one of the most important things to mention here is that Delta does not discriminate nor do we condone discrimination against anyone in regards to age, race, nationality, religion, or gender.

    That said, some have raised questions about whether Saudi Arabian Airlines’ membership in SkyTeam means Delta is adopting any type of policies that could present barriers to travel for some passengers, including Jewish customers. For this particular concern, it’s important to realize that visa requirements to enter any country are dictated by that nation’s government, not the airlines, and they apply to anyone entering the country regardless of whether it’s by plane, bus or train.

    We, like all international airlines, are required to comply with all applicable laws governing entry into every country we serve. You as passengers are responsible for obtaining the necessary travel documents, such as visas and certification of required vaccinations, and we’re responsible for making sure that you have the proper documentation before you board.

      Here’s a history lesson regarding America. It sometimes has a habit of promoting capitalism in countries who have no interest in democratic principles. One of the most glaring examples was Henry Ford Sr. and the Ford Motor Company doing business in Nazi Germany. In fact, Henry Ford sent Adolf Hitler sent monetary gifts every year through 1944. Henry Ford Sr. was a known anti-Jewish American.

      Saudi Arabia is also very anti-Jewish and anti-anyone who is not Muslim. Unlike Delta Airlines, a publicly held corporation not run by the U.S. government, the Saudi Arabian Airlines is controlled by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It therefore must follow the policies of its government or face dire consequences.

      On the other hand, Delta Airlines has a choice. Since it has a non-discrimination policy, then it should communicate that it will not do business with any organization or country that discriminates based on race, religion, etc. Capitalism and political freedom go together.

      American businesses who think that opening up capital markets to non-democratic countries will usher in democracy are mistaken. Look at the all of the new American capital markets in the People’s Republic of China. Yes, China is more capitalistic in its desires, but it is still run firmly by a totalitarian communist government that still commits numerous human rights violations. Oh, by the way, does Delta Airlines fly to China?

      I’m a Christian values and a free enterprise economic conservative, and it is impossible to square racism with either of these.

      This post is about a story, which it now appears was not entirely accurate, alleging that Delta Airlines had agreed to join and support a Saudi Arabian economic boycott or blockade against Jews as part of its and other airlines’ coordination. We have had a problem for years in that sovereign nations have the power to exclude anyone they choose. Saudi Arabia, which owns its airline (socialism) as do Belgium and many other countries, is still technically at war with Israel, and refuses admission to Israelis and Jews, not to mention others whose passports rveal that they have been or are going to Israel. I disagree strongly with that policy, but must we admit people from North Korea or other countries legally or practically at war with us? The airlines are just caught in the middle of this mess because Saudi Arabia will not let a passenger who is Jewish or has Israel on its passport stamps enter its territory or parts of it. This existed for years and could, through no fault of Delta’s or any other American airline, affect anyone even if Delta never flew near Saudi Arabia but was only a connecting carrier. The Arab Boycott Office also enforces a boycott against companies that sell directly to Israel, but I think both sides wink at third party transactions via anonymous corporations with bearer shares and convenience intermediate destinations. Basically, all Delta is going to do here is warn travelers about the problem.
      The brutally simple fact here is that we are utterly dependent upon, and deeply indebted to, Saudi Arabia and other countries whose discriminatory policies against Jews, Christians, females, human rights activists, etc. we, and others, deplore, and are not in a position to exercize any real leverage or otherwise negotiate change. Same with China. We’re so deeply iddebted to them, not to mention dependent upon them for manufactured goods, that they hold all the cards.
      Ideally, some things, like the murders and other persecutions of Christians, whether or not they have converted, Jews, or members of any other group, because of such membership, are species of the same kind of crimes against humanity as piracy and slavery, and countries should have more ability to protect not only their own citizens but others, but it just is not physically practical. The grand old days of “This government wants Pericardis alive or Raizulli dead” are long gone.

    Up to 1991 I was the highest Medallion frequent flier you could be on Delta. I even went out of my way riding a bus from Charles-De-Gaul to Orly when coming from Saudi back to the States to fly on Delta. That ended in 1991 when I was returning from Jeddah to Denver for vacation and had a 6 hour lay-over in Atlanta, which I spent in the little pub across from my gate drinking beer. After 2 months in Jeddah I was thirsty… I’ll admit I was feeling pretty good, but being an Airline Transport Pilot and knowing the regulations concerning boarding an inebriated passenger (which I was not), I took great offense when I was told that I was being denied boarding on my flight. I was put on another flight that departed 2 hours later going to Denver by way of St Louis. I guess it was assumed that I would sober up in the 2 hours… A note: the flight I was initially on was overfull. I wrote to customer service and noted that unless I received an apology I would NEVER fly Delta again. The reply was “We don’t care”, more or less. Tuffawallajellybean. I stayed in the Middle East until 2001, flying British Airways and I reckon With family vacations and twice yearly refresher training at least $500,000 in revenue was denied Delta and spent on BA in the next 10 years, since my travel was in First Class. I was not surprised when Delta almost went bankrupt. The only time I HAD to fly on Delta was when my Mother died and they were the only way to get to the funeral on time.

    This capitulation to the arabs and muslims only serves to reinforce my resolve to never fly Delta again. I worked for the Saudis and in the UAE for over 16 years, so I know them and their religion, and Delta is therefore even more disgusting to me with this action. I’ll take the Jews and Israel over those blights on humanity any day, and I will stand and fight for and with them if it comes to that. Go Jews and go Israel.

      I doubt that, by your input, that you are an aviator (I would hope not) but it does go to the fact that you do not have a clue. Delta does not decide who or whom not enters any country, the country of entry does. And by the way you chastize a companyfor what you claim to have done for years, e.g. “made money” off of an undesireable entity. Get a life!

Had I been President on Septemner 11, 2001, I would have given the Saudis 3 hours to vacate Medina and I would have nuked it until the sand turned to glass. I would have told Binladen and his crew of Islamofacists that Mecca was next unless he and his crew surrendedred to US troops. If he refused, I would have nuked Mecca until another Haj couldn’t be held for 10,oo years and I would vaporize anyone in Mecca on the third day.

    Since illegal aliens from Mexico are entitled to the full protection of US rights, then any traveler passing through US territory is by right of access to US territory, entitled to the full protection of US laws, and that includes the 14th Amendment. Delta and Saudi Air waves need to have a few bucks removed from their perspective burnooses. If they are here they are subject to US laws.

    What facetious dribble–unless the transfer requires a stayover, then the passenger never actually enters the country but remains in transit in the airport–this is a violation of international law restricting international travel. Delta checks visas before travel? Only if the undesirables might be present.

    For got to add, those requesting a visa, say to UAR, et. al that have an Israeli endorsement in their passport will normally be denighed a visa. That is why people who do business in the mid-east have two passports, one with Israeli endorsements and one sans those endorsements.

    Being of the Jewish Faith I do not have anything that shows me as a Jew. I can control the urge to bow down to God during the flight. Some other Jews do have some markings Delta could use. I am amazed Delta allowed this to happen. Some of the upper management of Delta are also Jewish. I wonder what they are doing right now?

In WWI, the British saved them from Turks, Persia and the Germans, during WWII The British and Americans save them from the Italians and Germans again. How can we accomplish this ? If we cannot vote the bloodsuckers out ( which is doubtful due to corruption of the voting process ) then I would hope that our military would do the job . Does this sound like a Third World country ? Yes .     The best way to let Delta know that this policy will not be tolerated is to boycott the airline. The way to get to them is through their pocketbooks as they are profit motivated. If enough people refuse to ride Delta, they will reverse that policy post haste. We need to get the message through to them loud and clear that discrimination against Jews is unacceptable!
