Harry Reid to protect the Quran?

What’s the logical thing to do when one lone pastor decides to burn the Koran? Enact a law, of course. In response to Terry Jones’s burning of the Koran – which has prompted a violent response from Muslim extremists – Harry Reid has promised to investigate a new law. Glenn gave his reaction on radio this morning.

“It’s stupid to burn a Koran or a flag, but you should be able to do it if you’re that much of an idiot,” Stu said on Reid’s possible legislations.

Stu said that Glenn has been against these types of laws in the past, and opposes an amendment that would make it illegal to burn the flag.

“I think free speech goes beyond a cute little idea,” Glenn said.

“You want to burn my religious scriptures and all of those, you go ahead and burn them. I’m going to pray for you. I’m going to think that you are an idiot. I am going to think that that’s what Hitler did. Isn’t that weird? I’m going to think all of those things, but I’m going to ask you to stop, but I’m not going to try to pass an amendment that you can’t be an idiot in America,” Glenn said.

Amen, I don't want to burn a Koran but I defend a person's right to burn any book they don't like – it is protected free speech. I Harry Reid thinks he will abolish Koran burning with another stupid law he's got another thing coming. If he does that then I might consider burning all the Korans I can get my hands on.

      Of course given the performance history of Eric Holder's Justice Department, this turning of a blind eye shouldn't be surprising. Holder, probably the worst AG in U.S. History, famously cancelled an already decided indictment against some Black Panthers, who are caught on video in Philadelphia very clearly harrassing and intimidating voters to vote for guess who in last Presidential election.
      
      Oh yeah, in addition to his incredible lawsuit against the state of Arizona (great use of taxpayer $$!), is also threatening to sue any state that requires a photo I.D. for voter registration. c The reason for this is obvious–guess who all those illegals will vote for!

        My only comment to that is, was Angle less qualified then a person who has decided that the constitution is no longer a useful document?         Harry Reid won because of rigged voting machines, NOT Sharon Angle's qualifications. It has now been documented that many of the voting machines across the state were "allegedly" rigged in favor of Reid by the SEIU, a pro-Democratic and VERY pro-Reid organization. Voters all over the state reported voting machines changing their vote from Angle to Reid when their hands were not touching the machine. One man stated he saw his ballot change from Angle to Reid several times. When he called an election official about the matter the official stated "You just don't know how to operate the [voting] machine." This is the same response voters around the state received when they complained. Other voters stated when they pressed the START button on the voting machine Reid's name was already selected. That race should have been voided: SEIU programming the voting machines is the textbook definition of conflict of interest.

More home foreclosures than any other state and still going high for them. Reids son(who lost) and the union were in charge of the voting machines. Many voted and saw the vote change to reid over and over. He was selected people not elected.

  I happen to me a member of the same religion that Harry Reid claims membership in but I've come to the conclusion that what I know of my religion shows me that he is in favor of things that are in direct opposition to what our shared religion teaches. Our religion teaches the sanctity of life, true marriage is the union of a man and a woman, and the importance of the family. He seems to support abortion, gay marriage and the destruction of the family.

  I agree completely that a person has the right to burn anything; books or property, as long as it belongs to that person. I buy and sell things to help pay our bills since my wife and I are disabled, have consistently been denied Social Security and Disability as well as my personal claims for military disability for the past six years on the first two claims for both my wife and myself and for the pasdt eleven years on my military disability. We are both currently unemployed and have not been able to retain employment due to our disabilities and things have progressed to the point that the government judges have resorted to going outside government regulation and law to create excuses to disallow our claims resulting in our inability to find any further representation or to go forward with our claims. As to other public assistance, we did get food stamps for a short while while I tried to hold a part time job, but on the basis and in total indifference to my wife's inability to find any reasonable gainful and consistent employment due to her disabilities and her repeated termination from jobs for the same, we were denied any food stamps on my wife, because she remains unemployed (something I am sorely tempted to file discrimination suit for against the department of social services). Now don't get me wrong, we have both been trying to find full time employment and maintain the same. We still are both attempting to do so. But my wife is very petite and was born with hydrocephelis which presents a host of disability problems and repeated brain surgeries over the course of her life. I have militay related spinal injuries and civilian occupation related reinjuries. Military doctors and some civilian doctors (the latter later proven to have been refused payment by the employer unless they changed their original findings acknowledging my injuries to a negative, some notified by memo what their findings would be before even having any appointment made to examine me) claimed after initial positive findings (in the military's case, civilian findings and treatment after being refused military care initially to neasr the point of paralysis which was finally treated by the same civilian doctors) that there was nothing wrong with me, even though I was scheduled for extensive kinsiotherepy and physical therepy. Later, the VA doctors at another VA hospital began finding the injuries originally claimed along with arthretic symptoms and other findings indicating these injuries had obviously occured way back when originally claimed.
  
  Now what all this has to do with the burning of Qurans, or anything else for that matter, is that since we are medically incapable of finding and keeping ANY full time reasonable employment, both of us with extensive college education and massive bills, and since the federal government seems intent upon raking us across the proverbial coals regarding our access to public assistance and the applicable disability programs, we have resorted to the aforementioned attempts to support ourselves and tread water on our bills through selling what ever we can find in yard sales and small public auctions. In so doing, we do not do very well earning enough to survive and cannot afford storage for very much junk to sell. So we frequently end up burning the less profitable and least desirable items that we get as a matter of course. As we frequently get religious materials in the boxes of stuff we get and we are Christian (as well as my being an adherant of Native American traditions, we do see to it that the Bibles and most other religious materials we get are re-circulated. However, in as much as illegal alien agendas and islam are being forced down the collective throats of the non-islamic and the US Citizens in the United States, I personally find any materials pertaining to the two, especially the Spanish literature and most of all, the Quran as the absolutely reprehensible and the least desirable of all the materials we obtain. I find this especially so, so long as murder and terrorism continues along our southern border or anywhere in the United States and most of all as long as it is being done by the followers of and in the name of Allah (i.e. islam) with out restraint or the acknowledgment and public condemnation of the same by the supposed peaceful adherents of the same. As a strict policy and as much as we do not have the means to store such items and since I, in good conscience re-circulate anything related to such Godless and reprehensible thugs, trash and butchers, I have been and will continue to burn these items everytime I find myself owning the same, at least until those that these works represent prove themselves not to be the monsters the radical nuts among them seem determined to show them to be. Then maybe, when the terrorist are renounced and stopped by those who these people claim they represent (i.e. Mexicans and Muslims), when the ground zero orced upon us, Spanish as a replacement for English in the United States is no longer being pushed upon us, programs like NASA are no longer being twisted away from their designed mandates to be turned into Muslim outreach and feelgood programs and Sharia is no longer being forced upon us, maybe then, when the people protesting, doing violence and murder and showing continual and flagrant disrespect for OUR Republic, OUR Constitution, OUR Citizens and legal immigrants and legally invited guests and OUR American Flag, Laws and Traditions, then maybe I will be able to look upon them as friends and not feel as justified in holding back the works I destroy and maybe I will begin seeing justification in re-distributing them as well. Just for the record, I do not sell or redistribute any socialist, fascist or communist materials either. These works also join the Spanish, Azatlan, and Quran materials in the trash heap for burning. It is my legal right according to the Constitution and principles of freedom of speech to deny any ideals I do not believe in and to destroy or otherwise do as I wish with my personal property. These are the same rights used to justify CAIR, La Raza, obama and his cronies over ruling the combined will of the US Voters and to force their combined agendas upon us against our will. If it applies to them and we as Americans MUST respect their views and wishes, (which I do), then the reverse must also be true. You cannot have it one way for some and the other way for others. This is selective and unequal application of trhe law and as such, is very much illegal and unconstitutional. I will continue to exercise my God (Allah)-given and U.S. Constitutionally protected rights so long as the U.S. Constitution governs this Free Tepublic and so long as these things remain true.

I do not support any law that violates the Constitutional rights of an individual no matter how much I disagree with them. Having said that, when will the president, congress and the press raise hell over the imprisonment and killing of Christians and Jews, the burning of bibles, and the threats to kill all non-muslims in the world that comes from the governments of muslium countries.   We are often asked here at The Voice of the Martyrs to provide statistics regarding the extent of persecution faced by Christians around the world. How many are killed every year? How many in each country? How many are imprisoned in China/Vietnam/Egypt/etcetera? Of what denomination do they belong? One of the strangest requests we have ever received was when we were actually asked to supply the names of all of the Christians who had died in the previous twelve months! Yes, we in the Western world do love our statistics, confident that everything can and needs to be demonstrated empirically.
  
  The most common question has to do with how many Christians have been killed for their faith in a given year. After reading this article, perhaps you will understand why it is impossible to know with absolute certainty the exact number.
  
  According to the World Evangelical Alliance, over 200 million Christians in at least 60 countries are denied fundamental human rights solely because of their faith. David B. Barrett, Todd M. Johnson, and Peter F. Crossing in their 2009 report in the International Bulletin of Missionary Research (Vol. 33, No. 1: 32) estimate that approximately 176,000 Christians will have been martyred from mid-2008 to mid-2009. This, according to the authors, compares to 160,000 martyrs in mid-2000 and 34,400 at the beginning of the 20th century. If current trends continue, Barrett, Johnson and Crossing estimate that by 2025, an average of 210,000 Christians will be martyred annually.
  
  It is worth noting, however, that many have asked whether the figures cited by the annual Barrett/Johnson/Crossing reports are reliable. Indeed, many persecution experts have concluded that they are untenable. Queries to the researchers have shown that these figures are, in fact, projected averages or statistical guesses rather than based on hard figures or actual documentation. Hence, it should be understood that The Voice of the Martyrs does not stand behind this report's findings as being indisputable facts.
  
  The fact is, much of today's persecution still takes place in remote areas of countries often cut off from or with restricted access to modern communications. Most martyrs suffer and die anonymously, unknown, forgotten, their deaths unrecorded except in heaven. Even email, which most of us consider a basic everyday tool is a struggle to use in places like Ethiopia, Burma, and much of central Africa. Even where it is more readily available, it is not secure. Much goes unreported or is reported months, even years later. For many, persecution is such a part of life that it hardly dawns on the afflicted to tell the world. They don't know who to tell anyway and there are only so many organizations like VOMC with limited staff to seek them out. Even then, many are nervous about sharing what they know for fear of retribution.
  
  In short, persecution, by its very nature, defies being statistically analyzed with any degree of certitude.
  
  Our speakers and writers used to refer to the statistics above in their messages as a means of capturing the attention of the hearer/reader. But we found that while it got people's attention, it often ended there too, as the large numbers tend to overwhelm, leaving one with a sense of hopelessness in actually being able to make a difference. We realized that we didn't need to use statistics in order to make a strong claim that persecution is an urgent issue that needs greater attention by the worldwide Body of Christ. We just needed to tell the stories and remind the church what the Bible said about the matter of standing together with those who were suffering for their faith.
  
  That's why we at The Voice of the Martyrs would rather focus on the people involved as we try to put faces on the figures and stories on the statistics. That's why we would rather spend money putting together our newsletter with its testimonies of faithfulness in the face of tribulation, our email news service with its up-to-date reports, and our videos with actual interviews with persecuted believers than investing in putting together reports that few read and compiling statistics that are ultimately disputable. As we often reminds ourselves, we need to say what we know and leave the rest unsaid.

I called out the name of Jesus to help me! When I stopped, I was off the bridge pointing in the opposite direction & the engine was OFF! I looked over a very steep embankment. From a Christian perspective (which should be a Biblical worldview), Islam is a belief in a false god and that makes Islam evil just as worshipping idols, statues etc. is evil. There is no question that Harry reid is a disgusting representation of American Politicians. There are still some good people left, but Reid, Pelosi, Obama (to name a few) are not counted amongst them. But consider this, did the people of nevada really elect him, or was his election bought by the interests who control this despicable piece of political garbage? One final thought all Americans should consider is the Obama accepted doctrine that the US has a 'moral obligation' to intervene when citizens in a country are subjected to genocidal treatment, or repressive attacks by their government. How many countries are killing Christians and/or Jews simply because those citizens are Christian or Jewish? Why is it that there has been no mention of that by Mr Reid, Ms. Pelosi, or Mr. Obama? These laws have no merit, are in direct contradiction to our Constitution. In other words they are foolish laws. Any law that defies the Constitution, to me, is illegal and I will not respect it. Many of the people here are saying the same thing. The laws of this land are beginning to mean less, and less to the people it is inteded to govern. When that happens, trouble is on the horizon. The lawmakers of this land had better wake up to the fact, that just because they pass a law, it doesn't mean the people will adhere to it. Just like the ban on weapons obummer and his boys are planning. Make it against the law to own weapons and most of the citizenry of the US will be classified as criminals, because they will not give up their weapons. Do you know of any verse in the Bible that says a Christian ought to be executed for leaving the church? In fact the Bible says that by folk leaving, that fact indicates that they were not really one of them. It was a GOOD thing for people to be able to differentiate between a true believer and an infidel. And in the same vein, the Bible actually says that one does not advance Christianity by a carnel sword. For a truth, I think it better NOT to burn the Qur'an in order for people to KNOW what is the hellish doctrine that folk contemplate and base their lives upon, or if even their life style can be established by such so-called "holy books."

As for burning the Qur'ans, I do not think ANYONE should burn such books in protest at all UNLESS they are Muslims coming out of that religion, as did the practitioners of curious arts in the Bible who only burned THEIR OWN books as a demonstration of repentance from that way of life. The actual testimony that the Reverend showed, Biblically, is that by burning the Qur’an HE was a practicing Muslim. There is NO command in the Bible for burning anything otherwise.

There is more value in comparing books then there is of burning such in an obvious futile attempt to purge the earth of evil…that comes only at the end when the world and its works are burned up by God Himself who is more capable of doing so perfectly.

New Study on Hate Crimes Debunks the Myth of a Growing

Trend in Muslim Victimization

Washington, DC, March 29, 2011 – The Center for Security Policy today released a revised edition of their groundbreaking longitudinal study, Religious Bias Crimes 2000-2009: Muslim, Jewish and Christian Victims – Debunking the Myth of a Growing Trend in Muslim Victimization, based on FBI statistics reported annually in the Uniform Crime Reporting Program. The Center's study contradicts the assertions that religious bias crimes against Muslims have increased, and that the alleged cause is widespread “Islamophobia” in America. In fact, the study shows that religious bias crimes – also known as hate crimes – against Muslim Americans, measured by the categories of incidents, offenses or victims, have remained relatively low with a downward trend since 2001, and are significantly less than the numbers of bias crimes against Jewish victims.

The Center's study also contradicts the assumption of increased hate crimes against Muslims which has been asserted by Senator Richard Durbin's (D-IL) Senate Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on the Constitution, and is the topic of hearings being held today. Printed copies of the study were delivered to each member of the U.S. Senate early this morning.

According to the Center's analysis, in 2009, Jewish victims of hate crimes outnumbered Muslim victims by more than 8 to 1 (1,132 Jewish victims to 132 Muslim victims). From 2000 through 2009, for every one hate crime incident against a Muslim, there were six hate crime incidents against Jewish victims (1,580 Muslim incidents versus 9,692 Jewish incidents). Even in 2001 when religious bias crimes against Muslims increased briefly for a nine-week period, total anti-Muslim incidents, offenses and victims remained approximately half of the corresponding anti-Jewish totals.

The study provides hard data that disproves the counterfactual statements made by a small number of highly vocal Muslim lobbying groups, many linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, as well as leftwing activists. Citing these false assumptions concerning America’s alleged “Islamophobia” and a supposed rising trend in hate crimes against Muslim Americans, these organizations argued against holding the March 10, 2011 House Committee on Homeland Security hearings on Muslim American radicalization, and have argued for today's hearings in the Senate Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on the Constitution . The study shows that these arguments against the March 10 hearings, and for today's March 29 hearings, are not based on facts but rather on a political agenda.

What is all this "free speech" nonsense? PLEASE read the First Amendment! It is ONE sentence, and ONE subject. It first states that the government will not create a state religion and require citizens to belong to it; it then states that the people have the right to worship God in the manner in which they feel is appropriate and not be shut up about it verbally or in writing; the "freedom of assembly" has to do with the original definition of the word "church" which was simply a group of people gathered together to worship God; and then it gives us the right to complain to government if any of these religious freedoms are infringed upon. The First Amendment is CLEARLY about FREEDOM OF RELIGION, not freedom of speech.

Of course any religion that teaches violation of the rights of others that wish to worship God in the manner they feel is appropriate, has thereby given up their First Amendment rights because their rights CANNOT allow them to infringe upon the rights of others.
