Pelosi agrees with White House on requiring contractors to reveal political donations
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday that she supports the Obama administration’s proposal to require companies bidding for federal contracts to reveal their political donations.
“I salute the president for what he did,” Pelosi said at her weekly news conference at the Capitol.
She noted that last year she supported the House-passed DISCLOSE Act, which would have restricted corporate spending on elections. That proposal died in the Senate.
The executive order being drafted by the White House would enact similar restrictions on donors, although, as Pelosi noted Thursday, it “only narrow(s) it to those who have contracts with the government.”
