Shock Poll: Only 38% Say Obama ‘Definitely’ Born in USA

Though Trump initially got attention by expressing doubts whether Obama was born in the USA, that issue is not driving his support. Among those who say they definitely or might vote for Trump, only about a third question whether the president was born in the USA.

Support from the “birthers” is stronger for Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney. The issue has persisted even though Hawaii has released an official Certificate of Live Birth showing Obama was born there, a fact confirmed in non-partisan investigations by FactCheck.org and others.

Still, in the USA TODAY poll, only 38% of Americans say Obama definitely was born in the USA, and 18% say he probably was. Fifteen percent say he probably was born in another country, and 9% say he definitely was born elsewhere.

      If Trump is serious about this issue, he will continue to determine what happened to "The Birth Certificate." There is certainly a reason why all this is happening now. It needs to be settled one way or the other and put to rest for good. It is a sad day in America when so much is taken for granted and a simple thing as a birth cerificate cannot be available.

        In the state of Missouri if you are under 65 years they require you to show your birth certificate. Many places of employment require your birth certificate. I don't know if he has one or not but it is a requirement that the president be a natural born citizen so why aren"t the candidates for president required to show the birth certificate to prove they are a natural born citizen?

        No. Most of the documents at the time say something circular, like a natural born citizen is someone who is born a citizen. There was some argument historically about whether African Americans were considered citizens, and whether citizenship was a birthright or was based on place of birth. Birthers are claiming hoping for the "birthright" explanation (no, nothing racist about that at all).

        The 14th amendment says that anyone born in the US is a citizen. So, if natural-born means "born a citizen", anyone born in the US meets the requirements. For this reason, I would never expect the birthright nonsense to carry any traction in court.

      I live in Hawaii, about 3 yrs ago was reading and watching a site that had his grand mother and aunt standing next to a mud hut. They both said through interpreters that Obama was borne in that hut as they pointed directly at this hut in Africa. A minute later it was taken off line so I listened to a local talk show in HNL as they too heard and saw the same thing.
      Within 30 minutes the then Rep. governor Linda Lindal was seen carrying a batch of papers in and back out later of Queens hospital.
      I surmise that the DNC called her and offered strict threat to her or her family to do what ever they so suggested. I would never trust

        What they released wasa Certifcate of a Live Birth which means a baby was born. This COLB is worthless to prove origin of birth especially in Hawaii in 1960 when foreign births were being recorded. The only answer is the long form birth certificate which Obama has spent over 2 mil to keep under raps.

        The first blcak president will be found a usurper of the constitution he swore to uphold.

    Anyone in their right mind with common sense would say the man is hiding something in his past. Is it the birth certificate? Is it that hes not who he says he is with all the social security numbers and alias names? His parents perhaps were not the ones he claims? Criminal activities? I so tired of the coverups.       It would seem to me that no one can be a leader except that he has someone to lead. Therefore, how do we "untie" the hands and mouths that have been tied since he began his term in office.     The entire point of Obama's birth certificate and where he was born is really an insignificant matter.

    The real issue is that our elected legislators have never seen it fit to enact laws that require proof of eligibility for all elected offices. It is pure insanity to create a situation where anyone who chooses to do can run for US president and most other elected offices without ever providing any proof that the person is legally qualified. On top of that the court rulings make a legal challenge impossible since nobody appears to have the legal standing to sue.

    Omar Ghadaffi, Bin Laden, Putin, etc. can run for US president by claiming to meet the qualifications. If the claims are true or not does not matter since they cannot be legally challenged. That is true insanity.

    And the liberals have the nerve to call "birthers" crazy.

    Hawaii has NEVER released an "Official Certificate of Live Birth".

    What was released – although no one seems to know by whom – was a 'certification of live birth' – no hospital, no delivery doctor, basically no nothing that could/would confirm the actual place of birth.

    Further, it matters not where he was born, he was adopted by Lolo Soetoro, Indonesian citizen – the 'original' was destroyed and re-issued with Soetoro as the birth father, and the child's new name Barry Soetoro, Indonesian citizen.

    That is probably why his mother, Stanley Ann Dunham Obama Soetoro, had the State Department remove him, a minor child, from her passport, him being an Indonesian citizen and all. That would also explain why he did not hold an American passport until he was in the Illinois Senate, and how he traveled to Pakistan and Indonesia in the early 1980s. It would, probably, also explain why his "draft registration" was falsified – I don't think that foreign nationals can be drafted. I doubt that he would have had a real SSN either, being an Indonesian citizen, and all, but he had to have one for Illinois politics – why not borrow one from Connecticut – the dead guy wasn't using it any more, anyway.

John McCain did but Obama was given a free pass. Everyone who says that Obama was borne in the USA without seeing proof are like sheep being led to slaughter. Maybe that is where Obama is leading all of us. Not only that has anyone ever stated that they attended school or college with Obama? No, but some have said that they went to the same schools as Obama did and they never knew him. Has anyone ever said I worked at the hospital where Obama was borne and was present during his birth or any doctor or nurse come forward and said they delivered Obama? No

    A certificate of live birth is not a valid birth certificate. It is based off of heresay and not an actual appearance at birth in a hospital. Heck, a turnip or a grape can get one if they travel through Hawaii. Personally, I don't really care as Obama has done more in two years to destroy this country and it's economy than all destructive decisions made by all the Presidents combined since the beginning of the Presidency.

    Hawaii has never released an official "Certificate of Live Birth." The released document is a "Certification of Live Birth," which is used for adopted individuals and individuals born in other countries or states. The "Certificate," which is the long-form birth certificate, is still missing.

    I feel that if Obama had to produce his birth certificate it would prove many things rumored about him. It certainly would prove he is not qualified to be president.     Hawaii has a law that provides for parents both of which who have had a legal residence in Hawaii who have a baby born overseas simply have to submit a letter requesting a birth certificate once they can prove they had such legal residence. There is no question that Obama's mother qualified under that provision. The question is whether his father did or did not. International law at that time provided that children born outside their parents native lands would be citizens of the land of the father. Obama's father never became a citizen of the United States. The question is whether he ever became a legal resident of Hawaii since he was only there on a student visa.

    It is very possible that if he was born outside the state of Hawaii that he could still have been given a birth certificate by virtue of false statements concerning the residency of his father. The entitlement to be considered a natural citizen has been interpreted to mean what ever each state declares to be qualification of state citizenship. If it could be proven that he was born elsewhere and that the current birth certificate being shown all over the Internet and TV media was provided upon false facts concerning the state residency of his father then that would mean that his birth certificate might not be worth the paper it is printed on.

    Has anyone asked to see tax papers made out by his parents for the years prior to and including his birth–they might shed a lot of light as to whether his father ever was more than a visiting student or not.

I let O'Reilly know that if I or my children had been born in B F Egypt, there would have been an announcement in my parents home town paper. When he was running for Senator an interviewer asked him if he was born in the USA. His answer was, it doesn't matter, I am not running for President.

    at the time of Obama's birth, however it was a republic when the copy was ordered.

    The birth certificate is genuine. I assure you it will be authenticated by a forensic auditor. We are very proud Obama was born here.

    We have a shrine for him and there are many people who remember his birth here as he had a white mother.

    They are being interviewed now by one of your media outlets.

    Fortunately they even have pictures of his parents with him immediately after his birth at the Mombasa hospital with the

    hospital in the back ground.

    Just common knowledge that citizens of a country and especially American citizens who even know that Andrew Jackson's wife smoked a corn cob pipe and was accused of adultery or that Lincoln never went to school or Kennedy wore a back brace or Truman played the piano.

    Good grief… we are Americans! We are known for our humanitarian interests and caring for our 'fellow man'. We care, but none of us know one single humanizing fact about the history of our own president. Honestly, and this is a personal thing…but it's niggled at me for ages that no one who ever dated him ever showed up. The simple fact of his charisma that caused the women to be drawn to him so obviously during his campaign, looks like some lady would not have missed the opportunity…. We all know about JFK's magnetism, McCain was no monk, Palin's courtship and even her athletic prowess were probed… Biden's aneurisms are no secret. Look at Cheney and Clinton.. we all know about their heart problems and certainly speaking of the opposite sex- how could I have left out Wild Bill before or during the White House? Nope…. not one lady has stepped up and said, "He was soooo shy…" or "What a great dancer!!" Now look at the rest of this… no classmates, not even the recorder for the Columbia class notes ever heard of him….

    Who was the best man at his wedding? Start there. Then check groomsmen.

    Then get the footage of the graduation ceremony. Has anyone talked to the professors? It is odd that no one is bragging that they knew him or taught him or lived with him.

    When did he meet Michele and how? Are there photos there? Every president gives to the public all their photos, etc. for their library, etc. What has he released? And who in hell voted for him to be the most popular man in 2010?

    Does this make you wonder? Ever wonder why no one ever came forward from President Obama's past saying they knew him, attended school with him, was his friend, etc. ?? Not one person has ever come forward from his past.

George Stephanopoulos of ABC News said the same thing during the 2008 campaign. He questions why no one has acknowledged the president was in their classroom or ate in the same cafeteria or made impromptu speeches on campus. Stephanopoulos also was a classmate of Obama at Columbia — the class of 1984. He says he never had a single class with him.

    While he is such a great orator, why doesn't anyone in Obama's college class remember him? And, why won't he allow Columbia to release his records?

    NOBODY REMEMBERS OBAMA AT COLUMBIA

    Looking for evidence of Obama's past, Fox News contacted 400 Columbia University students from the period when Obama claims to have been there, but none remembered him.

    Wayne Allyn Root was, like Obama, a political science major at Columbia who also graduated in 1983. In 2008, Root says of Obama, "I don't know a single person at Columbia that knew him, and they all know me. I don't have a classmate who ever knew Barack Obama at Columbia .. EVER!

    Nobody recalls him. Root adds that he was also, like Obama, "Class of '83 political science, pre-law" and says, "You don't get more exact or closer than that." Never met him in my life, don't know anyone who ever met him. At the class reunion, our 20th reunion five years ago, who was asked to be the speaker of the class? Me. No one ever heard of Barack! And five years ago, nobody even knew who he was. The guy who writes the class notes, who's kind of the, as we say in New York, 'the macha' who knows everybody, has yet to find a person, a human who ever met him."

    Obama's photograph does not appear in the school's yearbook and Obama consistently declines requests to talk about his years at Columbia , provide school records, or provide the name of any former classmates or friends while at Columbia ..

    NOTE: Root graduated as Valedictorian from his high school, Thornton-Donovan School , then graduated from Columbia University in 1983 as a Political Science major in the same class in which Barack Hussein Obama states he was.

    It is circulating that according to the U.S. Census, there is only one Barack Obama but 27 Social Security numbers and over 80 aliases. WHAT? The Social Security number he uses now originated in Connecticut where he is never reported to have lived.

    No wonder all his records are sealed!

    I don’t mind being called a birther, because it is a simple question, that even gravity would have us answer. Maybe the other side should be called birthers, since they believe Obama was “Born in the USA!” Recently I overheard a conversation of outrage against Trump’s asking this question. It went like this: “How is that going to make us feel any better, knowing he was born in Kenya?!?!” So my friends when you wonder about that 38% remember, they need to feel better, and this question is making them scared. Another reason not to vote for Obama if you are one of the 38%, get rid of the cause of your anxiety! Oh, and go take a chill-pill, you’ll feel better…

    Totally shocked at this conservative sites readers. I shared these comments with my grandmother and she could not believe how crazy the readers sound. I stumbled upon this site and the things written here are ridiculously made up and delusional. And no, I am not black. The President produced months ago ‘an official hawaii birth certificate’. Recently he produced the original long form birth certificate which has a bit more information like the hospital he was born in. The certified copy is the one that All Hawaiians receive currently. You guys all sound crazy. And you talk so much about the constitution when Republicans have the greatest amount of amendments to their beloved constitution. And the Republican Pres. Ronald Reagan had 17% higher deficit spending than the average Pres. of 5%. Obama’s is at 5% and a lot of that money was to save jobs and help the unemployed at a time of need. Bush was over 7%. Where was your conservative voices when your Republican Presidents drove spending to these levels? I showed this site to my mother who is a Republican and she does not want to be associated with people who sound that insane. You talk about immigrants born to one American parent and one illegal immigrant and want to send the American to a country he have no knowledge of. Shall we start with all the European settlers who had children here? Should we have sent them back to Europe also?
