“Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.), the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, told CNSNews.com [yesterday] that the health-care law that President Barack Obama signed last March is a ‘platform’ for building a single-payer health care system in the United States.” Now, I know that none of you are surprised by this. Obama himself has said so. We have played for you the audio sound bites of Obama saying this as far back as 2002 in various speeches that he made before his union buddies, on a public radio station in Chicago. “During a newsmakers program at the National Press Club [yesterday], Conyers said that after discussing the issue with Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) he voted for the health-care law because he saw it as a necessary ‘platform’ for building toward a single-payer health-care system in the United States.”

We’re all reminded of John Dingell. We go back to March 23rd of 2010. It’s almost (just shy by a week, here) of one year ago on our Detroit affiliate WJR on the Paul W. Smith show he was talking to Dingell and Paul W. Smith said, “Are we ready to let 72,000 more people die in our country — or if 18,000 died, whatever the number is, that figure anyone comes up with — per year because of a lack of health insurance or health care, when this bill doesn’t take effect ’til 2014?” Paul W. Smith was saying: Look, we got all these emergencies, people are dying. It’s anywhere from 72,000 a year to 41,000 a year and yet your bill doesn’t implement ’til 2014. What gives?
