The House has passed a bill that would fund our military personal and keep them out of the budget debate, but liberal democrats want to play political games with our soldiers and their pay.
Our troops are not political pawns to be played with. And this is exactly how President Obama has treated them in the current budget crisis.
Our military is in active war zones in Libya, Afghanistan, and Iraq. We have humanitarian efforts in Japan and many other places around the world. Yet, their Commander-in-Chief is vowing to veto their paychecks. The White House is quoted as saying: “The Administration strongly opposes House passage of H.R. 1363, making appropriations for the Department of Defense for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2011, and for other purposes. … This bill is a distraction from the real work that would bring us closer to a reasonable compromise for funding the remainder of Fiscal Year 2011 and avert a disruptive Federal Government shutdown that would put the Nation’s economic recovery in jeopardy. … If presented with this bill, the president will veto it.”
For our President to consider paying our military a “distraction” is totally unacceptable.
We the undersigned want the Senate and the President to keep our troops out of the political debate. Our troops are protecting us with their lives and deserve better than political rhetoric. We demand the passage of H.R. 1363 to honor our troops and give them the respect they have earned.
