What is the dumbest thing Harry Reid has ever said?

It’s tough to narrow down what exactly the dumbest thing that Harry Reid has ever said. Some candidates?

Option 1: “When we start talking about the debt, the first thing people do is run to Social Security. Social Security is a program that works and it’s going to be fully funded for the next 40 years…No, it’s not a crisis. This is something that’s perpetuated by people who don’t like government. Social Security’s fine.”

Option 2: “Our system of government is a voluntary tax system… Of course you have to pay them.”

Option 3: “That this war is lost and that the surge is not accomplishing anything as indicated by the extreme violence.”

Option 4: “You could literally smell the tourists coming in the capitol.”

Option 5: “I don’t know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican, okay? Do I need to say more?”

While there are so many options, Harry Reid’s attempt to say Social Security is not in crisis might have been at the top of the dumb things.

“Remember the real problem with our debt are these long‑term entitlement programs. [Bush] tried to use all of his political capital to do this one thing and got very little support even from Republicans in doing it. And Social Security, you know, the idea to privatize it, to maybe let people control a small part of their own money when it comes to their retirement should not be a radical idea. It’s sensible and it’s basic. It’s really not even enough. But, hey, it’s a little baby step in the right direction and even Republicans were so wussy that they wouldn’t even follow him on that. Many of them at least. And same thing. You look at it now. Paul Ryan is another guy who’s actually coming out and saying, look, we’ve got to do serious things with entitlements. And very few Republicans will back him,” Stu said.
