Now government wants to control tidiness of churches

A New Hampshire city official has taken the old saying “cleanliness is next to godliness” one step too far in a battle now raging over the tax status of a church building, determining that cleanliness is godliness, according to a legal team in the midst of the fight.

The dispute concerns Liberty Assembly of God, now called Destiny Christian Church, over its decision to use its building to feed the hungry and help the needy, and the resulting impact on its building.

It appears a city official didn’t like clutter, and concluded the church couldn’t be religious with it there.

It was several years ago that the foundations of the problem were set in place, when Concord, N.H., officials decided that if the church used its building to house the homeless and meet missionaries’ needs, it would no longer be a church because those weren’t “religious” purposes.

    No regulations for churches to be tidy. However, feel free to contact the minister of the church to leave your name. If he needs your services for cleaning services, he will call you. Nice of you to offer your free cleaning services. Remember, don't call him…he'll call you.

    Unbelievable!!! Do these people belong to a Church have they ever attended a Worship Service??? There are many Churches where I live that feed and shelter the homeless, this is asked very simply of us in the Bible. There is another thought maybe these people should sit down and actually read the Bible. Instead of going after Churches to make money why don't these grand people take a cut in salary, pay for there own health insurance or go on the ridiculous crap obama is shoving down our throats!!! Once they are out of office the apron string is cut, no more money from us. Come on wake up!! What a bunch of fools look the word fool up in the Bible!!!!

    Good grief! What is more "Christian" than helping to feed the hungry and care for the poor. The problem is that the government wants complete control over such things.

Its called loving your neighbor as you love yourself which is a direct commandment from the world's Savior, Jesus the Christ, or God incarnate. Who do you think has the last word on this issue?     Housing the homeless and meeting missionaries' needs – Did this include teaching housekeeping skills and cleanliness?

    What exactly is the government complaining about?

    You can bet your life the gov. taxes you to the point yo lose your business, and when you get a job, you pay check is snapped up before you get to see it. That happened to my daughter in Idaho. She lost her business, still owing taxes, went out and got a waitressing job and worked amonth. She didn’t even get paid a thing, so she could pay rent, eat or any other bill. They took it all. That did not happen in NH but good old Idaho! My former home state. Not anymore!

    I find it concerning that a whole city council of, what I assume, educated people. Surely at least one of these council members have read the scriptures. The church in question is only following the Lord's admonitions, that being to feed, clothe, and comfort those in need. These things are indeed Christ like acts. How much closer to religious acts can it be? A church is not a museum for saints but a hospital for sinners.

    I have to say if people are living there…it is a residence. If they are cooking there, the health dept will probably inspect their kitchen. The Church may wish to rent a house for these needy men.

    The church means well but need to meet the local rules and regulations. I hope they can work this out to meet the church and the city's agenda.

    The Word tells us to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, provide for the homeless and as we have provided for the LEAST of these, so have we provided for The Christ JESUS.

    Whenever man's rules, regulations and ordinances contradict GOD, we, The Church, need to obey GOD, rather than man. Don't be so P.C. that you disobey GOD'S commandments!

    That said, let Him bless you allas much as He wants to! :)
